2 BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES AT THE UNITED NATIONS The UN spends around 15 billion dollars each year buying goods and services for peacekeeping, humanitarian and development projects around the world. It's clear from the statistics below that UN agencies can offer good sales prospects for international companies whose products match their needs. To help you to determine whether your company falls into this category, the first IPS- International Procurement Seminar, carried out by German governmental entities in partnership with their European colleagues, will take place on November 17th- 18th, 2015 at the UN-Campus in Bonn.

3 IPS - INTERNATIONAL PROCUREMENT SEMINAR The goal of this new project, IPS, is to provide potential international suppliers with a detailed overview of the various aspects of doing business with the United Nations procurement system. In this 2-day event the procurement needs, primarily of the UN-organizations in Europe, will be illustrated through a series of presentations, lectures and workshops. The purpose is to show international companies and stakeholders what and how the United Nations procures in order to facilitate the procurement procedures for potential vendors and UN procurement professionals. In addition to the general summaries of the UN system and procurement process a special focus will be placed on the Millennium Development Goals and post Development Agenda as well as the following thematic areas: print and digital media food procurement humanitarian relief sustainability and innovation Several UN-organizations will also participate with their technical staff to address innovation and open crowdsourcing to foster new products, services, processes and business model development. This event also offers companies the possibility to deepen the dialogue with the individual UN-representatives in bilateral meetings. This seminar is an important opportunity for small and medium enterprises to become familiar with the process of becoming a supplier of goods or services to the United Nations, as well as for current vendors seeking to further develop their business.

5 LOCATION UN-CAMPUS, BONN Bonn is the only German UN city and is home to 18 secretariats, which deal with global challenges such as climate protection, desertification, water balance, soil and species protection. In addition, more than 150 international organizations are located around the UN hub in the Bonn region. VENUE The seminar will take place on the UN Campus and in the Old Waterworks Wasserwerk located directly on the Rhine. The Old Waterworks is an authentic site of contemporary history and is part of the World Conference Center Bonn (WCCB). It was the temporary seat of the Federal German Parliament ( ) until the New Plenary Chamber was completed. It was here that the resolution to move the German Federal Parliament to Berlin was passed on 20 June ACCESSIBILITY The favorable position of Bonn, in the heart of Europe, offers an ideal venue location not only for European companies, but also companies from Africa, the Middle East and Asia. You can't be any more central. The Bonn region is located: in the center of Europe between the Rhine-Ruhr and Rhine-Main regions within reach of three international airports (Cologne/Bonn, Düsseldorf and Frankfurt) in 15 to 60 minutes with two connections to the ICE high-speed rail network with optimal connections to the German motorway network with attractive hotels at affordable prices

6 PRACTICAL INFORMATION TIME AND PLACE IPS - International Procurement Seminar will take place on November 17 th -18 th, 2015 from 8:30 to 17:00 at the UN Campus Bonn Platz der Vereinten Nationen 1 D Bonn, GERMANY Please note that all presentations as well as the bilateral meetings will be held in English. FEE Participation fee is EUR 590,00 (first participant) or EUR 440,00 (second participant). Included in the fee are participation in the seminar, coffee breaks, lunch and beverages as well as a networking dinner buffet. UN ORGANIZATIONS Representatives from the procurement and technical staff of several European UN- Organizations will take part in the seminar. TRADE FAIRS The event can also conveniently be combined with two important trade fairs: AidEx in Brussels and Medica in Düsseldorf.
