During this time he also worked as a tutor, introducing students to the sciences. He currently interns at the UC Davis Medical Center, shadowing physicians and helping with clinical infectious disease research. She became passionate about these topics and participated in many health fairs, serving as a translator and an educator on topics including diabetes and stroke. She also participated in the SB810 Lobby Day, which supports a universal healthcare system. Seeing the congested ERs in city after city, she became interested in reducing hospital overcrowding by establishing reliable networks of accessible health resources. For 3 years, she led students and physicians to rural communities throughout Honduras where they provided free healthcare in schools and churches. Through this, she developed a passion for public health and health education. After graduation, Nicole was selected to be an advisor fellow for Global Brigades where she researched the best practices in public health, medical, dental, and environmental brigades. This experience inspired an interest in creating greater access to healthcare in rural communities, health education, and disease prevention. In addition, she participates in a medical mission to Vietnam every summer with GSMDM (Good Samaritan of Medical Dental Ministry) to provide free medical care for the poor.
