8 Important Note: This is a high precision electronic PEV-165E. Please handle the unit with care. Do not drop or throw the unit on floor. Note: This Electronic Scale should be used in consistent manner for the precise reading of your body fat, water, muscle and weight. The readings may very between this analyzer and other methods of measurement. The changing in body fat percentage shown by this Electronic Scale will be reflected precisely. Note: Drinking coffee, beer, wine, alcohol, and taking diuretic medications or workouts. These all affect your level of hydration and the accuracy of this analyzer. Please wait a few hours before taking a body fat reading Important: Err: Your feet are not making good contact with the four metal plates on top of the glass platform. Monitoring Total Body Water percentage in the body: Water is an important component of the body. Water combines up approx % of the total body s weight. It is there partly added in lean tissue compared to fat tissue. Water is a standard for biochemical reactions that normalize body functions. Waste products are passed in water from cells for flow in sweat and urine. Water helps to keep body temperature; provides moisture and lubricates body. The level of water in the body changes with the hydration level of the body. Watching the level of body water is necessary for one s health maintenance. The likely Total Body Water percentage may differ according to your hydration stage. The amount of water you have drunk or how much you have sweated straight away before to the measurement will affect the readings. It is recommended that to avoid fluctuation in hydration level before using the scale. This Electronic Scale uses bioelectrical impedance Analysis, which is one of the most precise ways of measuring body fat, water and muscle. It sends a harmless signal through the fat and muscle in your body. It calculates your personal weight, body fat, body water and muscle almost at the same time. It gives you a more precise reading of your on the whole health and fitness. Trouble Shooting: 1. Read and understand this manual completely. 2. Clean your feet with a clean slightly dampened cloth. 3. Clean the glass platform and the 4 metal contact plates with a lightly dampened cloth. 4. Place your unit on the same hard, dry and smooth and flat surface for better performance. Page: 7
9 Measure Your Body Fat: Watching your body fat is important to your health and fitness. Healthy body levels can help reduce your chances of developing serious health related problems. High blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease, diabetes, and cancer, to name a few are no fun to deal with. Body fat is also a main factor in athletic performance. It used to be, you would have to see a medical or professional to obtain information of your body fat. Now, with the Produex s body Fat Analyzer and Scale, simply enter your personal data and step onto the scale to obtain the readings by you. Battery Removal: Step 1 (Remove Screw) Step 2 (Remove Cover) Step 3 (Remove Batteries) Battery Installation: Reverse the above mentioned 3 steps to install (2) batteries. Battery Installation: See Fig. A Item # 8 (Battery Compartment Cover) The Electronic Scale uses 2 X 3-Volt Lithium (CR 2032) Cells. 1. Remove Battery compartment cover at the bottom of the scale (see Fig. A Item #8 ) and insert the 2 X 3-Volt Lithium Cells into battery snap. (Fig. 1) 2. The scale needs to be initialized before first use or after battery replacement: Press lightly on the scale platform. The display will show Then the scale will automatically turn off. Your scale is now ready for use. 3. Replace the battery when Low Battery Warning is displayed. 4. Remove the cells if the product is to be stored for a long time. Battery disposal: DO NOT DISPOSE OF BATTERIES IN FIRE. BATTERIES MAY EPLODE OR LEAK Warning: Do not Mix Old and New Batteries. Do not Mix Alkaline, Standard (Carbon-Zinc.) or Rechargeable (Nickel Cadmium) Batteries. When trashing the batteries - The batteries must be separated from the regular household trash. Please consult with your local authorities for batteries disposal instructions. Page: 8
10 Battery First-Aid: Battery may leaks in extreme weather and conditions. If leaks get on skin and eyes, flush area with cold water and seek medical attention immediately. Suggestion: Suggestion of Body Fat Levels Age in Years yrs yrs yrs yrs 59 plus Men 14% 15% 17% 18% 19% Women 19% 20% 21% 22% 23% ** American College of Sports Medicine 1. The percentage total body water of an individual differs according to age and gender. The table as follows may be used as a suggestion. Male Female Age Fat Water Age Fat Water % % 49% % % % % 48% % % % % 44% 2. Do measure body fat, body water, or weigh at the same time each day. 3. It is recommended to use the scale without clothing for accurate readings. Clothes can affect the percentage calculation. 4. Slightly damp Feet must be bard and clean to result accurate readings. Hydration Level: This electronic scale computes your weight, the electrical impedance of your body, and adds those readings with the data of your input (Age, Height, Gender,). The scale will calculate your body fat percentage accurately. The ideal time for use of this scale is in the evening. Female will have more difference in water content then male and require watching their reading over a longer period of time to set up a personal average. You must decide this as a reference only before calculating progress in a health program. The stage of hydration differs throughout the day and affects the impedance calculating. If a person is dehydrated, there is a good chance for difference in the body fat percentage displayed by this electronic scale than when the person is fully hydrated. Page: 9
