2 1. General Descriptions: 1.1 What can you do with the FleetLink device? WiFi to Play via DLNA technology. You can freely wireless share pics, moives, videos, etc media files in your smart devices like: mobile phone, *pad, laptop, PC, smart camera on to a TV or monitor screen, enjoy the bigger screen and better sound performance without cable tangling you around. 3 Use smart device A as a controller, render media files stored in the device B to device C (TV set with Fleetlink device). Or vise verse, use smart device B as a controller, render media files stored in the device A to device C (TV set with Fleetlink device) If a website DLNA application support DLNA rendering function, you can play medias from Internet onto your TV or monitor screen with installed apps. 4 1.2 What technologies are involved while using a FleetLink device? b/g/n 2.4GHz WiFi: The FleetLink can be set as a WLAN AP or a WLAN client device through your smart device. Webpage Browser: a webpage browser installed in your smart phone, laptop,*pad DLNA Application: a media player installed which supports DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) media sharing like: Media player 11, imediashare, Allshare, etc HDMI interface: a TV set or monitor support HDMI signal input. Tips about DLNA and its apps: The Fleetlink device supports open source DLNA software, many different kinds of software supported. The software might come with your device when you bought it, or you can download them (such as: imediashare, yxplayer2, Buzz_Player, Media Link Player ) from Internet application store easily. The Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) was started in 2003 when several manufacturers got together to create a standard which enables the consumers to share digital media between various personal devices in a home network. This meant that the products were compatible even if they were made by different manufacturers. With DLNA compatibility, consumers can connect their products together and be able to save, share, stream and show digital media. Images, music and video stored on one DLNA device -- a computer, network attached storage (NAS) drive or media server--will play on other DLNA devices -- TVs, AV receivers, and other computers on the network. DLNA is often called something else, here are the most common names: DLNA AllShare (Samsung) SmartShare (LG) Simple Share (Philips) AirPlay (Apple s version that is not really DLNA since it is a push-solution rather than a pull-solution) 1.3 What else outfits shall be ready while using the Fleetlink Device? TV set: which comes with a spare functional HDMI input port. Power supply: A spare standard type A USB port with 500mA, 5V capacity on your TV set. or use an optional external USB power adapter. Smart device: Smart mobile Phone, *Pad, laptop or PC or latest camera supports WiFi connection. A DLNA sharing (rendering) apps: an application installed on your smart device, nowadays, it normally comes with your device as default application software. Page 4 of 7

5 Wireless AP/router: To share Internet media files, the WLAN AP/router is necessary. For Android system, you can download a DLNA software easily from Application store over Internet. For *pad, *touch,*phone, we recommend using the imediashare software. For Win system, the latest version media player11 supports the DLNA function. 2. Connection. 2.1 Hardware connection: 1) Plug to connect: Plug the power line into the micro B USB socket of FleetLink device, plug the FleetLink to a spare HDMI port of the TV set, then plug the USB end of the power line into a spare USB socket of the TV set or monitor, or plug into other 5V USB adapter with 500mA current capacity. FleetLink Power Line (USB type) 2) Turn on TV and select input source: Turn on the TV set, then switch the TV input source to the corresponding HDMI input port connected with the Fleetlink device. You can do it with the TV remote controller or buttons on the TV set. 3) FleetLind status: The LED of FleetLink device should be lighted on, the blue light shows system is powered up; the green light indicates internal WiFi is activated. 4) Interface on TV: Then FleetLink's start screen should be shown on the TV screen. 6 2.2 Wireless Connection: Wireless mode: To Use the FleetLink device, you should know the FleetLink can be configured to two different wireless connection modes via a Webpage browser: a. AP mode: The Fleetlink services as a wireless AP/router, so that other smart devices can be connected to it via wireless connection. When set to AP mode, the TV or monitor screen shows the information like the right picture. Tips : To share DLNA media files, other smart devices has to be connected to this AP. The data will be sent to the AP then transferred to Fleetlink. Each FleetLink device gets a different random network name. Notes: When the FleetLink device is initially powered up, the default setting is the AP mode. b. Client Mode: The Fleetlink device can be set to this client mode, so that it can be connected to a preferred wireless AP/router. Should the AP/router be connected to Internet over Ethernet connection, the media content over Internet can be rendered to the TV or monitor with website DLNA apps supported. When set to client mode, the TV or monitor screen shows the information like the following picture. Tips: When FleetLink in Client mode can t find an existent (login before) WiFi AP/router for a while, it will be switched to AP mode automatically. Page 6 of 7

7 Limitations DLNA is supported by most electronics manufacturers but it is not hassle-free. Here are some of the typical problems that you might encounter: Codecs: There is a long list of different video codecs, including avi, mpeg2, mpeg4, wmv, DivX, etc. Not all codecs are supported and it varies from one TV to another. Freezing: A wireless network connection can cause your DLNA connection to freeze at times. So if you encounter freezing issues, try to restart it or power the AP/router off and on. HD support: Movies in 1080p can be a mouthful in some systems and on some devices. Fragmented: Open standards are great but also fragmented. Because DLNA is open manufacturers use different names, different implementations and support different codecs. It is a mess at times so try to find the DLNA server software best suited for your application.
