1 Database upsize instructions from Access to SQL Server This upgrade procedure is designed to work with version 6.5 (or later) of sitehelpdesk, sitehelpdesk-it, or sitewebdesk and with SQL Server version 6.5 (or later including SQL Express). If you have any other versions then please contact sitehelpdesk for instructions. IMPORTANT you must follow the steps of the upsize as described here. Connection to the database from the helpdesk is made using SQL authentication via the ODBC connection, so set Mixed mode for the SQL server authentication. Within the SQL server configuration manager, enable named pipes tcip/ip in protocols. The SQL browser service needs to be started as well. NOTE : If you receive an Overflow error while using the Upsizing tool then Microsoft has a bug fix available at Upsizing using MS Access The upgrade utilises the Microsoft Access Upsizing Wizard. If upsizing to SQL Server 2005 or older then Microsoft Access 2000/2003 can be used. If upsizing to SQL Server 2008 then Microsoft Access 2010 must be used. If you do not have Microsoft Access installed on the server then you can upsize from a client PC by mapping a drive to the server ro copying the shddb.mdb file to your PC.

2 Upsize database to SQL Server Open \sitehelpdesk\database SHDD.MDB database in Microsoft Access Select Tools, Options, (Access 2008 users right click on Tables list header and Select Navigation options) and check the box to show Hidden Objects Right click on LICENSE table and update properties to remove Hidden attribute Right click on OPERATOR table and update properties to remove Hidden attribute Select Tools, Utilities, Upsizing Wizard (Install if necessary check Access Help) (Access 2008 users select Database Tools and the SQL serve move data icon) Select Create New Database and click Next Select Server name, enter SQL login id (sa) and password, enter database name as SHDDB and click Next (for SQL Express enter SERVERNAME\SQLEXPRESS ) Select All Tables (>>) and click Next Set Options as follows and click Next Select No Application Changes and click Next Click Finish to upsize the database Once complete a Report will be generated

3 Prepare SQL Database Open a SQL Query Window (from SQL Enterprise Manager or SQL Management Studio) Ensure you are connected to the SHDDB database Open up the following scripts (in sitehelpdesk\sql folder) and execute against the SHDDB database CreateUser.sql or CreateUser2005.sql Note: This script will create a SQL logon/user id and password SHDUSER as the DBOWNER of the helpdesk database (SHDDB) The ID and password used matches the one in cnconst.inc and also used in the ODBC connection. (The id and password may be changed to your own preference for better security but must also be updated in ODBC and conconst.inc below to match). If you manually create the SHDUSER account in SQL Server then make sure that the password does not Enforce password Policy and is set not to be required when first logging in and will not expire.

4 Configure database connection DSN Open up ODBC manager Delete any existing sitehelpdesk ODBC connection Create a new System DSN called sitehelpdesk with the following properties :- Driver : SQL Server Name : sitehelpdesk Server : {SQL Server} Authentication : Use SQL Server Authentication Login ID : shduser Password : shduser Default Database : SHDDB Update \sitehelpdesk\cnconst.inc Edit cnconst.inc in notepad to add to comment out use of Access and remove the from SQL to make that active. Effects DBType and SystemDSN lines. Change From DBType = "Access" SystemDSN = "DSN=" & DSNName 'DBType = "SQL" 'SystemDSN = "DSN=" & DSNName & "; UID=shduser; PWD=shduser" To 'DBType = "Access" 'SystemDSN = "DSN=" & DSNName DBType = "SQL" SystemDSN = "DSN=" & DSNName & "; UID=shduser; PWD=shduser" Save file and test login.

5 SLAmonitor / EMLmonitor users You will need to configure the modules to connect to the SQL database. Launch SLAmonitor or EMLmonitor.exe Go to config and remove the Service Close the config window and change database Type from Access to SQL for the database. Go into config gain and save the service. If you have multiple installations you will need to do this for each. Sitehelpdesk Alerter users This will also need to be changed from going to Access to SQL Server. You can right click on the Alerter desktop icon and configure from there. Follow these instructions.
