WHEN DID YOU LAST CHANGE YOUR FUEL FILTER? While your boat takes a break over the winter season, other things are getting down to business. Microorganisms thrive in fuel tank condensation and may cause sludge and block the fuel system. Contaminated fuel is a common problem for boat owners. Engine repairs are often costly. Most serious of all is that engine breakdowns seldom occur in calm waters. Dirt in the tank gets stirred up in rough seas and sucked into the engine. Contaminated fuel immediately leads to damage to fuel pumps and injectors that requires repairs. The engine may begin to smoke, run unevenly and lose power. Starting with model year 2014, we have extended our warranty undertakings to 2+3 years or the equivalent in operating hours, whichever comes first. During the first two years* the warranty covers the full engine package, and main components during the following three* years. Accessories purchased at the same time as the engines are also covered by the extended warranty period. This extended warranty clearly demonstrates the confidence we have in the quality of our products. A few facts about the new warranty During the first two years of use, Volvo Penta s new international limited warranty offers repair or replacement of defective parts for the whole product package. As is customary in the industry, the warranty has a time limit in regards to number of operating hours depending on the engine and drive. However, this time limit is generous considering that the warranty only applies to leisure use. The supplementary warranty is valid for up to three years for main components* and comes into force when the initial warranty period expires. In addition to this, you also have the possibility to further protect your engine package during the last three years by purchasing our Extended Coverage. Anodes are sacrificed to protect your drive and propellers against galvanic corrosion. Just make sure you use the right type and never paint them. Volvo Penta anodes are specially developed and tested for Volvo Penta drive systems and propellers. In certain cases, the specifications are more stringent than other marine material standards around the world. If 50 percent or more of the anode has corroded away it must be replaced so that it can do its important job once again. Always install original anodes for the best results.
