1 18 RENEWABLE ENERGY POTENTIAL The Natural Resources Defense Council offers data concerning renewable energy potential by state & county at Its interactive tool allows a user to measure a state or region s renewable energy potential in the areas of wind, solar, cellulosic biomass, or biogas. Although the Southwest region possesses modest potential in wind & solar, the potential for renewable energy production in cellulosic biomass & biomass is high this indicates possible opportunities for increased employment in these areas in the future.
