5 Master of Business Administration (MBA) Total Fee 6,950 * Duration 12 Months Requirements A Bachelors degree from a recognised university with good grades (should be equivalent to a UK Bachelors (Hons) degree) Should be at least 21 years old The normal expected IELTS requirement for entry to the programme is a minimum of IELTS 6.0 The Master of Business Administration (MBA) attracts people from a wide range of academic disciplines. The core modules in the MBA programme are designed to introduce students to the various areas of business such as Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Human Resource Management and Strategic Management. Students on the MBA programme also have a choice of specialist electives, before commencing a Major Project. This course leads to an MBA degree awarded by the London School of Commerce Malta. It is accredited at Level 7 in the Maltese Qualifications Framework. This is internationally recognised as equivalent to UK Masters Level 7 and European Qualifications Framework Level 7. Students who do not have the required English capabilities are able to study pre-sessional Academic English courses. LSC Malta offer 4, 8 and 12 month Academic English courses for 1,950, 2,950 and 3,950 respectively. Students who complete the Academic English courses at LSC Malta will be able to study the full-time 12 month MBA degree at LSC Malta for a discounted price of 5,950. Dr. Lester Massingham PhD - Dr. Lester Massingham is a world-renowned Marketing and Strategy Consultant to Governments, Private and Public Sector Multinational Enterprises. He is also an accomplished author and has several bestselling books to his credit. He holds the position of Director of Studies for the Executive MBA programme in International Marketing awarded by the Berne University of Applied Sciences and is now Director, MBA for executives, London School of Commerce (UK) Group of Colleges. Professor Geoffrey Lancaster MSc, PhD, DMS, FCIM, FLCC, MIMgt, MCIPS - Author of more than 30 textbooks on marketing and related areas and approximately 100 academic papers and conference addresses in journals. Teaches in Europe, Australia, Africa and Asia. Consultant in the fields of management, media and communications. Professor Lancaster is the Emeritus Dean of the London School of Commerce. Subject Specialisms - Marketing Management and Strategic Marketing. Mervyn Sookun BSc, MSc - has been teaching for 14 years at various British and Australian universities, including the University of Hull, University of Lincolnshire and Humberside and Oxford Brookes University. He has guided a number of student research projects. Subject Specialisms - Corporate Strategy and Total Quality Management. Prof. Dr. Markus Prandini - is a very experienced lecturer in the area of International Business. He is currently the Head of Regional Competence Center Asia-Pacific at ZHAW School of Management and Law in Zurich. Markus Prandini holds several lecture assignments in Economics, Business and Education. His research interests are in the fields of e-learning, intercultural management and informal economics, and internationalisation of small and mid-sized companies. Dr. Daniel Seelhofer - has held senior positions in both the private and education sector over the past 15 years and is currently Vice Dean at one of the largest Swiss business schools. He holds a PhD and a Master s degree in International Management from the University of St.Gallen (HSG) and has lectured in over 12 countries. Additionally, he is a serving officer and former battalion commander with over 20 years experience in the Swiss Army. His research interests revolve around the interplay of leadership and cross-cultural factors. Anand Walser - BSc, MCA, MBA - Anand Walser worked in the corporate world for seven years in the IT and hospitality industries. He was involved with marketing, client relations, systems analysis and auditing departments. Walser Moved into academia and has been there for the last 14 years. He has been involved with universities in UK, Australia and Asia and taught in numerous locations across the globe. He has completed several corporate training programmes and consultancy assignments for businesses in Europe and Asia. Subject Specialisms - International Business, Marketing, Personal Managerial Effectiveness, Business Ethics, Change Management. Khaldoun Dia-Eddine B.Eng MBA - has over 10 years lecturing experience in the fields of business development, management and finance. He holds directorship of several commercial companies and also works as a Business Consultant for various organisations. Subject specialisms - Business Development, Management and Finance. Professor Steve Lumby - has a distinguished career that spans both industry and academia. After working in various capacities for the H J Heinz Company, he went to the London School of Economics (LSE) where he lectured and researched for 13 years. Following further academic appointments, he then moved into the private Higher Education sector and became Managing Director of LCA. He is the author of many academic papers and his standard Corporate Finance textbook is shortly to be published in its 9th edition. Subject specialisms - Financial Analysis and Management, Corporate Finance. William Parrott - has gained his Masters degree at Aberdeen University. He then trained as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG and completed his ACA qualification having achieved first time passes in all papers. Whilst with KPMG he worked in the audit, tax and corporate finance departments. William started his teaching career in 1996 and since that date he has taught on both MBA and professional courses in many countries around the world. Sean Purcell BA, ACMA, CGMA - trained as an accountant with Courtaulds Textiles Plc, leaving as the Group Financial Controller of one of its largest divisions. He is a partner in Wise Up Now, a specialist consultancy helping finance teams deliver higher value to their businesses. He was a founder of Kaplan and has delivered over 50 courses in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Zambia, Croatia and the UK. He currently delivers programmes for the CIMA executive academy, helping keep UK finance directors skills up to date. Sean is a regular contributor to accounting magazines having written over 30 articles. He was voted runner up in lecturer of the year awards by PQ magazine in the UK in 2013 and

