1 THE SOCIETY OF ADVOCATES OF UNIVERSITY OF INDONESIA (IKATAN KEKELUARGAAN ADVOKAT UNIVERSITAS INDONESIA) ( IKA ADVOKAT UI ) As one of the alumnus Faculty of Law at the University of Indonesia, Suria Nataadmadja and few others alumnus have initiated a formation of an organization as a union amongst the alumnus of Law Faculty University of Indonesia called the Society of Advocates of University of Indonesia ( Ikatan Kekeluargaan Advokat Universitas Indonesia or IKA Advokat UI ). IKA Advokat UI is coordinated directly by Suria Nataadmadja with assistance from other members, among other is Shanty Dewi as the Secretary. Various activities had been held by IKA Advokat UI which was sponsored by several parties, and one of them is Suria Nataadmadja & Associates, those activities are listed below: 1. INFORMAL GATHERING WITH BANI This event is purposely to introduce the Society of Advocates of University of Indonesia (IKA Advokat UI) to The Management of Indonesia Arbitration Board (BANI) and was held on the 8 th May 2009 in Jakarta. This event was attended by Professor Dr. Priyatna Abdurasyid as a Chairman of BANI, Suria Nataadmadja as the Coordinator of IKA Advokat UI and Shanty Dewi as the Secretary of IKA Advokat UI, also several other board members. 1

2 2. INFORMAL MEETING WITH THE HEAD OF CENTRAL JAKARTA DISTRICT COURT. In order to cooperate with government institutions to support the activities which will be held by IKA Advokat UI, the board management initiates an informal meeting with the Head of Central Jakarta District Court, Ms.Andriani Nurdin, SH., MM. The meeting was held on May 11 th 2009, in Jakarta. 3. DISCUSSION OF LAW NO. 4 YEAR 2009 REGARDING MINERAL AND COAL IKA Advokat UI first discussion was held on the 10 th June 2009 at Graha F&F, Wolter Monginsidi St No:15 Kebayoran Baru, Jakarta. In regards of these theme, the concerning discussion was about matters that already has been arrange in Law No. 4 year 2009 regarding Mineral and Coal in comparable with the Law previously which was Law No.11 year 1967 regarding Basic Mining Provisions. The speakers in the discussion are Mr. Haydn Dare from Soemadipadja & Taher and Ms.Selviyani from Suria Nataadmadja & Associates. 2

INTERACTIVE DISCUSSION OF MIXED MARRIAGE AND LAND OWNERSHIP BY FOREIGNER The background of this discussion is the emerges of many issues in mixed marriage and the problems occurred on this issue, whereas to accommodate the interest of the community, IKA Advokat UI feel obligated to share the knowledge with the community through a discussion with the topic on Mixed Marriage and Land Ownership by Foreigner. The discussion was held on June 24 th 2009 at Graha F&F Wolter Monginsidi, Jakarta. This seminar was attended by Advocates, Advocates Candidate, also Public in general. This interactive discussion was presented by Anita D.A Kolopaking, Retno Darussalam dan Winanto Wiryomartani SH.M.Hum, and discussed the topics on housing, residential, right to cultivate (HGU), right to Build (HGB), also Right of Use (Hak Pakai) also the requirements to own a house by foreigners domiciled in Indonesia. 5. INTERACTIVE DISCUSSION OF ISLAM FINANCIAL LAW On the July 16 th 2009 IKA Advokat UI organized the discussion about Syariah Financial Law. This topic was discussed due to the rapid development of Syariah Finance Law in business and economic, thus the knowledge on this issue is still limited. The discussion focuses on the topic of Legal Aspects of Syariah Banking, rules qualifications in Syariah Law into the rule of Civil law, Syariah Bonds (sukuk). The key speakers in the discussion are Iswahjudi A Karim.S.H.LL.M and Mirza A Karim.S.H. LL.M, both from Karimsyah Law Firm. The discussion was held at Graha F&F, Jl. Wolter Monginsidi, Jakarta and attended by the Advocates, Advocates Candidate and public in general. 3

