4 Requirements on prmeters for energy retention nd therml insultion The specifictions for the photometric nd energetic prmeters re vlid for specific uild-up IGU mentioned in the currently vlid test certificte. The prmeters of the photometric nd energetic properties of the coted single pne listed in Tle, which re necessry for energy retention nd therml insultion, re determined y clcultion nd/or mesurement ccording to DIN EN 40. The emissivity rting is determined ccording to DIN EN The requirements specified in Tle re pplicle. Tolernces for the coted single pne re given in Tle. Especilly when 2 coted single glss pnes re used in triple insulting glss units (TGU), tolernces for the photometric nd energetic prmeters of the TGU cn e incresed due to error propgtion. Colorimetric ssessment of coted glss. How to quntify colour The colour ppernce of surfce is influenced y three fctors: - the colour of the light source - the senstion of colour of n individul oserver (humn eye) - the colour of surfce The mesurement of the reflected light spectrum is suitle sis for the colorimetric mesurement of coted glss to ssess the exterior ppernce of fcde nd the trnsmitted spectrum to ssess the view through the glss. Explicit vlues cn e determined from the spectr to descrie the colour (stndrd light source D6, 2 or 0 stndrd oserver). In the CIELAB colour spce, the L vlue designtes the rightness, designtes the red nd green proportions nd the yellow nd lue proportions. The colour nd rightness cn therey e explicitly descried y point Index m: indictes tht the specified vlue is vlue determined y mesurement or clcultion Index d: indictes tht the specified vlue is fixed vlue File: Technicl Specifiction for rcon Cotings.doc Pge 3 of 2

Using the indices P (smple ) nd P2 (smple 2), for the colours to e compred, the following pplies: L () (2) (3) L P L P2 P P2 P P2 The colour difference E is clculted using the following formul: E ( L ) (4).2 How to mesure colour The prmeters L, nd cn e mesured y spectrophotometers used in the fctory ut lso y using colorimeters which cn e hndheld instruments nd of smll size, directly usele on site. These instruments hve the sme response to colour s the humn eye. Since the colour mesurement re referenced to the stndrd light source D6 nd the 2 stndrd oserver precise results independent of externl fctors like dy time, environment, ckground, etc. cn e derived..3 Colour inconsistencies in the fçde.3. Colour inconsistencies in reflection within one glss pne (e.g. Bnds or stins) Colour inconsistencies in reflection within the sme glss pne cn e mesured with portle colorimeter y mesuring the colorimetric prmeters L, nd in minimum points in every zone in question 2 (see exmple on fig.) zone zone 2 Point Point 2 Point, 2 Point 3 Point 3 Point 4 Point Point 4, Fig.: Colour inconsistencies within the sme glss pne 2 Remrk: In order to void mesurement errors due to edge effects the mesurement must not e mde in zone of 20 cm long the edges. The production tolernces re mintined to ensure tht homogeneous colour ppernce of the uildings fçde s specified in tle 2 is ccomplished. File: Technicl Specifiction for rcon Cotings.doc Pge 7 of 2
. Angle dependence of rchitecturl cotings The colour ppernce of low-e nd solr control cotings especilly with high selectivity chnges with ngle of view. These vritions cn only e mesured in lortory on smll smple. Currently there is no on site instrument on the mrket. Consequently the homogeneity of the colour of the fçde viewed under n ngle cn only e evluted y visul oservtion. The mximum ngle must not exceed 4 (see fig.4) Norml incidence Fig.4: Visul oservtion of ngle dependence File: Technicl Specifiction for rcon Cotings.doc Pge 8 of 2
.6 Generlly remrks on colour ssessment For the ssessment of the reflected colour (outside view of the fçde) solr control products (sunelt) must e plced on surfce #2 nd low-e products on surfce #3 in the IGU. The fçde is viewed norml the surfce. Differences of colour s viewed from the interior of the uilding re not considered s defect. In trnsmission colour differences my lso e oserved. These differences cnnot e mesured on site s no device is ville. This colour cn only e evluted y visul oservtion. The trnsmission s well s reflection colour is influenced not only y the coting ut lso y the glss type, glss thickness nd the uncoted pne in the IGU. One must relize tht the notion of colour is linked to the impression nd perception of the individul, the sensiility of the eye eing very personl chrcteristic. Furthermore, vriety of conditions ffect how colour looks, for instnce when oserving the fçde of uilding from the outside, Luminosity: drk covered sky nd very cloudy might revel colour differences, invisile under direct sunlight. Distnce nd ngle of oservtion. Type nd colour of mullions nd trnsoms. Distnce etween two djcent glss pnes. The eye of the oserver. Bckground: the sence of ny lighting in the uilding (drk ckground), might increse the perception of colour differences. Environment: presence or sence of other uildings which re likely to reflect in the fçde Thermlly toughened sfety glss demonstrte so-clled nisotropy effects in the form of stripes or circles of grey or coloured reflexes. The visiility of the nisotropies in het treted glss depends on the wether nd the ttitude of the sun, the type nd thickness of the glss nd the viewing ngle nd cn e further reinforced nd chnged in colour if the glss is coted. Anisotropy effects re inherent to the mnufcturing process. They re not regrded s cuse for complint. Het strengthened sfety glss with no opque silk-screen print (depended on the individul design) cnnot e colour mesured relile. File: Technicl Specifiction for rcon Cotings.doc Pge 9 of 2
6 Requirements on the mechnicl properties There is no generlly cknowledged stndrd for tests on the scrtch resistnce of coted glss. rcon monitors oth the scrtch resistnce nd the delmintion resistnce during production y n internl compny test method. The ssessment of the dhesion strength on site is conducted ccording to DIN 896-6, using commonly ville, trnsprent dhesive tpe type Tes 7370 from Beiersdorf. The lods on the tested smples re exerted ccording to resolution K s specified in Section 4 of the ove stndrd. In cse of clims rcon reserves the right to verify the mechnicl properties with these internl procedures in order to evlute the clim closing. 11 7 Defect ssessment of coted glss 7. Assessment of stock sizes nd cut sizes of coted glss respectively The ssessment of coted glss is conducted on the sis of DIN EN The cceptnce criteri for defects s descried in Section 7.4 of this stndrd re contined in Tle 3. T. 3: Acceptnce criteri for defects in coted glss ccording to DIN EN 096- Acceptnce criteri Fult type Pne to pne Individul pne Centrl re Edge zone Dot-shped defects: Not pplicle Stins/needlepoint defects; > 3 mm Not permitted Not permitted >2 mm nd 3 mm Permitted when not more thn /m² Permitted when not more thn /m² Nesting; Not permitted Permitted when in the viewing zone Scrtches: > 7 mm Not permitted Permitted when they re more thn 0 mm from ech other 7 mm Permitted when the locl density is not visully distrcting Permitted when the locl density is not visully distrcting File: Technicl Specifiction for rcon Cotings.doc Pge of 2
7.2 Assessment of insulting glss units (IGU) The ssessment of insulting glss units ssemled with coted glss is conducted within the principles of the Guidelines for the ssessment of the visul qulity of glss in uilding 4, excerpts of which re contined in Tle 4. This guideline is n cknowledged nd ccepted principle for the ssessment of defects in IGU.
