Tourism has come to a turning point; all of us, business travellers like this week at the Dublin Web Summit, or leisure travelers with our partners, friends, family, seek a different experience when we visit a city, for the first time or as a repeat visitor. That s why we, at the Tourist in Paris, want to make visiting a city a more local and personal experience, providing you with insights and tips to make you spend your time in similar fashion to the locals, and making sure that your time on the ground matches your desires. Locals share insights between themselves all the time. It is time to share this deep knowledge of the town with the world. The Tourist in Paris is your best friend who moved a few years ago and is now welcoming you in his new town, knowing exactly what you want to do, see, where to eat and hang out. Here s a sneak peak of what we want to do, in this special edition of «The Tourist in Dublin». Do you consider yourself a healthy person, or someone who follows trends - maybe both? - but definitely not a party person? You still want to enjoy a nice pint in a pub, though? And the recommendations are not the same for the English and the French pages - of course not. You are not looking at a platform telling you what to do. 4 Be trendy in Dublin Network in two trendy restaurants next to Google headquarters This week in Dublin is about meeting people from all over the world and network with them to make your company look more appealing. Better to do it while eating. If you consider yourself to be a trendy entrepreneur, head to The Bath Bar on Bath Avenue. A meeting point for a multicultural crowd as it is located 500 meters away from the Google and Facebook headquarters. Right accross the street is Farmer Browns, another restaurant known for its stylish clientele who come to enjoy its breakfasts, lunches and dinners. Network at anytime of the day. Where? Head to Metro café (43 South William), the Parisian look-a-like coffee and then have a look at what the Loft Market has to offer if you want to bring back home a fancy vintage piece of clothing. 5 Chill in Dublin The cocktail bar for a business date: "Vintage Cocktail Club" Here in the heart of the city, in a chic vintage surrounding, you ll find more kinds of cocktails than anywhere else. A great intimate place for an after work catch-up. A rather quiet piece, kind of a mysterious and relaxed atmosphere. A secrative bar for important network meetings. Upstairs from delicious French restaurant L Gueuleton. Where? 3 Fade Street, Dublin 2 P L Chadwick The chill parks and strolls If the weather let you hang outside, local Dubliners like to take a walk at the Phoenix Park, on the West side of the city. Also, head North to the Royal Canal, for a silent (biking) retreat away from the crowds for your chilliest stroll of the week. For a more classic but still beautiful walk, visit the Trinity college campus; it s a must-see. Finally, head South to Herbert Park for a magical countryside escape. The biggest celebrities and stars such as U2 singer Bono have partied there. So it s your best shot at meeting one of them this week on the dance-floor or at the bar. Keep your eyes wide-open! Where? Here at Iveagh Fitness Club, close to Saint Patrick s Cathedral and Dublin Castle, for a 15 -day pass or a reduced rate of 12 depending on the hotel you re a guest at, you can join this gym and get your workout done after or before a busy day at the Web Summit. Venez manger sain au Brother Hubbard, au 153 Capel Street, le café minimaliste aux salades, soupes, sandwiches ou sucreries avec un café fait maison (sans-gluten pour les intéressés). Pour un thé bio et des gâteaux sans gluten aussi, foncez plus au sud de la ville chez Wall and Keogh, recommandé par le patron du Brother Hubbard lui même. Dernière alternative dans la même tendance, arrêtez-vous chez Wooden Mills. Où? 9 Au calme À Dublin Culturel À Dublin Le pub loin de la foule : "Le Brazen Head" Le pub un poil à l écart du centre qui vous permettra d apprécier une pinte locale sans être au cœur d un brouhaha. Parfait pour un rendez-vous pro à l heure de la bière (il n y a pas vraiment d heure). Non loin de Leo Burdock et de Dublin Castle. Dublin à le système public de vélo le plus réussi avec vélos dans cent stations en ville. 1,50 euro les deux heures pour une petite balade du côté du Grand Canal, du Royal Canal et de Trinity College. L institut du film irlandais La tradition Le Irish Film Institute est situé dans Temple Bar en plein centre-ville. Venez voir un vieux film irlandais indépendant et vous poser au bar (ou dîner) pour discuter dans ce qui est considéré comme un haut lieu de l héritage irlandais. À l architecture impressionnante, cette visite vous marquera et vous étonnera. Elle renferme l histoire de l indépendance des Irlandais. À faire et à raconter en rentrant! Où? En pleine rue, se trouve un haut lieu touristique de Dublin : la statue de Molly Malone, une vendeuse de poisson plantureuse mais fictive. Alexandre, Diane & Bertrand Why do visitors need The Tourist in Paris? Studies on foreign visitors conclude (or suggest) that they need better-targeted information to help them sort through a well-intentioned but misinformed tips, and a potentially life changing experiences. The Tourist in Paris is a digital and print platform dedicated to providing the best insights, tips, pieces of advice and recommendations from locals. We produce continent that matches the visitors origins, hobbies, and moods during their stay (partying, romance, artsy, foodie, etc...) or their circumstance while travelling (with their lover, their friends, their family and kids etc.). The Tourist in Paris is like an old friend who moved to Paris and is now writing to you with all of his experiences just as you embark on your journey.
