15 FAQ S Do SMART Board interactive whiteboards come with software? Yes. Award-winning SMART Board software is included. It allows you to write and edit notes, control computer applications, write over any application in digital ink, including moving or still video, and record data and audio. (Windows operating systems only.) Do I need to use a computer with the 600i? The 600i system can operate without being connected to a computer, so users can take notes on the interactive whiteboard or write over an image or video from an external source like a document camera or DVD. To save their work, users simply plug in a USB key and save the file as a.pdf, a.jpg or.notebook file. How do I turn it on? The power for the whole unit is controlled from the single power button located on the control module. A lighted ring around the power button shows the projector status. Where are the volume controls? There is a volume knob located on the control module on the SMART Pen Tray that controls the volume of any input, such as computer or DVD player.
16 FAQ S How do I access the on-screen interface? You can access the projector controls through the menu button, which is located on the control module. Pushing the menu button launches an on-screen interface. Can I write over video? Yes. You can write over video or any input that is connected to the system through the connection panel. You can save your notes to a USB storage device. What is the Unifi 35 projector On-Screen Interface? It is an interactive menu system that is generated by the Unfi projector. By touching the Unifi On-Screen Interface, you can select input sources, adjust projector settings, use a pen to write over any video source in digital ink and capture your work to the ScratchPad whiteboarding application. The Unifi On-Screen Interface works with or without a computer connected. What is ScratchPad? ScratchPad is an application that provides a digital space for capturing notes and images. Like a scaled-down version of SMART s Notebook software, ScratchPad has a page sorter, full-screen mode and buttons for adding and deleting pages. Unlike Notebook, ScratchPad runs entirely from the Unifi projector and does not require a computer to work.
17 FAQ S Can the 600i be used with a GoWire SMART Board software auto-launch cable? Yes. Using GoWire is easy just plug it into the USB connection on the extended connection panel, and connect your laptop. All the features of SMART Board software will be available to you without having to install the software on your computer. What is the resolution of the Unifi projector? The native resolution of the Unifi projector is XGA (1024 x 768). It will accept computer resolutions from VGA up to SXGA. How bright is the projector? The projector is rated at 1,500 lumens. (However, the ANSI lumens test method is not appropriate for high-offset, short-throw projectors. The best way to judge the brightness of the image is to see it firsthand.) What is the lamp life? The bulb in the Unifi projector is rated for 2,000 hours in normal mode and 3,000 hours in economy mode.
