8 Device description 8.1 Function The GSM remote control is equipped with 3 switching outputs. Only the previously configured, authorized call numbers can release the switching operation. Switching output 1 (yellow) : +12V / W-BUS Switching output 2 (black) : +12V Switching output 3 (purple) : Ground (not potential-free) The GSM remote control may be used only for the switching of max. 12V, 1A. For the switching of higher voltages / currents you have to use an additional relay. 8.2 Alarm function The GSM remote control is equipped with an alarm input which can be connected to an existing alarm system. After connecting the power supply to the GSM remote control, the voltage level on the alarm input will be stored (0 or +12V). As soon as this level changes, the alarm will be triggered and all stored numbers are informed by call and SMS. 8-28
8.3 Switching acknowledgement Switching by call When switching the GSM remote control by call, you will hear a dial tone. During this time the caller s phone number will be interpreted. In case of a valid phone number the switching operation will be released and you will hear a busy tone Switching by APP or SMS You can query the current switching status of the GSM remote control by sending a SMS with the text "INFO" to the GSM remote control. As from version v9.3 you will obtain a SMS, either if the heater was started successfully or when a fault has occurred. 8.4 Status LED The Status LED shows the current status of the device. Status LED flashing green (every 3s) fighting green flashing red fighting red Standby (logged in) Switching output active Network search (not logged in) fault 9-28
9 SIM card Any SIM card is required for the operation of the GSM remote control (Prepaid or subscription). 9.1 Inserting the SIM card Disconnect the power supply from the device remove the SIM card holder (Please press the release button slightly to release the holder) insert the SIM card into the holder push the SIM card holder into the device connect the power supply 10-28

Switching the ignition on deactivates all switching outputs. The inputs and outputs marked with " " must be connected for the basic functionality of the device. All further connections can be used optionally
11 electrical connection 11.1 General If there is a parking heater already installed, you can connect the GSM remote control directly to the timer or the receiver of the radio remote control. An Y- cable for easy "Plug & Play" connection is available for most operating elements Connection to existing operating element If your parking heater is controlled via a standard operating element (timer, radio remote control) you can connect the GSM remote control with a Y-cable. This Y-cable will be connected instead of the original cable and is equipped with an additional connection for the GSM remote control ensuring the power supply. The Y-cable is available optionally Connection to parking / auxiliary heater The GSM remote control allows the switching of parking heaters which are controlled by +12V, ground, W-bus or E-bus. For this, you have to connect the respective switching output (yellow, +12V/W-bus/E-bus or purple, ground) to the control input of the heater. On our homepage you can find an overview of the output signal required by your vehicle or heater. If you have any question please don t hesitate to contact our customer service
11.2 Connection of ext. button The button / switch is connecting PIN6 (+12V) with PIN5 of the 14-pole connecting plug. There is a ground signal on PIN4 present as long as the switching output is active. PIN4 has a resistor integrated to drive a LED directly. white (red) green (green) brown (brown) DANHAG button 14-pole socket of GSM remote control Wire-colors are coresponding to the original DANHAG button. Colors in brakets are coresponding to the WEBASTO button Difference between button and switch Button: Pressing the button shortly (approx. 1s) will switch on the heater for the preset time. If you want to switch of the heater you have to press the button once again. Switch: The heater is running as long as the switch is closed, however, not longer than the preset time
11.3 Heater blower control The heater blower is only working if the ignition is switched on. If there is a parking heater already installed, the blower will be controlled during the parking heater operation by the heater. Otherwise you have to install a IPCU module or a relay. If you have connected the GSM remote control with an Y- cable to an existing operating device (e.g. timer 1533 or radio remote control T91) the heater blower is controlled by the heater using a relay In vehicles with manual climate control, the blower speed can be set by a multistage switch. In this case you have to install an additional relay. Output 2 (black) + 12V permanent (KL30) relay ground to multi-stage-switch 15-28
using an IPCU-Modul Vehicles with an automatic climate control are using an electronic PWM signal (IPCU) to control the heater blower speed. The blower speed can be set by using the climate controls (digital display). In this case you have to connect an additional IPCU module. The IPCU module is available separately and not included in the scope of delivery. Function: If switched-off, the IPCU module will be looping trough the original PMW signal to the heater blower motor and the blower speed can be set on the climate control unit as usual. If the heater has been switched on with the GSM remote control, the heater blower will be controlled directly by the IPCU module
12 Start up Prior to start-up please read the complete instruction manual. Insert the SIM card into the GSM remote control connect the GSM remote control to the 14-pole connector wait until the GSM remote control is logged-in (LED flashing green) configure the GSM remote control After connecting the power supply, the GSM remote control will perform a selftest. The LED will be lighting red for approx. 4 seconds and then begins to flash red (network research). As soon as the GSM remote control is logged in into the GSM network, the LED will be flashing green. Now, the remote control is ready to operate and can be configured. Please deactivate the PIN query prior to the insertion of the SIM card. Otherwise the GSM remote control cannot log in into GSM network. Therefore please insert the SIM card if required - in a "normal" mobile phone and use the function "Deactivate PIN query"
13 Configuration After the first start you have to configure the GSM remote control per SMS once. The settings are stored, even in case of disconnecting the power supply. The following functions and settings can be configured: Password for the SMS configuration you will need the 5-digit password the password can be modified and must consist of 5 figures (preset "12345") after a reset the password will be set back to Running time Determines how long the switch outputs will be activated. from 1s - 59s from 1min 999min permanent Switch-on delay Determines if switching output 2 (black) will be activated at once or delayed. Switch-off delay Determines how long switching outputs 2 (black) and 3 (purple) will remain active after the heater has been switched off
Output signal Determines which output signal is used at switching output 1 (yellow). You will find an overview of the output signal required by your heater or vehicle at: Alarm delay Determines how long the alarm signal must be present continuously before the alarm is triggered. Phone numbers / Master number you can specify 5 authorized phone numbers Phone number 1 is the master number to which all info SMS will always be sent The GSM remote control will perform the switching operation only if it is switched by one of the authorized phone numbers per APP, SMS or call Please enter the phone number with the international prefix (e.g. +49 for germany). The phone number must not exceed 17 digits in total
Special function Determines if switching output 3 (purple) will be switched together with switching output 2 (black) (standard) or if switching output 3 can be switched separately by SMS using "ON2" or "OFF2". Status report (from SW Version v9.3) Determines if and which status reports will be sent by the GSM remote control. 0: all status reports deactivated 1: only fault messages 2: only switch-on messages 4: only switch-off messages If you want to be informed about several events, you have to add up the corresponding numbers. E.g. for fault and switch-off messages you have to enter 5. (1 + 4 = 5) Status reports will be supported from SW Version v9.3 and only for W-Bus controlled heater
