Adding a resume to your profile does NOT constitute an application to any jobs listed in the fair. You will find available positions listed in each of the agencies booths; however, you will apply for those positions via agencies online application systems, located on their respective websites. 2 Uploading a resume is not required for participation in the IC Virtual Career Fair, but is highly recommended so that recruiters can see if your qualifications are a fit for their openings. Uploaded resumes will be visible to agency recruiters only and not other fair participants. Resumes also will be provided on disk to all IC agencies at the conclusion of the event if you have provided your permission to do so. If you are uncomfortable sharing your resume in this way, you can choose not to upload one. 4

Frequently Asked Questions about the IC VCF The following FAQs have been compiled to give you a better understanding of the fair so you can focus the majority of your time on networking and gathering the information you need. If I m not submitting an application directly to the show, why do I need to create a profile and upload a resume? When you create your show profile, you have the opportunity to include a short bio and upload your resume. This helps recruiters know your qualifications at a glance when chatting with you. Resumes also will be provided on disk to all IC agencies at the conclusion of the event if you have provided your permission to do so. You are not required to upload a resume or complete your bio if you are uncomfortable sharing this information through the IC VCF platform. It may take a while to chat with recruiters. Why? Last year, more than 5,700 candidates participated in the fair s live event. A similar turnout is projected this year. While hundreds of recruiters staff the event, the high participant-to-staff ratio often equates to wait times for those requesting chats. To put it in perspective, imagine attending a career fair in person with thousands of other participants. You would most certainly expect to wait in line at various booths. By researching available career opportunities and preparing yourself in advance of the fair, you will maximize any chats that you have with recruiters and subject matter experts. Will chatting with recruiters serve as a first interview? No. This online event is informational. If a participating agency is interested, you will be contacted after the fair regarding telephone and in-person interviews. Why do I have to go to the agencies websites to apply for jobs? The virtual career fair environment is built for chatting, supplying informational materials, and playing video and audio presentations. All of the agencies participating in the fair will be using their own online application technologies, located on their respective websites. Each agency booth will have How to Apply instructions that will help you find featured job postings on each website. 11
Where are the jobs located? Are there any positions in my town? Most of the jobs featured at this year s virtual career fair are located in the Washington, D.C./Baltimore, Maryland, metropolitan area. That said, NGA will feature some jobs in St. Louis, and other agencies may feature some announcements with multiple openings across the nation. Read each job announcement carefully to discern geographic location. Where can I find more information about the participating agencies? In addition to reading this Participant Packet and reviewing the agencies websites prior to the fair, you will find more information in each of the Agency Booths. There, you will find informational materials and how to apply instructions. All of the materials will also be located in the Resource Center, plus you can find presentations in the Auditorium. Use the briefcase tool in your Profile to collect any materials you would like to keep and later download to your desktop. What happens next? The federal hiring process will be used for all jobs being highlighted at the fair. Please refer to the agency website to which you applied for details regarding that agency s hiring process. 12
Spotlight: Agencies Attending the IC VCF The Intelligence Community Virtual Career Fair on March 3 will feature eight IC agency components seeking to fill critical skills positions. Review the following agency summaries to see where your skills fit and get a jump on how to spend your time at the fair. To further your research in advance of the fair, click each of the links below to review the agencies websites. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) The CIA is responsible for providing national security-related intelligence to senior U.S. policymakers. The CIA collects information that reveals the plans, intentions, and capabilities of our adversaries; produces timely analysis that provides insight, warning, and opportunity to the President and decisionmakers charged with protecting and advancing America s interests; and conducts Presidentially-directed covert action to preempt threats or achieve U.S. policy objectives. Headquartered in McLean, Va., the CIA is separated into four components: the Directorate of Intelligence, the Directorate of Science and Technology, the Directorate of Support, and the National Clandestine Service. Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) DIA provides all-source military intelligence to warfighters, defense policymakers and force planners in the Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community, in support of U.S. military planning and operations and weapon systems acquisition. DIA plans, manages and executes intelligence operations during peacetime, crisis and war. The agency s four core competencies human intelligence, all-source analysis, counterintelligence and technical intelligence enable military operations while also informing policy makers at the defense and national levels. National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) The National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) is the Department of Defense s center of excellence for foreign air and space threats. It produces integrated, predictive air, space and specialized intelligence to enable military operations, force modernization and policymaking. Headquartered at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, NASIC is a global intelligence enterprise, which fulfills the needs of today s and tomorrow's warfighter, aids in shaping national and defense policy and guides the development of future weapons systems. NASIC products and services play a key role in ensuring that U.S. forces avoid technological surprise and can counter existing and evolving foreign air and space threats. 13
National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) NGA provides timely, relevant, and accurate geospatial intelligence in support of national security objectives. The term geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) means the exploitation and analysis of imagery and geospatial information to describe, assess, and visually depict physical features and geographically referenced activities on the Earth. Geospatial intelligence consists of imagery, imagery intelligence, and geospatial (e.g., mapping, charting, and geodesy) information. NGA provides support to civilian and military leaders and contributes to the state of readiness of U.S. military forces. National Security Agency (NSA) NSA s core missions are to protect U.S. national security systems and to produce foreign signals intelligence information. The information assurance mission confronts the challenge of preventing foreign adversaries from gaining access to sensitive or classified national security information. The signals intelligence mission collects, processes, and disseminates intelligence information from foreign signals for intelligence and counterintelligence purposes and to support military operations. The agency also enables network warfare operations to defeat terrorists and their organizations at home and abroad, consistent with U.S. laws and the protection of privacy and civil liberties. Naval Intelligence The Office of Naval Intelligence is the leading provider of maritime intelligence to the U.S. Navy and joint warfighting forces, as well national decision makers and other consumers in the Intelligence Community. Established in 1882, ONI specializes in the analysis, production and dissemination of vital, timely and accurate scientific, technical, geopolitical and military intelligence. ONI employs more than 3,000 military, civilian, mobilized reservists and contractor personnel worldwide, including analysts, scientists, engineers, specialists and technicians. While ONI is the largest Naval Intelligence organization with the largest concentration of Naval Intelligence civilians, most of Naval Intelligence is comprises active duty military personnel, serving throughout the world. U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Intelligence and Counterintelligence The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) traces its origin to the Manhattan Project, which enlisted scientists studying fundamental physics to produce the first atomic weapons, and to the various energy-related programs that were dispersed throughout the federal government prior to DOE s creation in Today, the mission of the DOE s Office of Intelligence and Counterintelligence is to identify and mitigate threats to U.S. national security and the DOE Enterprise and inform national security decision making through scientific and technical expertise. U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of Intelligence and Analysis U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of Intelligence and Analysis provides intelligence support across the full range of Homeland Security missions, as defined in the Quadrennial Homeland Security Review: preventing terrorism and enhancing security, securing and managing our borders, enforcing and administering our immigration laws, safeguarding cyberspace and ensuring resilience to disasters. 14
