Once the U.S. expanded from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean, many Americans suggested that the United States continue expanding by moving outside of the their border. European countries were expanding their power by colonizing parts of Africa and Asia, and many people in the United States did not want to be left out of this time period of IMPERIALISM.