7 Student Life in Malta Location Shopping The island of Malta is situated in the centre of the Mediterranean Sea, just south of Italy and north of Libya. This strategic position makes the Islands easily accessible from almost anywhere, with regular, direct flights to many major European and North African countries as well as daily connections to Dubai which facilitates travel to and from the Middle East, Africa and Asia. The two official languages in Malta are English and Maltese with both languages taught and used extensively, making communication and social interaction easy for any English speaker. The Maltese Islands can be described as one big open-air museum with a history spanning 7,000 years and much of the historic architecture and artefacts still very visible today. LSC Malta s modern and well appointed campus is located in the shadow of the majestic city of Valletta. Valletta is Malta s capital city and is a living, working city, the administrative and commercial heart of the Island. The city is busy by day, yet retains a timeless atmosphere. The grid of narrow streets boasts some of Europe s finest art works, churches and palaces. Walking around Valletta one encounters an intriguing historical site around every corner. Narrow side streets are full of tiny, quaint, shops and cafés, while Valletta s main streets are lined with larger international branded shops for fashion, music, jewellery and much more. Travel Buses are the main form of public transportation and are efficient and inexpensive. Malta s main transport hub is located a few metres away from the LSC Malta campus and connections to all parts of the Island are frequent and efficient. Night bus services also run to the major towns and villages from the cultural and entertainment areas, especially in summer and on weekends. Eating Out The restaurant scene is a mix of speciality restaurants including many eateries that offer or specialise in local fare, serving their own versions of local specialities. Practically all tastes in international cuisine are catered for when dining out, including the ubiquitous fast food chains. Maltese cuisine is the result of a long blending between the Islanders and the many cultures which settled in the Maltese Islands over the centuries. A wealth of smaller shops hidden away around every corner and offering an old age charm are still very present in Malta. Extensive shopping malls are completely absent, although some smaller malls are present in various towns. The shopping centres of Valetta and Sliema abounds with a variety of shops offering European high street and designer brands. Markets are also very popular with a weekly Sunday market in Valletta. Most markets sell everything from fresh fruits and vegetables to collectibles and clothes. Leisure and Sport Malta has a number of both sandy and rocky beaches which provide a great place to relax after some hours in the classroom. The clear blue waters of the Mediterranean are irresistible during the hot summer months. Alternatively you may like to burn up some energy and try water skiing, windsurfing or paragliding. Being an island with miles of coastline and fantastic weather for many months of the year, diving and other water sports are very popular. Malta can also offer students a chance to participate in other outdoor activities such as tennis, horse-riding or golf. For those who are curious to find out more about Malta, a walk through the narrow winding streets of Malta s oldest villages can offer an insight into the Maltese lifestyle. Alternatively, cycling through the countryside with its honey coloured rubble walls and rambling paths, provides an enjoyable experience of peace and tranquillity away from the noise and bustle of the towns and villages. Nightlife on the Islands is always bustling. Malta enjoys an effervescent calendar of cultural events with major music concerts held all summer long as well as a thriving year-round clubbing scene. Classical music is very popular on the Islands and recitals take place regularly in the Baroque churches scattered over the Island. Regular orchestral, soloist concerts and operas take place in some stunning historic venues. Theatre is also a lively and well-represented part of the local cultural scene. STUDENT LIFE IN MALTA 5

8 STUDENT ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS Student Academic Requirements Attendance The School undertakes constant monitoring of student attendance at lectures on a daily basis. Weekly percentage attendance figures are available for each student to inspect online. The School requires students to attend all lectures and maintain a high level of attendance throughout their course. The Student Visa, issued by Malta s Ministry for Home Affairs and National Security, is granted on the proviso that the student is attending a full time course at the London School of Commerce Malta. Therefore, non-attendance of lectures means not complying with the conditions under which the visa was issued. Textbooks The student should budget, as part of his/her expenses, to buy the recommended core textbooks for all course modules prior to the commencement of the course. Frequently Asked Questions by International Students What currency is used in Malta? Malta is a member state of the European Union and its national currency is the Euro (Symbol = ). One Euro is approximately equivalent to 1.35 US Dollars (exchange rates will vary). 