Warranty Villeroy & Boch provides a FIVE-YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY for its Villeroy & Boch branded vitreous china and fine fire clay plumbing fixtures to be free of defects in material and workmanship. This warranty is extended only to the original purchaser and installer of the product. This warranty is non-transferable. Villeroy & Boch also warrants its Villeroy & Boch branded acrylic tubs for a period of five years from date of purchase against defects in material and workmanship. All other products, accessories, components, and parts are warranted against defects in workmanship, and material for a period of one year from date of original purchase. This warranty applies to unmodified products when properly installed and maintained for their normal and intended noncommercial application. Excluded are all industrial, commercial, and business usage, whose purchasers are hereby extended a two-year limited warranty. Villeroy & Boch is not responsible for removal of defective product or installation costs of replacement pieces. Excluded from coverage through this warranty are items used as plumbing fixture trim, various fittings, bowl seats, and tank flushing mechanisms. Changes in finish gloss, scratching, staining and other effects from chemical use, water and atmospheric conditions are not considered manufacturing defects but are considered normal wear and tear. Variations in color will occur naturally due to manufacturing processes and are not covered under this warranty. Villeroy & Boch reserves the right to make changes in product design, manufacturing process, packaging, or availability at any time without notice. Villeroy & Boch will, at its discretion, repair, replace, or make applicable adjustment should Villeroy & Boch inspection disclose covered defects. 3 Pre-Installation Recommended tools and supplies (not included): Level Pencil Putty knife Screwdriver Supply shutoff valve Tape measure T-bolts (2) Water supply line Wax ring Turn off water supply. If the existing toilet does not have a shutoff valve below the tank, install a new shutoff valve now. Remove any floor-mounted decorative molding or trim. After removing the existing toilet, stuff a heavy rag into the outlet hole to prevent gases from escaping. Using a Villeroy & Boch seat is recommended. If using a different seat, it may be necessary to remove the nylon anchors from the bowl before water closet installation. All dimensions are nominal. Specifications/Roughing-In Figure 1.1 Required measurements: Ensure that the water supply and the closet flange are located according to the roughing-in dimensions shown. (See Figure 1.1) Measure from the finished wall to the centerline of the outlet (normally 12"). In the event that the water supply is located at a different position than indicated, the use of a flexible water supply line is recommended. Before beginning the installation: 1. Remove all installation materials (bolts, guides, etc.) from water closet tank, bowl, and seat. 2. Ensure that the inside of the water closet tank is clean. 4 Installation Instructions Measuring and leveling: 1. Carefully place the bowl (without the wax ring attached) onto the T-bolts and closet flange. 2. Level the bowl in all directions. Placing shims under the bowl may be necessary if the floor is not level. 3. Attach the washers and nuts that secure the bowl to the floor (includes plastic washer, metal washer, and nut) over the exposed T-bolts. Tighten evenly. 1/4" of thread maximum should be exposed after nut installation. If more is exposed, mark on the T-bolt for cutting later. (See Figure 1.2) 4. Remove the washers and nuts and remove the bowl from the T-bolts. 5. Use a hacksaw to remove excess T-bolt thread if necessary. If replacing a water closet, remove the previous wax ring using a putty knife. The existing flange and bolts can be reused if they are undamaged. Placing the water closet on a hard or rough surface could damage the outer material. 2. Set the wax ring firmly in place around the outlet hole on the bottom of the bowl. 3. Stand the water closet up. Re-position the bowl so the water closet aligns with the T-bolts and the wax ring is firmly seated between the bottom of the bowl and the floor. (See Figure 1.3) 4. Press down hard to seal the wax ring. Do not rock or tilt the water closet after the wax ring is firmly seated between the bowl and the floor. Doing so may break the water-tight seal and may require a new wax ring. Figure 1.4 Wax ring Closet flange 5. Level the water closet in all directions. 6. Attach the washers and nuts that secure the bowl to the floor (includes plastic washer, metal washer, and nut) over exposed T-bolts. Tighten evenly. 