5 Southwest region One of the most attractive and most beautiful regions in the country, known for its pleasant climate, natural beauty and especially, cultural and historical values is certainly the region of the town Ohrid. The city is among UNESCO World Heritage, located on the shore of one of the oldest lakes in the world. It has impressive and unique old-town architecture, numerous churches and monasteries, but also clean beaches, bars and modern accommodation. In the summer Ohrid and its surroundings is the party capilat of Macedonia. Ohrid is the place where it was created Cyrillic alphabet and Slavic literacy, and where is established one of the oldest Bay of Bones -Torrent underwater beauty Bay of Bones is located along the southern coast of the peninsula Gradiste, near the fishing and tourist village Peshtani. This site is a prehistoric settlement discovered in time belonging to the Late Bronze and Early Iron Age. An interesting way of building these huts that are placed on raised wooden platform built over piles. The need for this type of huts was mostly for protection from waves and land animals. This underwater archeology offers a realistic portrayal of the inhabitants of prehistoric societies, and understanding the way of life that is worth to be preserved for future generations. Struga is a second largest city on the shore of the Ohrid lake, through which runs one of the most beautiful river Black Drim and gives a special beauty of this town. Kalista village is at 5 minutes drive from the city, where you can visit the cave church of St. Mary, which has paintings from three different periods. 8 Pelagonija region Pelagonija actually represents the central region of Macedonia. The valley is surrounded by mountains. Pelagonija the largest granary in Macedonia. The first consulate was opened in Bitola in 1851 by the then Austro - Hungarian Empire. Today, on Main Street in Bitola are the biggest stores, restaurants, a theater, opera, galleries... Here are found the oldest architectural structures and parts of the Balkans, which decorate the city from Turkish times. Typical Turkish town houses and beautiful villas are not rare in this part of town, and at the end of Main Street you enter in the spacious park full with trees that leads to the ancient site of Heraclea Linkestis. The archaeological remains occupy 27 hectares, and the suburbs and cemeteries are located outside the city walls. Stobi is one of the most significant and well-known archaeological sites in the Republic of Macedonia and provides insight into the historical events, material culture, and urban planning of the Hellenistic, Roman, and early Christian settlements in the area. 11 East Region Among Maleshevia and the Mountains of Osogovo, including countless nameless rivers and green grass fields are some of the most interesting cities in Macedonia: Stip, Kocani, Pehcevo, Berovo and Delcevo. This are gentle landscape with lots of sun, lots of water. Malesevo mountains attracts like a magnet. It is a mountain of wild fruits, herbs, honey and dairy products. Berovsko lake is tempting tourists and enthusiasts for pure and untouched beauty and beautiful landscapes. Fifteen kilometers from Probishtip is old volcanic area. The village Lesnovo is famous for its monastery dedicated to St. Lesnovski and the church of St. Archangel Michael, known as Lesnovski monastery. Villagers call the place Merry Wedding because they all remained smiling and the newlyweds are petrified in a gentle hug. Kriva Palanka is an eastern port of our country, a beautiful city located in the mountains and two rivers that offers pleasures to all senses. 12 Doyran Lake Doyran Lake is a shallow lake, whose deepest point is 10 meters. Among its residents belief persisted for centuries that the great Macedonian Alexander III the Great, took its troops to Doyran Bath, to rest and recover in the mud s favor. Some of the older residents remember the piles that existed until about thirty years, and been part of the wooden bridge made armies of Alexander the market today than in Star Doyran to cross the lake to the shore which is now located on the Greek side. Doyran a place that comes with small children to breath the iodine that endemic species of algae that live in the lake emit in the air or to heal themselves with the healing powers of Doyran mud. But unwittingly, a trip to the picturesque and unique beauty of the whole environment around Lake Doyran reveals centuries-long history of this region that persisted since prehistoric times. Southeast region In the southeastern Macedonia are towns Strumica, Radovish, Gevgelia, Valandovo and Doyran. After the tunnel in Demirkapia, the sun shines here more beautiful. You can smell the White Sea and people have already proven their hospitality. In the southeastern part of the country, on the border with Greece, is situated one of three Macedonian lakes, Lake Doyran. Here you will find a variety of endemic animals and plants and 15 species of fish. Smolare waterfall in Strumica is located at an altitude of 600 m, in the region of the village Smolari.
