Faith Statement Jonah Brodersen We connect to god and Jesus Christ through prayer, communion, and everyday events. We pray to bring help to others around us. You don t have to pray just in church, but anywhere you are. People all around us need our help. We don t always see that in people. When we pray we are bringing hope to them. God is who we worship along with Jesus. God brings us forgiveness from all of our sins since Jesus died on the cross for us. God loves us for all of the time no matter what, and he also forgives us for all of the bad sins we have done. Confirmation to me is being connected with God and Jesus. God is promising me a loving life with hope and lots of other things. God s love connects with me and lets me understand others around me and bring hope to others around me. God s love allows me to love others around me and bring hope to others. I express my love and belief in god by prayer, communion, and giving to others. There are all different faiths in this world. Being Lutheran connects with me since Martin Luther began the Lutheran church because he felt it was wrong to pay for the forgiveness of sins. People have made terrible decisions in their life and are very poor due to it. They are not wealthy enough to pay for all of the bad decisions in their life. Confirmation is important to me because it lets me understand God better and learn how Jesus came to be in the Bible. Matthew 5:3-4 Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. These verses are important to me since they talk about other people with troubles getting help from others. We need to do the same for others and make them feel good about themselves. We cannot just sit around when there are people in the world that are starving, and they can t even afford shoes to wear on their feet. We should be helping these people. We have it so good and we very rarely think of these other people in the world that have problems and cannot afford to take care of themselves. God tells us to be nice to others and help people who are in need. There are many ways we are helping those who need, but there are also a lot more things we could do to be helping them. There are people who are forced to drink dirty water for

Page 2 they do not have clean water to stay hydrated. Everyone is more worried about themselves to realize the problems of others around them. Just as Jesus went to all of the villages and cities to heal people, we need to help them the best we can. Jesus did not die for us to see others suffer. We need to help these people the best we can so they can live lives of their own instead of always being sick and on the edge of dying.

Faith Statement Micah Carson My faith has always been very important to me ever since the first time I met God. My first encounter with God, that I can remember, was being baptized. My baptism was extra special because I was baptized along with my older cousin Reagan. We might pick on each other, but we will forever have our baptism to keep our bond together with God. I believe that if you believe in God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit you will never die, but you will forever live in Heaven with God, Jesus, and the people you love that died in the past. A Bible verse that says this is John 3:16, simply stating that believing in God will give you eternal life. To me, this means that while in heaven you will see everyone that you ve lost, Raised and will lose even after the end of time. Clearly, I believe in God, but my relationship with him also includes trust and being able to talk with him. For me, my trust with God is being able to talk to God, listen to God, and talking to other people about my faith that I am currently doing. There are some simple ways to talk with God like praying at night, going to church, or even by praying before you and your guest eat. Some more complex ways of talking to God are getting a group of friends or people you know together at the same time to do prayers; you could join a group that already exists; or go up in front of the church and say a prayer to the congregation. Also, be willing to speak out in public about Lutheran beliefs. Now that I have talked about speaking with God, let's move on to why I want to be confirmed.

Page 2 I want to be confirmed because of what it will bring me and the other people in my life. Doing this will allow me to further my understanding of God while he leads me down the right path and an extreme feeling of happiness. Another thing that being confirmed will do for me is let me see the problems with the world by clearing my mind. Also, I will feel ready to tell other people that either don t believe in God or haven't heard of him, and I will be able to help my kids become good Christians when I finally have them. Finally, one of the main reasons I won t to be confirmed is to make my family and I happy. Obviously, being confirmed means a lot to me and my family. My connection to God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit will blossom from the day of my confirmation to even after my death. Also, I will be able to be open with God while I talk with him, wherever I might be. I will forever know Christ, grow in Christ, and joyfully go with Christ while living life and teaching others that want to know about Jesus and God.

