WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM DUAL CITIZENSHIP OR RECOVERY OF CITIZENSHIP? - Persos who were Luxembourg Citizes ad had lost their citizeship because they acquired a foreig citizeship ca recover their iitial Luxembourg citizeship you must be 18 years old; - Persos whose lieal acestor was a Luxembourg Citize as of Jauary 1 st 1900 ca recover their acestors Luxembourg citizeship; proof of a Luxembourg acestor called a Certificat d Aieul (Certificate of Acestor) ca be obtaied by mail or i perso by applyig to the Miistry of Justice i Luxembourg please refer to sectio 1 below for details; - Luxembourgers who wish to acquire a foreig citizeship without losig their Luxembourg citizeship; - Persos holdig a foreig citizeship who wish to acquire Luxembourg citizeship without losig their preset foreig citizeship. IMPORTANT NOTES: - Applicats should always verify with the competet authorities of their coutry of citizeship whether the law of this first coutry also accepts the priciple of dual (or multiple) citizeship. - Applicats who would like to recover Luxembourg citizeship eed to provide either proof of former Luxembourg citizeship before acquirig a foreig atioality or proof of lieal Luxembourg acestry. FIRST STEP: REQUESTING A CERTIFICAT RELATIF A L AIEUL LUXEMBOURGEOIS BY MAIL (or i perso) The first step i recoverig your Luxembourg Citizeship is to apply for a Certificat Relatif a L Aieul Luxembourgeois (Certificate of Luxembourg Acestry) which we suggest that you do so by mail i order to save time. You must prove that your acestor had Luxembourg atioality as of Jauary 1 st, 1900 by submittig proof through birth / death / ad marriage certificates It is your resposibility to obtai the required documets, please refer to the documet How to obtai your Luxembourg Acestor Certificates.
