Seizures: Sme peple (abut 1 in 4000) may have severe dizziness, seizures, epileptic seizures r blackuts triggered by light flashes r patterns, and this may ccur while they are watching TV, playing vide games r experiencing virtual reality, even if they have never had a seizure r blackut befre r have n histry f seizures r epilepsy. Children: The Gear VR shuld nt be used by children under the age f 13, as yung children are in a critical perid in visual develpment. Adults shuld mnitr children (age 13 and lder) wh are using r have used the Gear VR fr any f the symptms described belw, and shuld limit the time children spend using the Gear VR and ensure they take breaks during use. Prlnged use shuld be avided, as this culd negatively impact hand-eye crdinatin, balance, and multi-tasking ability. Adults shuld mnitr children clsely during and after use f the Gear VR fr any decrease in these abilities. General Precautins: T reduce the risk f injury r discmfrt yu shuld always fllw these instructins and bserve these precautins while using the Gear VR: Use Only In A Safe Envirnment: The Gear VR prduces an immersive virtual reality experience that distracts yu frm and cmpletely blcks yur view f yur actual surrundings. Always be aware f yur surrundings befre beginning use and while using the Gear VR. Use cautin t avid injury. Use f the Gear VR may cause lss f balance. Remember that the bjects yu see in the virtual envirnment d nt exist in the real envirnment, s dn t sit r stand n them r use them fr supprt. Fr the safest experience, remain seated r statinary when using the Gear VR. Serius injuries can ccur frm tripping, running int r striking walls, furniture r ther bjects, s clear an area fr safe use befre using the Gear VR. Take special care t ensure that yu are nt near ther peple, 2

3 bjects, stairs, balcnies, pen drways, windws, furniture, pen flames, ceiling fans r light fixtures r ther items that yu can bump int r knck dwn when using r immediately after using the Gear VR. Remve any tripping hazards frm the area befre using the Gear VR. Remember that while using the Gear VR yu may be unaware that peple and pets may enter yur immediate area. D nt handle sharp r therwise dangerus bjects while using the Gear VR. Never wear the Gear VR in situatins that require attentin, such as walking, bicycling, r driving. Make sure the Gear VR is level and secured cmfrtably n yur head, and that yu see a single, clear image. Ease int the use f the Gear VR t allw yur bdy t adjust; use fr nly a few minutes at a time at first, and nly increase the amunt f time using the Gear VR gradually as yu grw accustmed t virtual reality. Lking arund and using the input device when first entering virtual reality can help yu adjust t any small differences between yur real-wrld mvements and the resulting virtual reality experience. D nt use the Gear VR while in a mving vehicle such as a car, bus, r train, as this can increase yur susceptibility t adverse symptms. Take at least a 10 t 15 minute break every 30 minutes, even if yu dn t think yu need it. Each persn is different, s take mre frequent and lnger breaks if yu feel discmfrt. Yu shuld decide what wrks best fr yu. The Gear VR may be equipped with a pass-thrugh feature which permits yu t temprarily see yur surrundings fr brief real wrld interactin. Yu shuld always remve the Gear VR fr any situatin that requires attentin r crdinatin. 3

4 Listening t sund at high vlumes can cause irreparable damage t yur hearing. Backgrund nise, as well as cntinued expsure t high vlume levels, can make sunds seem quieter than they actually are. Due t the immersive nature f the virtual reality experience, d nt use the Gear VR with the sund at a high vlume s that yu can maintain awareness f yur surrundings and reduce the risk f hearing damage. Discmfrt Immediately discntinue use if anyne using the Gear VR experiences any f the fllwing symptms: seizures; lss f awareness; eye strain; eye r muscle twitching; invluntary mvements; altered, blurred, r duble visin r ther visual abnrmalities; dizziness; disrientatin; impaired balance; impaired hand-eye crdinatin; excessive sweating; increased salivatin; nausea; lightheadedness; discmfrt r pain in the head r eyes; drwsiness; fatigue; r any symptms similar t mtin sickness. Just as with the symptms peple can experience after they disembark a cruise ship, symptms f virtual reality expsure can persist and becme mre apparent hurs after use. These pstuse symptms can include the symptms abve, as well as excessive drwsiness and decreased ability t multi-task. These symptms may put yu at an increased risk f injury when engaging in nrmal activities in the real wrld. D nt drive, perate machinery, r engage in ther visually r physically demanding activities that have ptentially serius cnsequences (i.e., activities in which experiencing any symptms culd lead t death, persnal injury, r damage t prperty), r ther activities that require unimpaired balance and hand-eye crdinatin (such as playing sprts r riding a bicycle, etc.) until yu have fully recvered frm any symptms. D nt use the Gear VR until all symptms have cmpletely subsided fr several hurs. Make sure yu have prperly cnfigured the Gear VR 4

5 befre resuming use. Be mindful f the type f cntent that yu were using prir t the nset f any symptms because yu may be mre prne t symptms based upn the cntent being used. See a dctr if yu have serius and/r persistent symptms. Repetitive Stress Injury: Using the Gear VR can make yur muscles, jints r skin hurt. If any part f yur bdy becmes tired r sre while using the Gear VR, r if yu feel symptms such as tingling, numbness, burning r stiffness, stp and rest fr several hurs befre using the Gear VR again. If yu cntinue t have any f the abve symptms r ther discmfrt during r after play, stp using the Gear VR and see a dctr. Interference with Medical Devices: The Gear VR includes earphnes that cntain magnets and can emit radi waves. These can affect the peratin f nearby electrnics, including cardiac pacemakers hearing aids and defibrillatrs. If yu have a pacemaker r ther implanted medical device, d nt use the Gear VR withut first cnsulting yur dctr r the manufacturer f yur medical device. Maintain a safe distance between the Gear VR and yur medical devices, and stp using the Gear VR if yu bserve a persistent interference with yur medical device. Cntrller: Yur Gear VR may have cme with a third-party cntrller. Cnsult the manufacturer fr health and safety warnings fr the cntrller. Always use included wrist straps with cntrllers t secure the cntrller t yur wrist when in use. Electrical Shck: T reduce risk f electric shck: D nt mdify r pen any f the cmpnents prvided. D nt use the prduct if any cable is damaged r any wires are 5

6 expsed. If a pwer adapter is prvided: D nt expse the pwer adapter t liquid r misture. Unplug the pwer adapter befre cleaning, and clean nly with a dry clth. Keep the pwer adapter away frm pen flames and ther heat surces. Use nly the pwer adapter prvided with the Gear VR. Damaged r Brken Device: D nt use yur device if any part is brken r damaged. D nt attempt t repair any part f yur device yurself. Repairs shuld nly be made by an authrized servicer. Cntagius Cnditins: T avid transferring cntagius cnditins (like pink eye), d nt share the Gear VR with persns with cntagius cnditins, infectins r diseases, particularly f the eyes, skin r scalp. The Gear VR shuld be cleaned between each use with skinfriendly antibacterial wipes (particularly the lenses) and dried with a micrfiber clth. Skin Irritatin: The Gear VR is wrn next t yur skin and scalp. Stp using the Gear VR if yu ntice swelling, itchiness, r ther irritatin. If symptms persist, cntact a dctr. T avid damage t the Gear VR: D nt leave the Gear VR in direct sunlight. Expsure t direct sunlight can damage the Gear VR. D nt shine a laser r external light surce thrugh the lenses as it may damage the screen. Stre cmpnents in their strage case when nt in use t minimize unintentinal damage r envirnmental expsure
