3 The Technical Stuff - Watered Down The "K" rating on a bulb refers to the "COLOUR" temperature of the bulb, Most of our lighting equipment falls within the range in the table below. Colour (K) Description Warm White 2700K White that is slightly Yellow/Orange White 3500K A neutral shade of white, not as yellow as warm white and not as pure white as Daylight. Cool White 4200K A shade of white that may seems a little bit blueish at times. Day Light 6000K Strong White colour, this is what customers refer to when they say "Proper White Light". Jargon Buster Lumens A measurement of the total amount of light ouput from a source (like the amount of light coming out from a bulb), this is not the same as brightness strength. Lux This is the measure of Lumens per area. 1 Lux = 1 Lumen per Square Metre, 20 Lux = 20 Lumen per Square Metre, etc Candela Formerly known as Candle power, this is the power emitted by a light source in a given direction, 1 Candela = 1 Standard Candle. The Strength of a light beam. So which one is Important? Lumens or Candela? And which one do I use? Candela and Lumens measure 2 different attributes of light, they cannot be directly converted from one to another. Generally if you are looking at in terms of electricity, energy efficiency, or lighting a large area, then you look at the lumens rating. When you are looking items such a torches and spotlights, you look at the candela rating, because you want to know the power of the light, the strength of the light beam, as the candela rating directly correlates to how much the distance the light can travel from the source.. I still don't get it :( In short: Use Lumens - When looking at the amount of light from a source, when lighting an area and when considering energy usage and cutting costs. Use Candelas - When looking at lights that are beamed out, torches, lanterns etc, light that needs to be strongly projected outwards. Not necessarily covering large areas.

These push and twist into place. MR16 bulbs have 2 thin pin type fitting. These are push-in bulbs. MR11 bulbs are a smaller version of the MR16 bulb. (As Above) G4 bulbs are a small capsule bulb, they have a 2 pointed pin connection. G9 bulbs are larger than a G4 and have 2 loop type connectors.

These are more energy saving then halogen type bulbs. In most cases the higher the wattage on the bulb, the bigger or longer the bulb will be. Bulbs sizes and fitting tend to be standard and can be used on any regular fitting. In some cases the base of the energy saving bulbs can be a little bit too thick to fit into some chandeliers or fancy light fittings.

The higher the wattage the larger the bulb.. MICRO SPIRAL bulbs have a slghtly smaller /thinner spiral shape. This will restrict the maximum voltage it can be made in. 3U CFL Bulbs are Energy Saving bulbs with 3 straight tubes that loop back to the base.. These are not spiral shaped.
