Course FINC 3630 provides a survey of corporate finance theory by facilitating an advanced understanding of financial concepts such as risk and return relationships, domestic securities markets, time value of money, security and corporate valuation, capital budgeting, and working capital management. 7 Dec. 4 Review for Final Final Exam ASSIGNMENTS Assignments / Projects FINC 3630 is the course the Finance majors show they have met the departmental learning goals of technology applications and information literacy; therefore an important component of FINC 3630 is to create Excel spreadsheets. There will be five computer assignments throughout the semester that are worth a total of 15% of your grade. The instructor expects students to know Excel basics already; students will learn how to do Finance problems in Excel. If students are good at Excel, they can do the assignment early also. EXAMS There will be two exams during the semester and one final exam. The majority of each exam will be problems; there will also be a few short discussion questions and a few multiple choice questions. Students should have a financial calculator for each exam. Grade Components Assignments 15% (3% each) Exam 1 25% Exam 2 30% Final Exam 30% Rubric and Grading Scale Grading Scale A 90% and above, B: between 80% 90% C: between 70% 80% D: between 60% 70% F below 60%. Supplemental Information For Addition Of Distance Education Course Justification for DE Students enrolled in the online BSAD program will take online courses to meet degree completion requirements. 7/9

8 Delivery This course is part of the online BSAD program. College facilities are fully equipped for delivery of distance courses. The HCOB has dedicated IT personnel available to assist with distance delivery. Additional resources are available on line through the library and OIT HelpDesk (334) Access to Resources Library resources can be accessed using this link: Information about the OIT HelpDesk can be found here: Course Content Delivery The course will be delivered via Canvas using a combination of instructional techniques including recorded video, text, interactive simulations, narrated video. The instructor will utilize Canvas and be available for asynchronous discussion and also have established synchronous discussion times throughout the term. The course will also use virtualization software allowing students to run software on their computers in order to meet course objectives. Course Interaction The instructor will have three virtual office hours each week. The instructor will be available for asynchronous discussion and will also have established synchronous discussion times to allow discussion of course content and answer any student questions. Examinations will be proctored through the testing center. 9 Excused Absences: Students are granted excused absences from class for the following reasons: illness of the student or serious illness of a member of the student's immediate family, the death of a member of the student's immediate family, trips for student organizations sponsored by an academic unit, trips for university classes, trips for participation in intercollegiate athletic events, subpoena for a court appearance, and religious holidays. Students who wish to have an excused absence from class for any other reason must contact the instructor in advance of the absence to request permission. The instructor will weigh the merits of the request, and render a decision. When feasible, the student must notify the instructor prior to the occurrence of any excused absences, but in no case shall such notification occur more than one week after the absence. Appropriate documentation for all excused absences is required. Please consult the Student Policy ehandbook for more information on excused absences. Make Up Policy: Arrangement to make up a missed major examination (e.g.:hour exams, mid term exams) due to properly authorized excused absences must be initiated by the student within one week of the end of the period of the excused absence(s). Except in unusual circumstances, such as the continued absence of the student or the advent of university holidays, a make up exam will take place within two weeks of the date that the student initiates arrangements for it. Except in extraordinary circumstances, no make up exams will be arranged during the last three days before the final exam period begins. Academic Honesty Policy: All portions of the Auburn University student academic honesty code (Title XII) found in the Student Policy ehandbook will apply to university courses. All academic honesty violations or alleged violations of the SGA Code of Laws will be reported to the Office of the Provost, which will then refer the case to the Academic Honesty Committee.