6 In the event of non-compliance with attendance regulations, the School will inform the sponsors and parents of the erring student. Furthermore, Malta s Ministry for Home Affairs and National Security and the visa-issuing Embassy will be informed of the attendance record. There is a direct correlation between examination pass rates and attendance at lectures. If a student s attendance is unsatisfactory, he/she will be barred from sitting for the School s examinations and will eventually be terminated from the programme. Assessments Students must submit all the relevant assignments on time and deadlines will not be extended. Students must attend classes and sit for all the examinations. Deferments/Changes of Course Students cannot change course or defer the semester without prior written authorisation of the London School of Commerce Malta. Laptop/Computer The student should budget, as part of his/her expenses, to buy a laptop/personal computer prior to the commencement of the course. Fee Payments Course fee includes all costs associated with recruitment and admission and the cost of the tuition fee. When students are paying fees by instalment they must comply with the instalment arrangements pertaining to their course. Deadline dates are set for the balance of fee payments, which must be met by students in order to enable them to progress through their studies. The School fees are not refundable or transferable under any circumstances. In the event of absenteeism or failure in an examination, the student will be required to pay the appropriate resit examination fees which are prevalent at the time. Are Student Visas difficult to obtain? No. Malta adopts an extremely welcoming approach to bona fide international students and, provided you satisfy all entry requirements and security clearance, a visa will be awarded following application through the established procedure. LSC Malta will be happy to advise and guide you through the visa application process. Are there any special health precautions required when travelling to Malta? No. Visitors do not need to take any special health precautions when travelling to Malta. The level of health care is of an extremely high standard. However it is advisable to have medical insurance cover for the duration of your stay since medical treatment may be expensive and is only offered free of charge to residents of the European Union. What languages are spoken in Malta? The local language is Maltese with English being the other national language and spoken by all the population. Italian is also generally well understood and spoken, and several Maltese have learnt French, and to a lesser extent, German or Spanish, at school or privately. Therefore most visitors will not have any difficulties in making themselves understood. Can students work while following LSC Malta courses? Yes. Students will be allowed to work in Malta. A variety of work opportunities ranging from jobs in the hospitality industry to professional placements can be found in Malta. Work rights are only guaranteed provided that you retain a high course attendance and can show good progress with your studies. LSC Malta will be obliged to report students who fail to attend classes or do not make good progress to the Maltese immigration authorities and the right to work may be withdrawn at their absolute discretion in such cases.

9 Admission and Application Process Students are advised to apply well in advance of the course commencement date as courses tend to be oversubscribed. Adequate time should be allowed for the processing of the visa application, confirmation of accommodation and other formalities. To gain admission to courses the following documents are required: Completed application form duly signed by the applicant. Upon acceptance to a programme of studies at LSCM your signed application form, including the Terms and Conditions therein, will be deemed to constitute an agreement between you and LSCM in conformity with the relevant Maltese legislation governing the rights and obligations of students and education service providers. Copies of relevant official educational certificates and transcripts (translated and attested by an authorised representative or notary public). Minimum overall IELTS score of 6.0 with at least 5.5 in all other components or equivalent recognised qualification. IELTS requirements may vary from course to course, please refer to the individual course pages for more information. Curriculum Vitae (CV) in the case of mature applicants, with details of work experience. Country Specific Bursaries/Scholarships The School offers bursaries/scholarships for students from certain countries from time to time. Please contact the School for further details. Confirmation of Admission/Fee Instalments If the applicant has received an offer of admission from the London School of Commerce Malta, they are expected to confirm acceptance by way of paying the tuition fee deposit within 28 days from the date of offer. Admission will not be confirmed if the deposit is not paid. The balance of fees, after deduction of the deposit, can be paid in instalments as specified in the offer letter. The first instalment will be prior to the end of the first semester examinations/assignments and will continue every semester in the same manner. Refund of Tuition Fees The LSC Malta refund policy is as below: a) Fees will be refunded in full, if the student s application is declined by the London School of Commerce Malta b) In the case of overseas students, because of a visa refusal, there will be an administration charge of 250, deducted when this fee refund is paid. ADMISSION AND APPLICATION Details of two referees, of which at least one should be an academic referee. As part of the application process, the London School of Commerce Malta will conduct interviews with each student. c) In the case of overseas students, once a student has obtained a visa, but does not commence the course, 1,650 of the initial deposit will not be refunded. Any deposits paid in excess of 1,650 may be refunded at the sole discretion of the School. In the first instance, prospective students will be interviewed by a local marketing officer. The student will then be interviewed separately by a senior staff member to ensure their suitability for the course. (Interviews will be carried out orally either in person, over the telephone, or through other communication methods). Please Note: Receipt of application does not automatically guarantee a place on a LSC Malta course. The London School of Commerce Malta reserves the right to decline the offer of a place if the candidate does not meet specified requirements at the time of application. d) Once the student has commenced the course, fees will not be refunded. 7
