1 PRIME For Life 2-Day Continuing Education Conference DDS Annual Update This session is designed to provide attendees with an update on recent or upcoming DDS events. Verbalize and define at least one DDS update that directly impacts the attendee. Describe the role DDS plays with respect to the Risk Reduction Program in Georgia. Identify at least one recent or upcoming legislative change that will affect DDS operations. DDS: Staying in Compliance This session is designed to provide attendees with an overview of compliance related topics and information in order to maintain compliance with DDS Rules and Regulations. Verbalize and identify key rules and regulations that foster an atmosphere of compliance. Discuss methods for enforcement of DDS Rules and Regulations. Describe and explain how to utilize the Regulatory Compliance staff support system. DBH: Clinical Evaluation and Treatment This session will review clinical evaluation and treatment for DUI offenders. Identify laws, rules, and procedures for evaluation and treatment. ADE: An increased understanding of the role of the NEEDS Assessment in the Risk Reduction Process This session is designed to increase the participant s understanding of the administration and interpretation of ADE Incorporated s NEEDS Assessment, the role of the assessment report in the PFL curriculum, and the importance of gathering aggregate data from all NEEDS Assessments completed through the Risk Reduction Schools. Verbalize and define proper administration of the NEEDS Assessment.
2 Describe the usefulness of the aggregate data collected as part of the survey process and how this can influence programming. Describe proper use of the NEEDS Assessment Report in the PRIME For Life Curriculum. Identify and describe the proper method of interpreting the NEEDS Assessment Report using the scores and norms provided as well as how to best present this to the student within the classroom setting. Identify and describe proper use of the NEEDS Assessment software, including Reporting and Ordering procedures. Hardball with PRIME For Life This session is designed to share research and strategies to effectively manage active client dissent in PFL groups. Recognize and describe normal responses to the change process and how these are encoded in client statements. Identify common hardball questions and comments. Interpret and verbalize messages underneath the common questions. Demonstrate effective skills and strategies (defusing dissent) for managing such queries. Coaching Outside the Box What do horse gentling and border collies have to do with PRIME For Life delivery? We will find out together in this out of the box session! The goal of this session is to provide an overview and practice time with essential Moving ForWarD elements. Identify three Moving ForWarD process domains. Demonstrate effective use of three different methods for providing feedback. Share and discuss ratings for PRIME For Life delivery with a small group. mydashboard What's a widget? Where is my Online Manual? Learn these answers and more in this interactive tour of the updated PRI website! This session is designed to aid in program preparation and further skill development to support your PRIME Delivery. Participants will explore the new PRI website to examine the new features and learn how to log in and personalize their dashboard. Identify and list resources crucial for skill development. Successfully customize the dashboard to tailor it to individual needs.
3 Building our Tools for Success: Part One Gain experience with forming simple and deep reflections through practice and coaching. This session is designed to share research on basic effective communication techniques in order to increase learner knowledge and recognition of change talk. Describe the conditions needed for PRIME participants growth and change. Generate and verbalize effective simple and deep reflections. Identify and describe (through effectively paying attention to) language that indicates PRIME participants are thinking about change. Building our Tools for Success: Part Two Strengthen your use of the tools you already have to become an even better instructor and practitioner. This interactive plenary session is designed to practice the use of reflections and identification of change talk. Develop and demonstrate greater facility using complex reflections. Use and deliver reflections in a directional manner with enhanced ability. Differentiate between sustain and change talk. Develop and share summaries. Building our Tools for Success: Part Three Want to build change talk and reduce sustain talk in your PFL groups? Come join us! This session will highlight how conversational paths are formed and how instructor statements influence the direction and outcomes in groups. Observe and describe how instructor statements influence client statements. Complete a proper branching script. Building A Better Intervention PRIME For Life V9-Exploring Presenters will highlight and demonstrate new activities, research, and changes in conceptual flow in the Exploring Identify three major structural changes and consistencies in Exploring. Building A Better Intervention PRIME For Life V9-Reflecting
4 Presenters will highlight and demonstrate new activities, research and changes in conceptual flow in the Reflecting Identify three major structural changes and consistencies in Reflecting. Building A Better Intervention PRIME For Life V9-Protecting Presenters will highlight and demonstrate new activities, research and changes in conceptual flow in the Protecting Identify three major structural changes and consistencies in Protecting. DSM-5 and PFL-9 Phases: What Changes, What Doesn't, and Why Does it Matter? More than words are changing as DSM-5 inches closer to what the PFL Phases have been saying for some time. Yet, a few changes are coming in the Phases with version 9 as well. What does it all mean and why does it matter? To describe some of the changes coming in both DSM-5 and the PFL v9 Phases and to explore the benefits and challenges of those changes as our field struggles to align old truths with new research insights. Describe how DSM-5 and the PFL Phases are changing. Describe how those changes can help you in working with your clients. Identify at least two challenges the changes bring to our field. P.S.S. (PRIME Solutions Support)! The goal of this session is to provide learners with support so they can deliver PRIME Solutions with greater confidence. Identify and describe the purpose of the three session topic libraries. Successfully navigate through the PRIME Solutions DVD disc. Facilitate a session topic with confidence. NEED Coaching?
5 PRIME instructors will experience a PRIME For Life (PFL) delivery of the NEEDS Assessment from Disc 2 demonstrated by a PRI Trainer or Master Instructor. Discuss how to implement and facilitate the NEEDS Assessment after observing a PRI Trainer or PFL Master Instructor model the content from Disc 2. Deliver portions of the NEEDS Assessment in a small group while receiving coaching and feedback. Interpret the NEEDS Assessment by discussing the process with session facilitators. Georgia Master Instructor Session Learn more about the GA Master Instructor program from Melanie Snyder, PRI s Assistant Director of Training and Development. Identify personal strategies to improve content and process delivery of PRIME For Life. Building A Better Intervention: For Life V9 Presenters will highlight continuity from the current version of PRIME For Life (Version 8) and offer tips for instructors transitioning to Version 9. The first tip -Take a deep breath, it will all work out. Learners will have an opportunity to ask questions in an open chat forum. Identify three major structural changes and consistencies from Version 8 to Version 9. List three ways Version 9 addresses drugs more accurately. Describe and prepare to employ five steps to achieve success with the transition. Love All, Serve All The goal of this session is to provide a sense of comfort with feeling connected to a larger purpose. This session is designed to inspire a renewed sense of commitment to serve our PFL participants and motivate instructors for the transition to Version 9. Identify and list two sources of motivation which inspire you to learn Version 9.
