1 College of Applied Science and Technology ROAD TO SUCCESS Since 1964, thousands of people have advanced their careers at Summit County s only community college. In 2014, the college reorganized and expanded the academic unit and renamed it the College of Applied Science and Technology. Today you can choose from approximately 30 associate degree programs, 11 bachelor s degree programs, many certificate programs and professional development opportunities. Schrank Hall South CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY * ** ⱡ You can gain a strong foundation in mathematics, physics, technical drawing and communication skills, preparing you for opportunities in a variety of residential and commercial construction fields. ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY * ** ⱡ Through a solid understanding of fundamental concepts, this program teaches you how to develop, manufacture, install, test and maintain electronic equipment and systems. GEOGRAPHIC AND LAND INFORMATION SYSTEMS (GIS/LIS) * ⱡⱡ This program prepares you to enter the job market as a GIS/LIS technician for business and industry. Emphasis on understanding and applications of digital geographic data. MANUFACTURING AND AUTOMATED MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY * ** Gain training in computer-aided manufacturing including DAC, CNC, PLCs and quality control. Our industrial supervision option emphasizes administrative and technical aspects of first-line supervision. MECHANICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY * ** ⱡ This program prepares you to work as a technician to develop, design, manufacture, test and service mechanical equipment, machines and products. 3 Public Service Technology Would you like a career that also benefits your community? We offer hands-on, practical experience to teach you how to help others and act as an agent for change. Earn a Bachelor of Science in Emergency Management or an Associate of Applied Science in one of four technical programs. All AAS programs lead to step-up baccalaureate degrees. Polsky Building EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ** This unique bachelor s degree program can be obtained through the step-up option building on a related associates degree OR through a traditional degree option. Students study all areas of disaster management including response planning, disaster mitigation and recovery, disaster behavior, terrorism, leadership, and disaster hazard typologies. The all hazard approach is taught with students being able to work in many different sectors of emergency management including hospitals, government, nonprofit, and business sectors. This program is accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress. CRIMINAL JUSTICE TEHNOLOGY * You can gain knowledge, skills, and technical expertise in the administration of justice as you prepare for a career in law enforcement, criminal investigation, security administration, forensics, the court system, or corrections. EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT * Receive training that will enable you to work in early childhood settings with children from infancy to 5 years of age. After graduation, you may go on to direct your own center, become a family day care provider, or teach in a child care center. EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES TECHNOLOGY * This program is designed for Certified National Registry Emergency Medical Technical-Paramedics who seek to continue their education and develop technical skills. FIRE PROTECTION TECHNOLOGY * Graduates of this program are prepared to serve various fire protection agencies in fire prevention and suppression, property protection, fire investigation, hazardous materials and emergency response preparedness. The program is accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress. * Associate of Applied Science ** Bachelor of Science Applied General & Technical Studies Your general studies needs for English, mathematics and social sciences courses can be met here by student-centered faculty who are dedicated to teaching and learning. Faculty in the department work closely with your tutoring services to provide educational tools that can help you successfully complete your general studies courses. Polsky Building ASSOCIATE OF ARTS Through basic coursework and general education courses, you ll become the kind of individual who understands effective social values, scientific facts, and is a socially intelligent contributor to society. ASSOCIATE OF SCIENCE This degree teaches students to think critically and creatively about their perceptions of ideas, events and people. The core curriculum emphasizes mathematics and science, but also includes English, history, and social studies. ASSOCIATE OF TECHNICAL STUDIES Enables students to combine certifications (state, national, vendor), earned through an educational entity or a place of employment, with general education courses to meet the associate degree requirements. Anyone is eligible to pursue the ATS degree if they have received significant certifications for educational and/or workplace training.
