2 Floor plan Enter the building through the main entrance (glass door) and continue straight on the ground floor, circumventing the guard's box on either side. There are a few steps down and you will arrive to the aula with the registration desk and the main lecture hall. The local registration will open at 8:00 on Monday and at 8:30 on every other day of the conference. 4 Arrival in Vienna By Airplane The Vienna International Airport (VIE) in Wien-Schwechat is situated about 20 km south-east of Vienna. On the airport's web site you find flight information as well as transportations into the city center: Local Train: S-Bahn to station Wien-Mitte/Landstrasse (takes 24 minutes). Departure from the airport about every 30 minutes. Tickets are available at vending machines directly at the station (2 zones: 4.40 Euros) and are valid for connections in Vienna as well (urban railways, underground, tram and bus). All lines are going to Wien-Mitte or beyond, but please mind the right direction (just follow the crowd - hardly anybody goes in the opposite direction). From there take the underground U4 to Karlsplatz, then walk to the venue, passing St. Charles's church. City Airport Train (CAT) to terminal station Wien-Mitte/Landstrasse (takes 16 minutes). Departure from the airport every 30 minutes (single ticket 11 Euros). By Train If you prefer travelling by train you will find all the necessary information at the Austrian Federal Railways website or via phone How to reach the venue from railway stations: from Wien Hauptbahnhof (terminal railway station West): Underground U1 to "Taubstummengasse", or tram line 1 (direction "Prater Hauptallee") to stop "Paulanergasse" from Wien Westbahnhof (terminal railway station West): Underground U3 to "Stephansplatz", change there to U1 and exit at stop "Taubstummengasse" from Wien Meidling (terminal railway station South & East): Tram line 62 or Badner Bahn (direction Oper) to stop "Paulanergasse" from Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof (terminal railway station North-West): Tram line D (direction "Südbahnhof") to stop "Gusshausstrasse" from Wien-Nord / Praterstern (railway station North): Underground U1 to "Taubstummengasse" By Car Coming by car is generally not recommended, as the car will rather be a burden in the city, while public transportation coverage is excellent. For more information, consult the parking management website of the City of Vienna. There are also underground car parks close to the venue, but they are rather costly. Further information can be found on the VCI2016 website under the tap Travel: Public Transport in Vienna Some basic facts about public transportation: Luckily, all means of public transportation within the city limits can be used with the same ticket: Underground ( U-Bahn ) Urban Railways ( S-Bahn ) Tramway Bus Underground S-Bahn Tramway Bus Even a single ticket allows (multiple) connections, but no return trips. Where do I get a ticket? Various types of tickets are sold at tobacconists ( Trafik ), at vending machines in underground and S-Bahn stations and in some hotels. Even though there are also other options, it is highly recommended that you buy the ticket before you enter the means of transportation. Buy and print your ticket online! (

6 There are several types of tickets: Single ticket (2.20 Euros) Ticket with 4 single strips (8.80 Euros) - each strip is valid for one person and one zone. The whole city is one zone; a trip to the airport (by S-Bahn) requires a second zone (see the information in the arrival section). A multi-strip ticket can be shared by up to four people as long as everybody has his/her own strip. At vending machines (e.g. at the airport), you can also purchase tickets with 2 zones (=valid to go to the city). Weekly pass: valid Mo 0:00 a.m. - Mo 9:00 a.m.; transferable (16.20 Euros) Various tickets valid for a day or more Half-price tickets are required for children (aged 6-15) Tickets must be stamped when beginning your journey. Please refer to the conference website at for details. Internet Access We will provide personalized WLAN access for all participants. You will find the access code in the conference bag. Eduroam will be also available. Uploading All talks and posters should be uploaded to the Indico conference website. The presentation files should be uploaded the day before the talk at latest. Posters Poster contributions should be of size A0 and portrait orientation (Width=841mm, Height=1189mm) with some tolerance. Posters will be sorted by topic. The posters will be on display during the whole week. Please make sure to provide your poster on Monday, the first day of the conference. Water It is perfectly safe to drink tap water in Vienna, which is delivered from the mountains of the Alps about 100km southwest of Vienna.

12 Proceedings Elsevier/North-Holland Publishing Company will publish the proceedings of the Vienna Conference on Instrumentation as a special (but consecutively numbered) issue of Nuclear Instruments & Methods in Physics Research, Section A. The final decision of papers for publication in NIM A will be made by the International Advisory Committee based on the quality of the contribution. In addition, an extended selection of papers will be made available online on the Conference website. Papers for both, contributed talks and for posters, must not exceed 4 printed NIM A pages. Papers for invited talks must not exceed 8 pages. We ask you to kindly adhere to this strict limit.
