2 SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS. This manual contains imptant instructions that should be followed during installation and maintenance of the ATS. The EATON ATS models that are covered in this manual are intended f installation in an environment within 0 C to 40 C ( F to 04 F) and free of conductive contaminant. Follow the following precautions when wking on this unit. - Remove watches, rings, other metal objects. - Use tools with insulated handles. Examine the packing container. Notify the carrier immediately if any damage is present. Do not disassemble the unit. Do not operate the unit near water in an area with excessive humidity. Keep liquid and feign objects from getting inside the unit. Do not operate the unit close to gas fire. Verify whether the branch circuit breaker fuse on service feed is crect. Verify line voltage requirements and the supplied line voltage pri to installation. This unit is supplied from multiple sources, disconnect all sources befe servicing. 4 . Introduction The EATON Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) is a high availability switch designed f providing redundant power f sensitive equipment. It is powered by two independent power sources and automatically makes a rapid switch from one source to the other when the power supply used to power its connected load fails. This ATS is designed to be efficient and reliable. Users can know EATON ATS s power flow, status, parameters from the LCD interface. Besides, the EATS6N unit has a netwk interface f users to read and write parameters. The netwk interface can be implemented via the Ethernet protocol through an RJ45 connect.. Presentation. Control panel The ATS has three buttons on the control panel and a LCD display. It provides useful infmation about the ATS itself, load status, events, measurements and settings. The ATS continues to operate, but may shutdown if the load increases. The alarm resets when the condition becomes inactive. Elevated Operating Ambient - If installed in a closed multi-unit rack assembly, the operating ambient temperature of the rack environment may be greater than room ambient. Therefe, consideration should be given to installing the equipment in an environment compatible with the maximum ambient temperature (Tmax) specified by the manufacturer.. Reduced Air Flow - Installation of the equipment in a rack should be such that the amount of air flow required f safe operation of the equipment is not compromised.. Mechanical Loading - Mounting of the equipment in the rack should be such that a hazardous condition is not achieved due to uneven mechanical loading. 4. Circuit Overloading - Consideration should be given to the connection of the equipment to the supply circuit and the effect that overloading of the circuits might have on overcurrent protection and supply wiring. Appropriate consideration of equipment nameplate ratings should be used when addressing this concern. 5. Reliable Earthing - Reliable grounding of rack-mounted equipment should be maintained. Particular attention should be given to supply connections other than direct connections to the branch circuit (e.g. use of power strips). Page

Connect the other end of the communication cable to the RS communication pt on the ATS. The ATS can now communicate with EATON power management software. 14 5. Communication Connectivity Cards: EATS6N Connectivity cards allow the ATS to communicate in a variety of netwking environments and with different types of devices. The Netwk-MS card has SNMP and HTTP capabilities as well as moniting through a Web browser interface; connects to Ethernet netwk. Eaton Intelligent Power Software suite Eaton Software suite provides up-to-date graphics of ATS power and system data and power flow. It also gives you a complete recd of critical power events, and it notifies you of imptant ATS power infmation. Page 4

Remove some of the equipment from the ATS.The ATS continues to operate, but may shutdown if the load increases.the alarm resets when the condition becomes inactive. Sht-circuit fault A sht-circuit occurred. Check device connection integrity. If err persists, note the alarm message and the ATS serial number, and then contact your service representative. Source Source power supply fault Internal power supply of one of the source is faulty; the other source is powering the load.
