The other gites are called Baloubet and Alme. Gite Double Espoir can sleep 6 adults and 5 children. Double Espoir is hidden away in the heart of rural Normandy, yet easy to reach: immerse yourself in the fabulous French countryside at the Haras du Gazon, only 45 minutes drive from the bustling Channel port at Caen, and less than 3 hours from Paris airport (Charles de Gaulle). Ideal for those who prefer the tranquillity of la terre (countryside) to the Tourist buzz of la mer (the coastline). Basing yourself in this privileged position in the geographical heart and centre of the region, allows you to make interesting day trips to all of the famous sights and discover the varied scenery of this ancient French province, just across the English Channel. Walk through the walled garden and along the gravel path which leads to the front door of Gite Double Espoir. A small, paved, outdoor dining setting next to the entrance extends the open-plan living, kitchen and formal dining area into the Haras gardens ideal for entertaining. Inside, flagstone floors and oak beams overhead are typical of the local traditional farmhouses, while plenty of comfortable armchairs and sofas bring it up to date for relaxing and watching tv (French and English satellite channels) and dvds or browsing the floor to ceiling bookshelves, packed with interesting reading. A well-equipped kitchen (including dishwasher and washing machine) overlooks the garden. Oil central heating and broadband internet access are provided. There is more living space upstairs on the second floor where the bedrooms lead off the large landing. The master bedroom is a large, light room, taking pride of place at the top end of the corridor. A queen sized sleigh bed and solid wooden furniture still leave plenty of extra room for the sofa bed and en suite bathroom. The 2 other double en suite bedrooms both have wonderful views over the rose garden, fields and the village church in the distance, while the children s bedroom at the other end of the hallway is also en suite, has 2 double bunk beds and a large single bed, plus a wall-mounted flat-screen tv and dvd. Double Espoir offers around 250 square metres of living space in total and can accommodate 6 adults and 5 children with an additional sofabed for one extra in the master bedroom. Cot and baby equipment can be provided if required.

'Cabourg and Trouville' Experience for yourself the perfect light shining on the countryside and the charming coastal 19th Century seaside resorts of Cabourg and Trouville, which inspired the artistic traditions of the Impressionists. 'Canoing and Kayaking' Hire canoes or kayaks for an hour or 2 or perhaps take half a days descent down the Orne river from Thury-Harcourt or Clecy. 'Carriage Ride' Drawn by Percheron horses through the Grimbosq forest. 'Chateau de Falaise' Visit the Chateau de Falaise medieval castle and birth place of William the Conqueror. Tour on your own with digital tablets which display the rooms in augmented reality. 'Circular Drive' 'Route de La Suisse Normande' - starting at nearby Falaise and taking in the local beauty spots and natural heritage of this region on a sign posted easy 75km route just to the west of the Haras. You could perhaps take a break by Culey Le Patry and hire a donkey or 2 for a walk through the forest. This is great fun for all ages - the quiet Cotentin donkeys will carry a picnic and even small children as well! 'Cooking Classes' Cooking class at Le Petit Chef in Caen private for 2 or more with subject of your choice or join a (French speaking) class. Children s classes also available. 'D-Day Landing Beaches' Slip from one world to another in the space of a few hours and strike out north to the coast for a day to visit the coastal Heroes the D-day landing beaches. Here the site of probably the most important military operation of all time took place. Superbly presented museums and many expert guides can bring to life the momentous event that took place on the peaceful shorelines you will see today, culminating into an emotional as well as an educational experience for both young and old. 'Festyland Theme Park' Theme park Festyland near Caen about 30 Viking, dinosaur and pirate themed rides. 'Get Active' You can indulge in the delicious, rich local cuisine then balance this up with getting active in the varied landscapes just to the south are the vast forests of the Normandie-Maine Parc Naturel, and the timeless tranquillity of the windmills and Manor Houses of the Perche Region. Cycle ride or hike on greenways (no motorised traffic) along the Veloroute Cote Fleurie Pays d'auge: section 'Mezidon Canon a Lisores': a beautiful broad track along the La Vie river valley passing by half-timbered manor houses, apple orchards and herds of spotted Normande cows. 'Orbec, St Pierre Sur Dives and Livarot' 'La Route des Saveurs' a drive of discovery of the lovely Pays d' Auge, taking in the Ville de Charme of historic Orbec with its famous 'Au Caneton' restarant, St Pierre Sur Dives with its Monday market in the medieval hall: a Marché Traditionnel reserved for local producers of eggs cheese, cream honey and organic vegetables and Livarot with the fabulous (multilingual) tour of the Graindorge Cheese factory where you can see local cheeses being made.
