1 SECTION PART 1 GENERAL 1.01 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS A. PART A and DIVISION 1 of PART B are hereby made a part of this SECTION. B. Examine all conditions as they exist at the project prior to submitting a bid for the work of this SECTION SCOPE OF WORK A. Furnish and install the following items required to complete the work of this SECTION, as shown on the Drawings and specified herein. 1. Fibrous wood wall panels (ʻFAPʼ), including all necessary attachment hardware and edging material. 2. Fabric covered acoustic panels and all necessary attachment hardware and edging material RELATED WORK SPECIFIED ELSEWHERE A. The following related work is to be performed under the designated SECTIONS: 1.04 SUBMITTALS 1. Metal stud and back up for fibrous wood wall panels: SECTION GYPSUM WALLBOARD. 2. Furring and blocking for attachment of wall hung items: SECTION ROUGH CARPENTRY. 3. Attachments to and penetrations of fibrous panels by trades requiring same. 4. Caulking between items furnished and installed under this SECTION and adjacent construction: SECTION DAMPPROOFING, WATERPROOFING AND CAULKING. A. Submit complete shop drawings in accordance with SECTION SUBMITTALS

2 B. Shop drawings shall include wall elevations and reflected ceiling plans of fibrous panel systems, including large scale details of attachment and adjacent construction. Include with shop drawings manufacturer's data sheets for all items specified herein. 1. 3 PART 2 PRODUCTS 2.01 FIBROUS WOOD PANEL SYSTEM A. General - To establish a standard of quality, function and design, drawings and specifications for fibrous acoustic panels ( FAP ) are based on fibrous wood panels as manufactured by Tectum, Inc., Newark, Ohio. B. Fibrous Wood Panels - Panels shall be composed of aspen wood fibers bonded with an inorganic hydraulic cement, and formed by a continuous process under heat and pressure, as follows: 1. Wall Panels - 2 inches thick (one inch thick where noted on drawings) by 47-1/2 inches wide by lengths shown on the drawings. Panels shall have long edges both beveled, and tongue and grooved for interlocking of continuous paneling. Panel ends at exposed butt joints shall have edges field beveled to match factory beveled long edges. Panels shall be factory painted white for field finish painting by SECTION B. Fasteners, metal furring and related hardware - as recommended by a panel manufacturer for various installation conditions. C. Edge Treatment - Aluminum shapes, factory primed white, for field painting by SECTION PAINTING FABRIC COVERED PANEL SYSTEM A. General To establish a standard of quality, function and design, drawings and specifications for fabric wrapped acoustic wall panels are based on ʻAPʼ acoustic panel system as manufactured by Decoustics, Getzville, NY. Similar panels by Armstrong Sandsoak and other manufacturers will be considered for approval as an equal by the architect upon receipt of adequate supporting data and samples. B. General System shall include the following components 1. Fabric covered panels 2. Fasteners, adhesive, clips and hook and loop fasteners as recommended by the panel manufacturer for the installation conditions. C. Fabric covered panels 1. Medium density core with square resin hardened edges, one and two inches thickness as shown on the drawings. Panels shall be factory finished with fabric finish bonded to the panel face, edges, and one inch on the back. Fabric shall be flat and wrinkle free and fully tailored at the corners with no exposed darting. 2. Panel and fabric shall have a flame spread rate of 25 or less and smoke developed rate of 450 or less under ASTM E

4 3. Fabric and color shall be selected by Architect from manufacturerʼs standard selection. 4. Panels shall have the following noise reduction coefficient values when tested in accordance with ASTM C-423 (type ʻAʼ mounting per ASTM E- 795). 5 PART 3 EXECUTION 3.01 INSTALLATION A. Install acoustic panels in strict accordance with manufacturer's requirements and the approved shop drawings. B. Secure fibrous wood panels to metal studs, furring and masonry substrates using "blind" mechanical fasteners wherever possible. When installation requirements necessitate face fastening, fastener heads shall be slightly depressed, with void filled with wood fibers (from panel) and white glue. Fasteners shall not be less than 16 inches on center. C. Furnish and install fibrous wood panels in lengths to minimize end jointing, in accordance with the Contract Documents and approved shop drawings. Where required, field cut and fit and fill ends of panels for a tight butt joint. 1. Where shown on the drawings, field bevel ends of panels to match factory bevel on long edge. D. Fabric covered panels shall be factory fabricated to sizes shown on the drawings and installed using mechanical, mechanical/velcro and mechanical/adhesive combination in strict conformance to manufacturerʼs recommendations. Install pre-painted trim over cut edges ADDITIONAL MATERIAL A. Provide to the Owner on completion of work, maintenance stock of facric finishes used in an identical dye lot, the greater of an amount equal to 2% of the total yardage required or enough material to cover one of the largest acoustical units supplied, whichever is greater.