My Confirmation Faith Statement By Gunnar Jorgensen Throughout the last several years of Confirmation, I have learned a lot about God s work. I have learned these things by attending confirmation class and church services regularly, weekly meetings with my mentor and through community service projects. I feel my relationship with God has been strengthened through these experiences. Some of these specific experiences included attending Church Camp, Community Prayer Walk, Mortuary tour, Pies 4 U and monthly Food Banks just to name a few. Perhaps the most difficult part of creating my faith statement was selecting the verse that meant the most to me. While reading through some different verses, I found that the bible verse that connected the most with me was Philippians 4:13. This bible verse is I can do all this through him who gives me strength. I feel that no matter what happens, I can do anything with the help of God. I find myself now referring to this verse at times when doing school work, playing sports and just everyday life. When things are not going as planned, I remember this verse and know that God is always there to help me in whatever I do. I believe that God is the creator of everything; he will forgive my sins and provide

Page 2 eternal life for me. God helps me to make the right decisions and to help others make the right decision. I express my relationship with God through daily prayers. I strive to follow the Ten Commandments, The Lord s Prayer and the Apostle s Creed. I believe that God loves everyone regardless of their race, sex or disability. I know that God loves me for who I am. I want to be confirmed because I am ready to move to the next level in the church and to the next level of being a Christian. I feel that when I reach the next level I will be able to spread the word of God to people. Evangelism is very important to life of the church. I plan to continue to be involved in the church and various church activities. Confirmation is a big accomplishment for me and it is important to my family. I also feel it is important to give to my church through offering my talents and treasures and volunteering my time. I feel I can turn to my church family in times of need. I have learned that my congregation is filled with caring individuals who share the same beliefs as me. In conclusion, confirmation has influenced me in a positive manner. I ve increased my knowledge regarding God s work. Even though I can t recite the bible, I ve learned to follow the bible in my everyday life. As I continue to go through my teenage years, I will be faced with difficult decisions and will look to God and the Bible for guidance. I appreciate the work of the church and my mentor, Wes Blecke, who have

Page 3 helped me learn and understand the Christian faith better and more fully. I ve seen the church go through many changes and Pastors throughout the years, but the one thing that remains constant is my belief and trust in God.

Tori Kniesche My Testimony of Faith March 2016 My Faith Journey I believe that God is my guide. He guides me through rough times and helps me to do the right things and influence others to also do the right things. I also believe that He is a Father to everything on earth. I believe that He made the earth and the heavens. God has almighty powers and created the greatness in people. I believe that God calls me to spread His name and be kind to others, help the earth, and make sad children happy. To me God is the Holy Spirit. I believe that Jesus is the son of God. I believe that He had once been on earth and died for us on the cross. John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not parish but have eternal life." I believe that He is a loving and caring person who sacrificed Himself for the life of His people. I believe that He will forgive us when we admit what we did wrong and listen to us when we talk to Him about our troubles. I believe that Jesus went through an unbelievable amount of pain, but He went through all that pain so we could be forgiven for our sins. When I read Philippians 4:13, "I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength." I feel that I can accomplish anything if I have Christ by my side. He is with me when I am on the softball field, when I am at school, or when I am in my room studying. I can always find peace in knowing that God is with me everywhere. My relationship with God and Jesus is now much stronger, ongoing, and very important to me. His love to me means acceptance, grace, and joy.

Page 2 I want to affirm my convictions of faith in God and His son by being confirmed in Our Savior Lutheran Church. This means that I am ready to take on the responsibilities of my own faith. I accept God, the Father, and His Son, Jesus Christ, as my savior. My promise to God is to stay faithful to Him, to build a relationship with Him through His son, Jesus, His word- the Bible, and by being an active member of His church. Jeremiah 29:11-12 says, "For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the LORD, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope. Then when you call upon me and come and pray to me, I will hear you." God has a plan for my life; it is my responsibility to figure that out. I will follow His path and serve Him faithfully. I recognize that my faith is a solid foundation for my future and what I can accomplish in life. Through faith I can do and achieve whatever I set my mind to. I choose to walk with Our Lord.

With God on My Side, I am a Winner Casey Koenig Psalm 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; whom shall I be afraid? I think if you believe in God and trust in God then you can do all things and you do not need to be afraid. In sports I pray for God to watch over all of the athletes and to keep us safe. In school I pray for God to help me use the gifts he has given me so I get good grades. I believe that going to church is important. Being part of a church is something that my whole family has always done. My grandparents go to church and they grew up going to church with their parents. When I have kids I will take my family to church. I think everyone should go to church as often as possible. You will learn something new about God or the bible every time you go. If there is someone that does not go to church, I would like to take them along so they can experience all the amazing things. People need to take some time and look around at all the beautiful things God has made for us like babies and sunrises and sunsets. I think God made this world for us to enjoy. He wants us to be happy. There are some places that are not so happy and God put us here to help the people in those places. We all need to get more involved. We can buy food for people who cannot afford it. We need to be involved in our own church. Everyone could find something that they like. There are bells or ushering or singing in the choir. I think helping in church will help me build my faith. I think building my faith will help with many other things in life like going to college and getting a job and with people skills.

Page 2 With God on our side we do not need to be afraid of dying. My Mom had a friend who believed in God and had cancer. She said that if she died she would still be a winner. I think going to heaven is like getting a fresh start. I believe that it is a new beginning. Everything in Heaven is perfect. When we get there we will get to see all the people we have been missing so much. I think it is important to think about our faith before big events in our life like surgery or a death. We can pray for surgery to go good and know that God will be with us. If there is a death we can pray for God to heal the family. If you did not believe in God you would feel like you were all alone. I want to be confirmed. I was baptized when I was a baby. My Mom and Dad and my sponsors promised that they would teach me about the church and bring me to church. My Mom and Dad brought me to Sunday School and Bible School and I have been going to confirmation to learn more. Now I want to do my part. I pray for lots of things. Praying makes me feel closer to God. The more I pray the easier it gets. I pray before a football game or a wrestling match asking that everything will go good and nobody will get hurt. Before meals my family always says a prayer. If I am in a tough situation I ask God for help because I know He is always there for me. I say a prayer before I go to bed asking that my family and I all wake up OK. I pray to God for lots of things but I know that God is there for me no matter what happens.

If you asked me what my faith is I would tell you, I believe most of the time and there are other times when I don't. The times I believe are when good things happen and the moments that I question my faith are when the bad things happen, for example my great grandparents passing away or whenever I hear bad news about something. When I do question faith I ask god why, why me, why my family, why would you do this to me? People that have impacted my faith the most through my years of going to church are my Sunday School teacher, my grandparents and my mom. They all have either showed me what God can do or have talked to me about God/Jesus and believing and have taken me to church and Sunday School. There are many ways that you or I could show God my love and faith. A few ways I show that I have faith and that I love him are by praying, going to church as often as I an and helping with Sunday School. To keep showing that I love and have faith in God I will continue going to church, pray and look for signs that god is there for me, and I will continue helping with Sunday School. How do I trust God? Well I trust in God by believing and trusting that he is always watching over me and being there for me when I need him, or just need to talk to him when I feel like no one else will. I trust God will always be there anytime I nee him, even when I am questioning my faith, I believe and trust that he will still be there for me. I continue to grow in my faith by continuing to learn about God and teach little and old people what he can do to help you and show them that he Is always there for you when you don't think anyone else is. I tell them how much believing in him can help you have faith and not only in other people, but to also have faith in yourself. I feel like my faith has grown a lot over the years by beginning to believe more and more every time I read the bible or pray to God. Having God forgive me or take away my sins makes me feel better when J do many things wrong and have a lot of sins. Having him forgive my sins makes me feel better about myself. My favorite verse is "Beloved, I do not consider that I have made it on my own; but this one thing I do: forgetting what Iles behind and straining forward to what lies ahead. I press on toward the goal for the prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus" Philippians 3: My reasoning for this verse is it presses me to forget the bad things In the past and to look forward to the good things of the future. The verse reminds me no matter what bad things have happened hi the past, you can make good things happen in the future if you try.

