The ARQ-HFDAC001 design uses specific circuit topology and layout methods to mitigate total ionizing dose effects and single event latch-up. These characteristics make the ARQ-HFDAC001 especially suited for the harsh environment encountered in Space missions. It is guaranteed functional from -55 o C to +125 o C and space qualified The ARQ-HFDAC001 is especially designed to optimize power consumption and dissipates less than 100 mw (TBC) in normal operation, while maintaining a proper performance. This DAC is ideal for telecom (DVB-S/36MHz bandwidth). Full Scale Error Gain Flatness Gain Stability Analog Output Range Total Harmonic Distortion Effective Number of Bits Spurious Free Dynamic Range Operating Current consumption Power Supply Rejection Ratio Sample rate Functional verification This indicates how closely the analog output of a DAC matches its ideal value at full scale. Gain Flatness is the measure of the variation of gain over a specified frequency range Gain Stability is the measure of the variation of gain over the temperature range This is the difference between the maximum and minimum analog output values that the DAC provides. Total Harmonic Distortion is measured with digital code representing sinewave, applied to the DAC input continuously and is the ratio of the rms sum of the first few (5th) harmonic components of the DAC output to the DAC output's fundamental value. ENOB is a measurement of the resolution with a sine wave. It is related to SINAD and is expressed in bits by ENOB = [(SINADdB 1.76)/6.02] Spurious Free Dynamic Range is the difference between the rms power of the fundamental and the largest spurious signal in the given bandwidth. IVCC2 is the consumption current at VCC when the converter is converting at maximum frequency. Power supply rejection ratio (PSRR) is the ratio of the change in power supply voltage to the resulting change in the converter s gain or offset. Maximum operating frequency expresses MSamples Per Second (MSPS). Test that all Registers, different mode are configurable and working properly. 6 DAC analog Input/Output Consideration The DAC has only 1 analog input and 2 analog outputs: Name Direction Reset Value Description BIAS_DAC Input 1.8V This is a pin that has been added for test purpose. It is used to bias the DAC through an external reference instead of the bandgap. OUTp_DAC Output The positive output of the DAC OUTm_DAC Output The negative output of the DAC Table 3: DAC analog Input/Output BIAS_DAC (ExtVbias) BIAS_DAC should be let unconnected in nominal mode (see dac_powerdown in DAC SPI Data Configuration). Since the biasing current depends of the biasing programmable resistor, its nominal value may not be adequate for proper operation due to process variability and may be adjusted (see RbiasProg and RloadProg in DAC recommended procedure). Note: for test purpose, Bias value can be modified by configuring dac_powerdown register at 1 and applying the desired bias voltage (contact ARQUIMEA for more details) Outp_DAC & Outn_DAC It must be noticed that, though internal programmable loads of 50 Ohms are built on-chip, the DAC steers the current through the two output branches. If the DAC output is not connected to high impedance loads, it may distort the differential voltage. DAC digital Input/Output Consideration Name Direction Reset Value Description CLK_DAC Input 100MHz Master clock D[0..14] Output 0 Databus to convert Table 4: DAC digital Input/Output Arquimea Ingeniería, S.L.U. 6

8 ESD CAUTION ESD (electrostatic discharge) sensitive device - Electrostatic charges as high as TBC V readily accumulates on the human body and test equipment and can discharge without detection. Although this product features proprietary ESD protection circuitry, permanent damage may occur on devices subjected to high energy electrostatic discharges. Therefore, proper ESD precautions are recommended to avoid performance degradation or loss of functionality.
