1 Gary Keeler, Principal Lockwood Road, Bothell, WA Lynn Zenk, Office Manager Office Sonja Gill-More, Secretary FAX Web: lockwood.nsd.org 24-Hour Attendance/Safe Arrival Hotline: Please call before 10:00am April 1, 2015 LOCKWOOD PRIDE LOCKWOOD S 2015/2016 REGISTRATION SEASON IS IN FULL SWING If you know of families in the Lockwood service area who plan to attend Lockwood next year, please help us get the word out that registration for grades K through 6 th is underway. It is time to register and they may call for details. Registering now will help us with our planning for the next school year. Children must be 5 years old by August 31, 2015 in order to register for Kindergarten. STUDENT PLACEMENTS FOR NEXT SCHOOL YEAR As we approach the last few months of school, we are about to begin the process of placing students for the 2015/2016 school year. Our staff and principal work closely to form tentative class groupings for the following school year. As we form the groups, teachers take numerous factors into consideration including: boy/girl ratios, academic performance/needs, social mix/compatibility, behavior patterns, learning styles, special needs, total number of students per class and parent input. After the tentative class lists are made, teachers, specialists, and the principal review the lists to balance academic and social dynamics. Pertinent parental information is also considered if there is something exceptional we are not already aware of about a student. A balance within grade-level groups is critical in ensuring the best learning environment for all students. Throughout the summer, many students will enroll and others may move. We invariably make many final adjustments in August. At that time, teachers are assigned to the class lists and class placement will be mailed late in August. We respectfully ask that you do not approach teachers or other staff members with requests for next year. Specific teacher requests will not be considered. Every Lockwood teacher and staff member is dedicated to high academic standards and meeting the learning and social needs of each child. They all work hard to balance classroom configurations. Thank you for your support. Please feel free to write any new information on a sheet of 8 x 11 paper and return it to the office no later then Friday, April 24, ARE YOU MOVING? An accurate count of students for each grade is very important. If you are moving to another school or district next year, please let our school office know as soon as possible so that we can plan for classroom sizes and staffing. Please call Lynn or Sonja at or complete the information below and return it to the school office. Student s Name: We will definitely be moving over the summer: May be moving: Moving To: New School/District:
