3 1 System Overview 1.1 Introduction Congratulations with the purchase of your MYLAPS OnBoard display kit! By getting this display onboard you will have instant access to your official lap times and your qualify/race position; essential information to stay ahead of the other racers! We wish you a competitive race season! By the way: do not forget to thank your pit crew for the great work they have done the last years The MYLAPS OnBoard Team 3

4 1.2 Principle of the MYLAPS Onboard Display system: The Timing System sends the official timing and position information, generated by your MYLAPS Personal Transponder to the 2-Way Decoder system. The 2-Way Communicator installed on your vehicle receives this information and updates your MYLAPS Onboard Display. The 2-Way Decoder System is an add-on to the MYLAPS Personal Transponder Timing System operated by Timekeepers and/or Race Organizers. 1.3 What s in the box? 1.4 Connection Diagram 4

5 2 Installation of the MYLAPS Onboard Display 2.1 Installation sequence Before actually installing your MYLAPS Onboard Display kit please read this installation guide completely! Recommended positions: 1. 2-Way Communicator in the wheel well or underneath the vehicle 2. 2-Way BreakOutBox inside the driver compartment 3. MYLAPS Onboard Display steering wheel or dashboard Way Communicator The 2-Way Communicator is the device that receives your official timing and positioning information (based on your personal transponder) and sends this to your Onboard Display. For optimal communication performance with the timing system, the 2-Way Communicator must be installed according to the installation requirements. Installation requirements: The 2-Way Communicator should have a clear view to the track; The 2-Way Communicator is mounted max. 30cm (1ft) from the track; The 2-Way Communicator should not be installed within 30cm (1ft) of your Personal Transponder; Maximum operating temperature should not exceed 50 C/122F; No electrical wires or electrical devices within 10cm (4 in) to the 2-Way Communicator; No carbon fiber around the 2-Way Communicator. 5

6 Mounting instructions: Mount the 2-Way Communicator with the two mounting bolts provided in the kit; Route the cable to the 2-Way BreakOutBox; Secure the electrical cable of the 2-Way Communicator with tie wraps; Make sure that the electrical cable cannot be cut, stressed, or damaged.
