1 System of Assessments Guiding Education (SAGE) The EPP s SAGE system is our electronic assessment system. SAGE is a comprehensive system, composed of a series of modules created by the Knowledge Manager to store, track, and report on information related to professional education candidates. The SAGE application platform is Java-based, with an underlying Oracle 11g database, each hosted on campus on secure Unix servers. Interfaces include both internal and external data sources utilizing NCSU Enterprise data where applicable. Application authentication utilizes the NCSU campus authentication credentials provided by a users' secure Unity ID login and password. Application authorization is limited to current faculty, staff, and registered students in the Unit, with internal role-based application security controlling the available functionality based on the authenticated user. The CAEP review team has been assigned temporary access to the SAGE system. Reviewers will have the choice of viewing the system through the lens of the Knowledge Manager, a program coordinator, or an Assistant/Associate dean. SAGE access is available on the NCSU Portal environment and adheres to NC State s accessibility policies. Candidates, faculty, advisers, and administrators have role based access to the SAGE application. Candidates utilize SAGE to apply for field placements, track progression through gateways, and apply for licensure. In addition, candidates can upload and store their edtpa documents, enroll in and receive credit for their Professional Growth units, and review adviser and faculty comments on dispositions and gateway requirements. SAGE is designed to be a transparent system for candidates to clearly see and understand program requirements. Faculty and advisers utilize SAGE for advising and tracking of candidate requirements. SAGE provides a one stop shop for ensuring candidates are meeting licensure requirements and documenting any dispositional, placement, or academic issues. Administrators and program coordinators utilize SAGE to oversee program and Unit data. A program coordinator is able to view all students in a given program and report on real time demographics and gateway information. Annual program reports (Snapshots) are housed in SAGE as well. Each year the Office of Knowledge Management & Assessment and the Office of Professional Education populate a program snapshot. The snapshot, as well as supporting

2 documentation, is housed in SAGE for program review. The program coordinator completes a review of program data, discusses strengths and areas for improvement and makes requests for EPP support. The KMA and OPE administrators read all program reports and complete a Unit response drawing from all reports to create a plan for the following year. Resources, training, and specific program needs are addressed.

3 Screenshots Base Screen: When candidates log-in, this is the screen they see that gives them an overview of Gateways and Fieldwork. Gateway Tab: Prior to this screen, candidates can select the Gateway they would like to view. Once in that Gateway, candidates can track their progress towards the Gateways.

4 Teaching Tab: On this tab, candidates submit their applications for placements (PS1 and PS2) and view their placement location and teacher once they have been placed. Passport to Success: Candidates who are involved in the Passport to Success program have this additional tab. Here they track their progress toward the Passport to Success program. Both candidates and their passport mentors can view progress.

5 edtpa: In this tab, candidates upload their edtpa artifacts. Any item that says Uploaded has been completed. Items with Missing were not uploaded. Professional Development: On this tab, candidates can register and track their Professional Growth Units. Enrolled Status means that the candidate is enrolled in that event but has not been awarded credit or the event has not occurred. Events under the Completed Status are events that the candidate has completed and was awarded credit. Events under the Not Completed Status are events that the candidate registered for but did not attend or complete.
