Its long range, interference-free networking and excellent voice quality have been extensively field-proven and has an installed base in more than 600 million residential homes. The technology is now being used to combine voice and data LANs to be connected with broadband internet (Integrated Access Devices (IADs)) previously only available for corporate users. These fully integrated ICs incorporate a powerful baseband processor, a DECT RF transceiver and an antenna power amplifier into one compact and cost-effective package. Our solutions cover all DECT protocols (including DECT, DECT 6.0, CAT-iq, KDECT, J-DECT and DECT ULE) and 2.4 GHz and a wide range of ROM and embedded flash memory options are available. Alternatively, the low-power QSPI flash interface gives the best of both worlds. This novel solution speeds time to market and is priced competitively with ROM-based devices. Furthermore, the unique Ultra Long Standby feature lets you create cordless phones with industry-leading standby times of over one month. All Dialog single-chips are based on a proven multi-core architecture, which uses a 16-bit CompactRISC microcontroller for general processing plus powerful DSP cores for audio processing and a dedicated instruction processor to handle all time-critical protocol code. The solutions in the extensive portfolio includes: drop-in modules, chips and IP blocks, allowing OEMs to balance cost, time-to-market and design freedom. The drop-in cordless voice modules are an ideal choice for rapid development, combining all necessary hardware transceiver, baseband, power amplifier and antenna with the complete protocol software stack and an application interface in one compact package. Dialog s portfolio includes transceivers and also a number of single-chip solutions for IADs, cable and Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) applications. All solutions support multiple audio codecs for HD voice, and offer the processing power for advanced audio enhancements. What s more, many of our IAD solutions support DECT ULE (Ultra Low Energy). 5 Software Natalie DECT / CAT-iq protocol software Natalie is a complete, scalable DECT / CAT-iq protocol software environment. Supplied in C source code and based on a user-friendly modular architecture. It allows OEMs to quickly develop customised DECT applications. Natalie can be used with the entire Dialog product family. It incorporates all industry-accepted protocols (including DECT, DECT 6.0, KDECT, J-DECT, 2.4 GHz and all CAT-iq generations) plus DSP-related and operating system (OS) functionality. In addition, the software is fully field upgradable (SUOTA), and our DECT / CAT-iq software roadmap ensures fast migration when new standards are released. Multilingual text to speechsoftware Dialog s powerful text to speech software engine converts any text data into spoken words. This software has been optimised for interpreting names and is ideal for adding a spoken caller ID facility to your application. The engine delivers a very clear and natural-sounding voice. Development kits and reference designs Streamline your product creation process and accelerate your time to market with our comprehensive selection of development kits and reference designs. Reference designs act as an example for your application or system, while development kits comprise all necessary hardware, protocol software and application development tools. DSP tuning tool Dialog offers an easy-to-use DSP tuning tool that allows for the optimisation of a product s audio performance. Its form-driven graphical user interface allows input and output parameters to be tuned to obtain a linear frequency response. This can be carried out in real time using a control connection between a PC and the product hardware. DSP programming tools IP Programmer from Target Compiler Technologies is a set of tools for implementing customer-specific algorithms on the DSPs that feature in Dialog s hardware solutions. It comprises a C compiler (Chess), a linker (Bridge), an assembler / disassembler (Darts), and an instruction-set simulator and on-chip debugger (Checkers). This compiler is only needed if you plan to use the standard algorithms and want to make your own. Checkers offers source-level debugging, which can be done via a cycle and bit-accurate simulator model or through the NEXUS interface to the DSP hardware. IAR Embedded Workbench Embedded Workbench from IAR is a complete integrated development environment for building and debugging embedded applications using assembler, C and C++. It includes a C/C++ compiler, linker, C-SPY simulator and 6

7 Releases DECT DECT 6.0 Korean DECT CAT-iq Japanese DECT Indian DECT Description Since the release of the standard in 1992, Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT) has become the global standard for digital cordless telephony. It operates in the licensed but royalty-free 1.9 GHz frequency band. Employing both FDMA and TDMA, it maximizes the use of the available radio section while dynamic channel selection ensures reliable transmission. As a result, it offers high voice quality, raw data rates up to 1 Mb/s and secure, interference-free communication supporting networks with large numbers of users. Launched as a new US digital cordless telephony standard in January 2006, DECT 6.0 has been successfully positioned as the interference-free wireless communication technology for homes and small-to-medium enterprises. It has been allocated its own dedicated frequency band ( MHz) to avoid interference with legacy products. Besides the quiet, clean spectrum, DECT 6.0 offers solid security standards, ensures private conversations and provides a better range than 2.4 GHz or 5.8 GHz phone systems at equal output power levels. The Korean DECT standard was launched in January 2007, using frequencies from GHz to 1.803GHz. Dialog s DECT single chips can be used in this frequency band without modifications, simply by re-programming the radio. The complete range of Dialog baseband ICs is directly available to build a complete portfolio of phones. Based on the regulative rules of the mature and reliable DECT standard and bringing together broadband internet and telephony, Cordless Advanced Technology internet and quality (CAT-iq) was released in December CAT-iq supports upcoming and exciting consumer products offering innovative features for wireless home communications and entertainment. The Japanese DECT standard aims to enable more economical radio communication systems and more efficient use of the radio spectrum. It operates in the 1900 MHz band currently used by PHS systems, and incorporates carrier sense technology to avoid collision and interference allowing multiple radio systems to co-exist in the same band.
