2 Today s Meditation By going to the Jordan, Jesus made himself one with the people of Israel who had crossed it into their Promised Land. With John the Baptist, Christ wove himself into the prophetic tradition that heralded the coming reign of God. He had become fully human in the waters of Mary s womb, and by partaking in the rite of the baptism of repentance, Jesus identified himself with our sinful, frail humanity. It is through the waters of baptism that Christ continues to graft new members onto his Body, the Church; through these waters we are cleansed from sin and filled with the promise of grace, given our destiny for eternal life. 4 Social Ministries Social Ministries has begun their annual collection of coats and sweaters this Saturday, January 9th. The collection bin will be in the Gathering Area for all of your donations of cold-weather clothing items that are clean and in good condition. Please help us to give warmth to those who may not otherwise have it. The collection will end on Sunday, January 24th. Thank you, friends. Social Ministries will provide a bin for your donations and later deliver them to our local Humane Society on 23rd St. Again, thank you very much for your caring and generosity. Stations of the Cross Via Crucis Prayer Garden Cemetery Rules for Flowers & Wreaths We ask that all artificial flowers not be pushed directly into the ground. Please use a metal container or PVC pipe with Styrofoam to prevent wind from blowing around your flowers. All wreaths should be secured. All flowers and wreaths should be removed no later than 30 days after the holiday. We have resumed reciting the Stations of the Cross in our Via Crucis Prayer Garden after the 9:00 a.m. Mass on the second Sunday of the month. Please join us. this Sunday, January 10th at 10:15 a.m. in our Prayer Garden. Special Wedding Anniversaries Will you be celebrating your 50th, 60th or 70th Wedding Anniversary in 2021? Please call Rebecca in the office to let us know at Rosary The Knights of Columbus invite you to join them in reciting the Rosary before Mass on Saturday, January 30th and Sunday, January 31st. The Knights pray the Rosary before the Masses each 5th weekend of a month. They also invite you to join them the first Sunday of the month in the Parish Hall. On Sunday, February 7th all are invited to join in the Recitation of the Rosary. Social Distancing is observed and masks must be worn.
