1 California EFNEP Make-Up Lesson Guidelines The Eating Smart Being Active sequence consists of s delivered over an -week period of time. California EFNEP policies require participants to complete a minimum of s, of which must be face-to-face, to graduate and receive a certificate. While it is ideal for participants to attend all s, in the instance of a participant who is unable to attend all classes, these make-up guidelines have been established to help a participant receive the information missed and to receive a Certificate of Completion and graduate. The make-up s are adapted from the Eating Smart Being Active curriculum for the Learn-at-Home project and are on the EFNEP website. California EFNEP requires all participants to complete the About Me and Checklist forms and 33% of participants to complete the Tracker. These guides have been prepared to complement the following: () EFNEP Lesson Sequence with My Healthy Plate (MHP) Eight -Hour classes without Tracker, () EFNEP Lesson Sequence Eight -Hour classes without Tracker and (3) EFNEP Eight -Hour classes with Tracker. (All sequences are posted on EFNEP website.) Make-up s instructions: ) When a participant misses a class, the educator contacts the participant to ensure the participant plans to return and is not dropping out. ) The make-up for the class missed can be mailed or given to the participant at the beginning or end of the next class. 3) The educator may call or follow-up with the participant to check if they have any questions, have read the, or did the activity in the. The incentive is given to the participant after they have given the educator the completed make-up. ) The make-up must be completed and returned before the last (Lesson ). ) When a participant has completed the make-up, record this date on your Attendance Sheet. ) In some counties, participants may enroll at Class. It is important, if participants enroll at Class, that they complete the Checklist and About Me before the educator starts delivering Lesson. The Checklist includes topics covered in Lesson and. 7) If a participant misses Lesson after completing six or more s/five face-to-face, the educator may choose to mail, give the make-up and the Checklist to the participant at a later date or leave with the agency staff. The participant must complete the Create a Meal Plan activity and return with the completed Checklist to receive a graduation certificate and walking DVD. The Educator may call to remind the participant to complete the Checklist. ) Remember, the participant must complete at least s to graduate and of the s must be face-to-face. 9) Please note: The make-up handout sequence are not always the same topic as the ESBA or MHP. For example: For Lesson, use Make-Up -Go Lean with Protein and Be a Label Detective.

Select one of the following options, depending on the sequence the educator is using.
