1 Student Responses for Item 5: Write a Conclusion SR1 No, Jacob s and Sophia s predictions was wrong because on the Land plants on week 1 the reguler rain plant was 6cm and so was the acid rain plant but on week 3 reguler rain plant was 10cm but acid rain plant was 5cm. On water plants on week 1 the reguler rain plant was 10cm and so was acid rain plant but on week 3 reguler rain plant was 16cm and acid rain plant was only 8cm! so therefore acid rain effects plant on land and water. Acid rain makes plants shoter. SR2 No. Jacob and Susan s prediction was wrong because they said that the type of rain would have no effect but the plants with regular rain water grew 2-3 inches a week and the plants with acid rain water didn t grow at all or even shrunk an inch Published by the Team of the Washington Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction on August 31, Copyright 2005 by Washington Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) All rights reserved. 2 SR3 Jacob and Sophia s investigation predition was wrong. Because the land plants rained with regular water started at 3cm at the beginning of week one. At the end of week 3 the land plant was 10cm tall. The water plants with regular rain were 8 cm tall. At the end of week 3 the water plants were 16cm high. The water plants with acid rain was 3cm. high at the beginning of week one. at the end of week 3 it was only 5cm. tall. There for Acid rain slows the growth of plants. SR4 It was not correct cause in the data table at the end of week 3 of landplants the Regular Rain was 10cm and in the acid rain it was 5cm so the regular water makes it grow more cause they started the same. 2 August 31, 2005
3 SR5 Their prediction is wrong because for Land plants it grew from 3 to 10 cm but on acid rain the plant plants only grew form 3 to 5 cm. The water plants in control (regular) grew form 8-16 cm. In the acid rain the water plants stayed on 8cm. As you can see Jacob and Sophia are wrong. And that the type of rain can change the growth in plants. SR6 Yes Jacob s and Sophia s prediction was correct because the regular rain did no damage wile the acid rain effected the plant in the first week.. 3 August 31, 2005
4 SR7 Their prediction is wrong because in the data it says on week 3 the acid rain plants were 5 cm The regular rain plants were 10cm. SR8 Their prediction that they said was right because both of the plants start the same of the first week and and the other first week and the other ends of the 1 s, 2 s, 3 s we re different. 4 August 31, 2005
5 SR9 Wrong. Land plants: regular rain grew 7cm, acid rain grew 2cm. Water plants: regular rain grew 8cm, acid rain did not grow. Acid rain keeps plants from growing like they would with regular rain SR10 No, the prediction is not correct. At the end of week 3 r the landplant with regular rain was 10cm. and the landplants with asid rain are only 5cm. The water plants with regular rain is 16 cm on the 3 rd week and the water plants with asid rain is 8cm.. 5 August 31, 2005
