2 Project Information Title: Project Number: Movies for Vocational Education and Training RO1-LEO Year: 2012 Project Type: Status: Marketing Text: Transfer of Innovation granted RO-Romania You want to learn Vocational Languages, but you re tired of traditional language classes? Are you teaching a foreign language for a vocational purpose? Would you like to meet a new simple method to improve your lessons? Then this is the right program for you! Come and join us, because we all "like to MOVET"! Summary: : The partnership consists of 5 institutions coming from different countries and it is based on a subject of mutual interest: transferring the know-how and the method of movie-making in the language classroom and taking measures to improve the language teaching for vocational purposes. Currently, language skills are given high importance, especially if we consider the labour market. Despite of the fact that there is a need for such trainings, in many countries teachers have limited resources and methods to teach their students languages. The method of moviemaking in the classroom comes to fulfill this need and offers a very adaptable, innovative method for teachers to provide vocational language education. The purpose of this project is to study, test, adapt and implement this teaching method in all the partner institutions. Furthermore, it aims to develop this method and to create a standard framework for teaching foreign languages for professional purposes, and job related competences, in order to achieve the following objectives: - To develop the teaching skills and knowledge of vocational language training providers (trainers/teachers), in order to improve the quality and effectiveness of such trainings; - To offer an adaptable, modern method of teaching vocational languages for VET institutes, in order to improve the attractiveness of such trainings; - To highlight the importance of continuous lifelong learning of vocational language teachers and the importance of innovative methods used in vocational language education, in order to increase competitiveness of VET providers; - To teach VET students languages and job related competences, with modern methodologies in order to increase their language outcomes and employability. The main results of the project are: Teacher training sessions for knowledge transfer and blueprints of these trainings; Handbook about teaching languages for vocational purposes; Project website, national conferences and other dissemination activities; Min. 35 teachers trained to use the method and 150 students trained with the new method. The project will have an impact on different VET actors: providers will enrich their knowledge, teaching skills and curricula; VET learners will be more motivated to learn; institutions providing vocational education will be able to adapt the method and so become more competitive and modern. 3 Project Information Product information: Projecthomepage: teaching material Handbook- will contain three main chapters: introduction, technical aspects and language & work related topics. The last part will be about existing teaching practice by making videos for professional purposes. Sample videos - During the pilot courses, teachers shall obtain at least 5 sample videos per country. A total of minimum 25 videos realised are foreseen, covering different vocational fields. 3

8 Events Final Conference of the MOVET project, Spain Date The Final Conference of the Movet project was organised in Madrid, Spain and was offered to different language teachers and providers. VET language teachers Rosa María Cabrera Escudero 14th of January 2015, Madrid, Spain Final Conference of the MOVET project, Turkey Date The final conference was held by Ayse Kayacan in 3rd December 2014 with the attendance of 50 participants. The English and German teachers from different schools in Cubuk attended the conference. They were informed about the project and the method. Moreover, the steps of writing a film by using English language were explained.the information about how to make a film,shoot it,write plot and scenes was also given to them. Furthermore that the aim of the project and method itself is to improve students' language skills is emphasized in the conference as well. 9 Events Final Conference of the MOVET project, Romania Date During this conference the participants can better understand the movie-making method and will learn by practical exercises how to use this method in classes. Final Conference of the MOVET project, Italy Date During the final conference the main project results, the project handbook, and some sample videos made by students were presented. 10 Events National Training Courses Date sessions were organised in total, one in each participating country - starting from October The aim was to transfer the know-how and practice from the teachers trained within the Centralised Teacher Training to additional teachers of the organising institutions. In conclusion 43 additional teachers were introduced in the method of movie-making: 19 from Romania, 5 from Italy, 6 from Hungary, 5 from Turkey and 8 from Spain. Language teachers VET Klara Biro Cluj-Napoca, Romania Florence, Italy Cubuk, Turkey Debrecen, Hungary Madrid, Spain Pilot study courses Date The teacher teams trained within the centralised and national training sessions tested the method of movie-making in classes via pilot study courses, which were organised in each partner institution. The language courses were held for different vocational languages and for different target groups: In Romania, the pilot study courses were organised in English for Business and Administration, the target group being unemployed youth; The Italian partners organised Italian for Hospitality Industry courses for low skilled foreign workers from Tuscany; Unemployed youth from Hungary were able to study English for Tourism and Office Administration; In Turkey vocational high school students with low income were offered Business English courses; In Spain English for Food and Drink Industry courses were offered to unemployed people from any sector and also unqualified workers. 134 students were trained in total during the pilot study courses. 11 Events Centralised Training Course Date The event took place in Firenze (Italy) from the 10th until the 12th of June The teacher training was organized by EUROPASS centro studi europeo and involved 9 language teachers from all 5 project partners. The 18 hour Teacher Training consisted of a mix of activities designed to introduce the participating teachers to the movie-making method to teach vocational languages.