4 6. INFORMAL MEETING WITH PUBLIC PROSECUTOR DEPUTY ON SPECIAL CRIMINAL. On the July 24 th 2009 IKA Advokat UI held an informal meeting with the Junior Prosecutor of Special Criminal (Jampidsus) Mr. Marwan Effendi, S.H., in Jakarta. This meeting was held in order to cooperate with the government institution to support the future activities of IKA Advokat UI. The informal meeting event were attended amongst other by Mr. Suria Nataadmadja S.H. LL.M the Coordinator and Ms. Shanty Dewi, S.H., M.H., as the Secretary of IKA Advokat UI and several other board members. 4

JOGYA-SOLO WORKSHOP VISITING The activities of IKA Advokat UI not only focused in Jakarta region but also outside Jakarta, where on the August 15 th - 19 th 2009 IKA Advokat UI has held the visit to Jogjakarta dan Solo for the workshop of redemption of National Assets and the Result of Criminal conduct in Corruption. The workshop was held by IKA Advokat UI cooperate with National Law Guidance Board (BPHN), which is purposely to extract, collecting and coaching the general opinion from the experts theoretically and practice, also to discuss the possibility to do the comparison with foreign country as an input for the development and establishment of National Law. 5

PANEL DISCUSSION ON THE PERSPECTIVE OF LAW ENFORCER TOWARDS THE CRIMINAL PRACTICE This Panel discussion was held on the August 6 th 2009, located in Graha Toedjoeh Empat, Jalan Wolter Wolter Monginsidi Jakarta. The topic of Perspective of Law Enforcer towards the Practice of Criminal Case, was discussed in consideration that on daily practice the role of an Advocate in handling the criminal case, are often being seen as to protect the felon/ defendant. This plain interpretation shall be corrected and as the party who is directly involved, it is the obligation as an Advocate to correct this false understanding, since the role of an Advocate is indeed to defense the legal interest of the clients. 9. TRAINING ON THE PROCEDURES OF TERMINATION OF AN EMPLOYMENT (PHK) AND THE DISPUTE SETTLEMENT OF AN INDUSTRIAL RELATION Legal training in connection of Manpower Law was held on the August 27 th This training was dedicated to the advocates, Advocates candidate and also for Public in general who were interested to obtain the knowledge concerning the Termination of Employment (PHK) and The Dispute Settlement of an Industrial Relation (PHI). This training was given in referred to Law No.13 year 2003 regarding Manpower, Law No. 2 year 2004 regarding of The Dispute Settlement of an Industrial Relation (PHI) Government Regulation No. 8 year 1981 regarding Wages Protection. The training was presented by Mr. Partogi Pangabean, SH., and was held in Graha Toedjoeh Empat Wolter Monginsidi St, Jakarta. 6

7 10. BREAK FASTING In order to increase a family bonding and friendship and also to build the sense of belongings in all the differences, Suria Nataadmadja and IKA Advokat UI on the September 9 th 2009 held the Break Fasting together. The Break Fasting was held in warm atmosphere, and cheerful yet accompanying with the religious talk by Mr. Hidayat Achyat. On that opportunity Mr. Anjar Pachta Wirana was also given an explanation in connection with Burgelijk Wetboek (BW) and Wetboek Van koophandel (WvK) translation from former Dutch language in to English language. The break fasting event was held in Borobudur Hotel, Jakarta. 7

8 INTERSHIP TRAINING PROGRAM (P2M) As alumni of Faculty of Law from University of Indonesia, IKA ADVOKAT UI has the commitment to organize the internship facilities in advocate s office for the students Faculty of Law University of Indonesia (FHUI) in their last semester and/or advocates candidate. To implement that commitment, IKA ADVOKAT UI has conducted the Internship Training Program of the Society of Advocates of University of Indonesia (P2M IKA ADVOKAT UI). The Internship Training Program (P2M) has been conducted two times as follow: 1. On October 17 th 2009, with the topic of Processes, Procedures and Introduction related to the Law Consultant of Intellectual Property also with the Practice Simulation, presented by Gunawan Suryomurcito, SH, from Gunawan Suryomurcito. Rouse & Co International. 2. On October 31 st 2009, with the topic of Introduction to Professions in the field of Law, determine the legal professions that is interested since early stage, how to become an 8

9 experts in its field and marketing for legal professions. This topic was presented by Suria Nataadmadja, SH., LL.M. from Suria Nataadmadja & Associates as the Coordinator from IKA ADVOKAT UI. 9
