I cases such as a itermediate stop, where a lock is operated at a desired positio withi the stroke ad air pressure is applied from oly oe side of the cylider, the pisto will lurch at high speed whe the lock is released. I such situatios, there is a dager of causig huma ijury by havig hads or feet, etc. caught, ad also a dager of causig damage to the equipmet. I order to prevet this lurchig, a balace circuit such as the recommeded peumatic circuits (- - to 3) should be used. Selectio Warig. Cosider stoppig accuracy ad the amout of overru whe a itermediate stop is performed. Due to the ature of a mechaical lock, there is a mometary lag with respect to the stop sigal, ad a time delay occurs before stoppig. The cylider stroke resultig from this delay is the overru amout. The differece betwee the maximum ad miimum overru amouts is the stoppig accuracy. Place a limit switch before the desired stoppig positio, at a distace equal to the overru amout. The limit switch must have a detectio legth (dog legth) of the overru amout + a. SMC s auto switches have operatig rages from to mm (depedig o the switch model). Whe the overru amout exceeds this rage, self-holdig of the cotact should be performed at the switch load side. Refer to page -- regardig stoppig accuracy. Selectio Warig 3. I order to further improve stoppig accuracy, the time from the stop sigal to the operatio of the lock should be shorteed as much as possible. To accomplish this, use a device such as a highly resposive electric cotrol circuit or soleoid valve drive by direct curret, ad place the soleoid valve as close as possible to the cylider.. Note that stoppig accuracy will be iflueced by chages i pisto speed. Whe pisto speed chages durig the course of the cylider stroke due to variatios i the load or disturbaces, etc., the dispersio of stoppig positios will icrease. Therefore, cosideratio should be give to establishig a stadard speed for the pisto just before it reaches the stoppig positio. Moreover, the dispersio of stoppig positios will icrease durig the cushioed portio of the stroke ad durig the acceleratig portio of the stroke after the start of operatio, due to the large chages i pisto speed. Use a soleoid valve for ulockig which has a large effective sectioal area, as a rule % or more of the effective sectioal area of the cylider drive soleoid valve. The larger the effective sectioal area is, the shorter the lockig time will be (the overru amout will be shorter), ad stoppig accuracy will be improved. 3. Place the soleoid valve for ulockig close to the cylider, ad o farther tha the cylider drive soleoid valve. The less distace there is from the cylider (the shorter the pipig), the shorter the overru amout will be, ad stoppig accuracy will be improved.. Allow at least 0. secod from a locked stop (itermediate stop of the cylider) util release of the lock. Whe the locked stop time is too short, the pisto rod (ad load) may lurch at a speed greater tha the cotrol speed of the speed cotroller.. Whe restartig, cotrol the switchig sigal for the ulockig soleoid valve so that it acts before or at the same time as the cylider drive soleoid valve. If the sigal is delayed, the pisto rod (ad load) may lurch at a speed greater tha the cotrol speed of the speed cotroller. --
