2 1. Preface This document describes the contingency plan of the Technical Faculty - Institute of sensors, signals and Electrotechnics. This contingency plan is part of the overall contingency plan at the Faculty of Engineering, which includes the Institute of Industry and Construction, Institute of Chemistry, Biotechnology and Environmental Technology, Institute of Sensors, Signals and Electrical Engineering, the administration of the Faculty of Engineering and the Maersk Mc-Kinney Møller institute (the Maersk Mc-Kinney Moeller institute at Campusvej has a contingency plan separate from the contingency plan for the ).
3 INSTRUCTIONS IN CASE OF FIRE Alarm Fight the fire Rescue Evacuation Assembly point Restrict Fire Brigade Call the emergency dispatch centre. Dial Tell that there is a fire and - who you are, - Where you are calling from: Syddansk Universitet, Det Tekniske Fakultet Sense instituttet Niels Bohrs Allé Odense M, Blok E - the number you are calling from - what happened - whether there are casualties or people in danger. Attempt extinguishing the fire by means of using the nearest available fire equipment. Do not expose yourself to danger. Get people away from the danger zone. Do not expose yourself to danger. Evacuate staff and students to assembly point, which is in front of Block E. Parking place, Block E Close all windows and doors but do not lock them. Meet the fire brigade at the entrance of the institution, and if necessary, show them the way to the fire. Give relevant information to the rescue team. Tell your nearest manager, your Working Environment group and the building office, phone no Tell what happened, - where it burns, - if there are people injured or in danger, - and that the fire brigade has been alarmed.

Announce - loud and clear that you are the person responsible at the assembly point. Tasks rescue team about the further procedure. Meet the fire brigade. The fire brigade will automatically drive to fire centre, if the alarm comes from the automatic fire alarm system. Tell the rescue manager what you know about the situation, and whether there are missing persons inside the building.
5 FIRE FIGHTING When it burns you must Rescue people Alarm the fire brigade: dial: 112 Fight the fire. Fire fighting equipment Fire blankets Carbon dioxide extinguishers Water Categories of fires Class A Fire in solid organic materials such as wood, paper, textiles, etc. Fires are best put out with WATER distributed over the embers, not into the flames. Class B Fire in liquids or solid materials which can become liquid, such as petrol, spirits, alcohol, paint, plastic, etc. use CARBON DIOXIDE snow or FIRE BLANKETS. Class C Fire in gases. Most easily put out by shutting off the gas. If this is not possible, fire can be put out by means of CARBON DIOXIDE snow. Class E Fire in electrical installations. Put out the fire by means of CARBON DIOXIDE snow. If possible, turn off power first. People on fire The best way to put out fire is by using WATER. If the fire cannot be extinguished by water, cover the person with a FIRE BLANKET.
6 INSTRUCTIONS TO ELECTRIC POWER ACCIDENTS First aid at low voltage Stop the accident by disconnecting the current. (Remember: Do not touch the person until the power has been disconnected). Rescue Alarm Rescue First aid at high voltage In case of burns, cool the burned area with water. Call the emergency dispatch centre. Keep a distance of at least 20 meters Alarm Call the emergency dispatch centre. In case of danger to personnel/students, evacuate to assembly point. Parking place, Block E Call the emergency dispatch centre. Tell what happened, - how much is wasted, - and substance, - where, - whether there are injuries or people in danger, - and the fire brigade has been alarmed. Iniciate oil- and chemical fighting by means of absorbing materials but only if it is safe! Find information about the hazardousness and characteristics of the substance; see safety data sheet.
8 INSTRUCTIONS IN CASE OF INJURIES Stop the accident Rescue Stop machines and work processes. Seal off the area, if possible Perform life-saving first aid. - Ensure breathing a. ensure free airways b. give artificial respiration - Ensure the blood circulation a. stop bleeding b. start immediate cardiac massage Alarm Rescue Accidents with chemical substances Call the emergency dispatch centre. Dial Tell that you need an ambulance, and; - who you are, - where you are calling from; Syddansk Universitet, Det Tekniske Fakultet SENSE instituttet, Niels Bohrs Allé Odense M Blok E - the number you are calling from, - what has happened, - the number of casualties. Perform basic first aid. - continue life-saving first aid. - provide blankets and other items useable for shielding off climate conditions (outdoor). - get bandages and cover wounds and injuries. - give psychological first aid Try to calm down the injured person (-s). Treatment see safety data sheets. These can be found in Kiros database + working place user instructions. On skin or in eyes rinse with water Ingestion or inhalation - seek medical treatment or emergency room.
9 INSTRUCTIONS IN CASE OF BOMB THREATS By bomb threats Talk calmly to the persons threatening. Ask when the bomb will explode? Ask where the bomb is placed? Ask about his motive. Why? Ask whether there is a larger organization behind? (Try to procrastinate - ask again). Contact Alarm Contact the nearest colleague, who must contact the nearest leader and the working environment group. Get others to alert the police. Is there people present at the institution, who might be of interest regarding the threat? Evacuation should take place in consultation with the police. Assembly Point should be external. If necessary, critical incident stress debriefing should be offered.

Secure things of value by means of tarpaulins or the like.