5 Attaching the tank to the bowl: 1. Connect the water supply hose to the fill valve. Hand-tighten the supply hose. Make sure that tightening the supply hose does not cause the fill valve to spin inside the tank. Figure 1.5 Over tightening can result in product failure and possible flooding. 2. Place the large sponge washer over the threaded flush valve outlet on bottom of tank, between the tank and the bowl. 3. Place the rubber cone washers and bolts into the bolt holes on the inside of the tank. 4. Carefully lower the tank onto the bowl, making sure that the sponge washer is centered over the bowl inlet and that the bolts align with the holes. (See Figure 1.5) 5. Install the metal washers and hand-tighten the metal hex nuts evenly to secure the tank to the bowl. The tank may wobble during installation, but ensure that it is level before firmly securing. The tank may crack if nuts are over tightened. Finalizing the installation: 1. Connect the hose to the water shut-off valve. 2. Open the water shut-off valve and check for leaks. Flush multiple times to ensure that no leaks are present. Installing the seat: 1. Place mounting sockets over the factory-installed anchors in the bowl. Push and tighten screws through the mounting sockets and through the holes in the bowl. 2. Fasten the screws very tightly with a screwdriver. Significant force is required. 3. Twist the seat attachment covers slightly counterclockwise to unlock. 4. Place the seat down onto the bowl and press the seat attachment covers onto the mounting sockets. 5. Twist the seat attachment covers slightly clockwise to lock the seat down. The seat may be removed for easy cleaning. Figure Villeroy & Boch Revision A 2 PIECE WATER CLOSET twist/sunberry 4

6 Care and Cleaning Regular care For everyday care of your Villeroy & Boch product, we recommend using a soft, non-scratching sponge or cloth. If you need to use a cleaning agent, a vinegar-based cleaner is the best choice. Vinegar-based cleaners are natural and biodegradeable, and effective against scale, grease, and soap residues. Heavy soiling There are many excellent cleaners available for keeping your Villeroy & Boch product beautiful for many years to come without damaging the surface. Whatever cleaner you choose should be free from any abrasives or harsh chemicals such as: Scouring liquids or powders Highly concentrated drain cleaners Metal brushes or cleaning pads containing metal Caution should be taken not to use products with high chlorine contents. Never use chlorine based products in a water closet tank as they can permanently harm internal parts, potentially cause leaking and will void the warranty. Bowl cleaners should be used only inside of the bowl. 7 Troubleshooting PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE CORRECTIVE ACTION Water closet does not flush. Poor or sluggish flush. Water closet leaks. Water closet does not shut off. 1. Water supply valve is closed. 2. Supply line is blocked. 3. Flush valve chain is too loose or disconnected. 1. Water level in the tank is too low. 2. Supply valve is partially closed. 3. Partially clogged trapway and/or drain pipe and/or vent. 4. Supply pressure is too low. 5. Outlet is partially blocked by wax ring. 1. Poor supply line connection. 2. Poor bowl-to-tank/floor connection. 1. Water level in the tank is set too high. 2. Flush valve seal is too tight, holding the flush valve open. 3. Flush valve chain is too tight, holding the flush valve open. 4. Flush valve seat and/or flapper worn or deformed. 5. Sand or debris lodged in water control. 1. Open the valve and allow water to fill the tank. 2. Shut off water supply, disconnect the supply line and inspect all gaskets and washers. Reassemble per installation instructions. 3. Readjust the chain length as needed. 1. Follow instructions to adjust the tank water level. (See Figure 1.8) 2. Open the supply valve fully. Make sure that the proper supply line size is used. 3. Unclog the passage with plunger or toilet auger. Consult your plumber if necessary. 4. Normal supply pressure must be at least 20 psi. 5. Install a new wax ring. 1. Review installation instructions. 1. Follow instructions to adjust the tank water level. (See Figure 1.8) 2. Readjust the flush valve seal as needed. 3. Readjust the chain length as needed. 4. Replace the flush valve assembly as needed. 5. Shut off the water supply. Remove the fill valve cap and clean it. Reassemble per installation instructions. Adjusting the tank water level: Figure 1.8 Use a screwdriver to turn the plastic screw. Turn the screw clockwise to raise the float and increase the amount of water in the tank.