My Faith Statement - Cody Rogers My name is Cody Rogers and I was born in Norfolk, NE on February 19, My sponsors are Patrick Swim, Kevin Heier, and Rob Heier. I started learning about god when I first came to Sunday school. My Dad grew up in Louisiana and belonged to a Baptist Church. My Mom grew up in Wayne and she went to Redeemer/Our Savior when she was young. That s where I learned it was important to go to church. My grandparents are part of the reason I go to church too. They belong to Our Savior and have went on many mission trips with the church. I have 2 siblings that have previously been confirmed also. My relationship I have with god is strong and the older I get it will continue to build up. My faith fits into this world because I use it in my everyday life. As I m out on the court, field, or track it s mainly god who keeps me going. If I get a good grade on a test it s god who prepared me for it and helped me through it. I believe in god because he is the one who put me on this earth today. I feel the need to worship him and thank him for it. I learned about communion in around the 6th grade. We take communion for the forgiveness of our sins. I also learned that the bread and wine symbolize the body and blood of Christ. Jesus told us to remember him as we took communion. We celebrate his resurrection at Easter. The Apostles Creed is a statement of what I believe so when I say it during church it reminds me of who I am. I look forward to being confirmed because I ve spent the past two years learning about god so that I may prepare myself for this. I am prepared to take on the vows and responsibilities that were taken for me when I was baptized. I will become an adult into the church and I am ready for it. I plan to give my time and talents to gladly tell others about my faith. I enjoy going to church services with my family. As an adult of the church I will help and work together as a group to set an example of how god would have us live. I believe that god protects me and takes care of me through my toughest times. I believe that god gave me my life and I will do my best to live the way he would want me to live. When I make mistakes Jesus death tells me that I am forgiven and that someday I will be with him. I learned that god can help with anything. He is everywhere at all times and all I have to do is look for him. The Lord s Prayer is the main sample that we know he wishes us to pray for him. I haven t learned all that I will learn in the future, but I am ready to be confirmed.

Meghan Spahr My Faith I believe in God and Jesus Christ. I believe because I have been growing up around those who believe in God. I have friends that are other religions. I believe that because we are created by God each of us has a little bit of God within us and that is the relationship and the connection we have with him. To me God s love means that I will never be alone and that in bad times I will always be able to rely on prayer to help me find my way in life. I also never have to fear because God will protect me. I can do anything with the spirit of God with me. I would say that my faith is very important to me and that I will need it in the future during stressful times. I might be able to use my faith to help others and convince them to convert and have faith. My faith is the comfort I need and I may use my faith to comfort others. I want to be confirmed so I will be a true member of the church. In confirmation God is renewing my baptism. In my confirmation I am promising god I will love him and follow the Ten Commandments. Confirmation is a promise to follow God for the rest of my life both before and during my time of death. I promise to God that I will use the knowledge of my faith to help be a disciple. I believe God s presence is strongest in places of need, and that he is with those who need to be lifted up by the spirit of God. Those I love are there to support me

Page 2 through confirmation, and that that is the best thing for me to know. I believe that the spirit gets stronger the more faith there is in one place so the more people with faith that are there the closer we get to God. My faith is very important to me. I want it to grow and be able to change the world. I want it to get stronger and right now the best way to do that is to get confirmed and become a full member of the church. I want to be confirmed so I can serve God in ways that I can t now. I love God and believe that God loves all of us I know that whatever happens, God s love is with me always. My heart is filled with the love of God and his whole creation. When I get confirmed, I will try my best to become a better person and help the people of God.
