1 Data in the UDS Mapper

2 Data 2 Data in the UDS Mapper Patient data in the UDS Mapper are derived from the Uniform Data System (UDS) count of patients by ZIP Code for all health centers UDS data are submitted to HRSA by Heath Center Program grantees and look-alikes (collectively referred to as health centers ) every calendar year A variety of demographic data on the total population, including health, economic, and social factors, are also available in the UDS Mapper

3 Data in the UDS Mapper: Geographic Level The majority of data in the UDS Mapper are shown by ZIP Code Tabulation Area (ZCTA), using 2010 ZCTA boundaries What is a ZCTA, and why does the UDS Mapper use this geography? Health centers report patients by ZIP Code; however, ZIP Codes are simply driving routes, created by the US Postal Service Data 3 ZCTAs are an approximation of the area covered by ZIP Codes, created by the US Census Bureau

4 Data in the UDS Mapper: Geographic Level (continued) In most cases, a ZIP Code very closely matches a ZCTA For reference, the shows all ZIP Codes and the corresponding ZCTAs Data displayed at other geographies: Data in the Community Health View tool are mapped at a variety of geographic levels Users can also add their own data at a variety of geographic levels Data 4
