1 ONTARIO UNIVERSITY ATHLETICS SPORT PROGRAMMING MANAGER Ontario University Athletics, representing twenty member institutions and over 9,000 student-athletes is responsible to oversee and organize interuniversity sport within Ontario, seeks a dedicated, detailed oriented individual who has a vast knowledge of university sport with experience in sport programming and the ability to work in a team environment. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the purpose of this position is to oversee the management of sport programming services for a portfolio of sports in the Market Driven and High Performance categories of the OUA Sport Model. The primary focus of the position will be providing guidance and oversight for the sports leaders, host and members. Specific responsibilities will include but are not limited to; performing operational activities, sport competition scheduling, management and development of sport rules, regulations and policies, administration of coaches meetings, statistics and recognition awards management, strategic development, event execution and the management of direct reports also responsible for individual portfolios of sports. To succeed in this position, you must have excellent interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills and experience in sport programming. The ideal candidate will be a critical thinker having a minimum of 3-5 years of work experience in university sports and/or with an amateur sport organization in sports administration, have a tremendous work ethic, is detail oriented, is innovative and possess a general knowledge and appreciation for all sports. Experience with all Microsoft Office applications is a must. A degree/diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution is essential. A bachelors/masters degree in sport management, kinesiology or equivalent is preferred. The salary range for this full time permanent position is $48,600 $65,500 annually plus a comprehensive health benefits package and investment contribution plan. 2 OUA Job Description Date: May 2015 Job Title: Sport Programming Manager (Market Driven /High Performance Sport) Reports To: Director of Operations Job Purpose Reporting to the Director of Operations, the purpose of the job is to lead the management of sport programming services in a portfolio of Market Driven Sports and High Performance Sports including but not limited to: sport competition scheduling, sport rules and regulations monitoring and development, coaches meetings, officials agreements, sports operations, statistics and recognition awards, discipline, sport development and OUA event execution. In addition the Sport Programming Manager will also be responsible for overseeing staff responsible for the management of sport programming services for the High Performance and Competitive sports categories of OUA Key Results Expectations 1. Ensure all communications relating to sports programming are completed accurately and on time. 2. Ensure the operationalization of the OUA Sport Model principles and strategies. 3. Ensure all officials contracts are current and implemented according to their terms. 4. Ensure the coordination of all student-athlete sport recognition in a timely manner. 5. Provide expertise and advice to internal and external community regarding sport related matters. 6. Provide event management expertise for OUA Championships 7. Be current on all sport technical regulations and rules. 8. Provide leadership in ensuring consensus and common knowledge exists on rules and regs through the OUA and are in sync with CIS regulations by working closly with Sport Committee 9. Ensuring information on rules and regulations is available, up to date and well communicated to members 10. Coordination of OUA championship events and supporting/liaison with the OUA championship host schools. 11. Management of Staff including coaching, mentoring and performance planning 12. Provide budget oversight for portfolio including administration of fees, cost recoveries, revenues sharing and allowable expenses. Duties & Responsibilities The following is a list of the essential duties and responsibilities of this job. Activities with greater time allocation are placed toward the top of the list. The tasks and the time spent performing each task may vary as business needs require. The organization maintains the right to modify job duties and responsibilities at its discretion. Flexible work hours will be required to meet the seasonal needs of the organization. Duties 1. Provide guidance, oversight and administrative support for Institutions, Coaches, Event Hosts, Sport Experts and Sport Leadership Groups

3 2. Provide leadership and support for two direct reports 3. Disseminate guidelines and minimum standards and ensure compliance with all OUA sport regulations, policies and procedures. 4. Oversee administration of Scheduling Process Regular season and post season for league sports and identification of invitational schedule for tournament sports 5. Oversee administration of All-Star and Award processes 6. Liaising with championship hosts to coordinate and execute events where appropriate within portfolio. 7. Oversight of officials including, OUA Basketball Officials Oversight Committee, providing leadership for OUA RIC and Supervisors, facilitating officials payments, guiding development 8. Carry out sport operational activities (i.e. Game film, event entry, eligibility verification, etc.) 9. Facilitate coaches meeting (including chairing, creation of agenda and development of minutes and motions) 10. Develop Sport Reports including preseason, year-end and strategic reports Identification of issues arising in the sport Recommendations for the development of the sport Rotations for future Championships where appropriate Financial Report (Championships, Sport Reserve Accounts) 11. Sport Specific Advisor to OUA committees (i.e. Sport Committee, Management Committee, etc.) 12. Settle disputes regarding rules and technical matters as per OUA policies 13. Carry out all Discipline matters as per OUA policies 14. Lead development of strategic decision-making for portfolio of market driven sports including analyzing the sport landscape and identifying opportunities for OUA 15. Lead development initiatives with OUA partners (i.e. PSOs, NSOs, etc.) 16. Provide leadership in the development of KPIs 17. Perform other duties as required. Educational Requirements: Education Required: Bachelors Degree in sport management, kinesiology, or equivalent.
