The Netherlands advanced to the knockout rounds by coming out of their group play with a perfect score of nine, winning all three of their games in group play and Mexico advancing as a close second to Brazil in their group. El Tri s coach, Miguel Herrera has already released his line-up for the match with his only change to the lineup being Carlos Salcido playing for Jose Juan Vazquez in center midfield who is out from a two yellow card suspension. Oribe Peralta and Giovanni Dos Santos will still be his starting front line pair with Javier Hernandez (Chicharito) coming in off the bench and the brick wall, Guillermo Ochoa, will be in his usual goalkeeper position. The Mexican team is relying on Saint Ochoa to continue with his stellar performance to make it through to the next round. The Netherlands are the favored team to win this match and possibly the entire tournament. Le Oranje will be welcoming back Robin Van Persie to the lineup after missing the last game due to a two yellow card suspension, adding to the front-line pressure that Arjen Robben already provides. In the goaltender position for the Dutch will be Jasper Cillessen. This match is truly offense versus defense with the Netherlands outscoring all other teams in group play with 10 goals and Mexico allowing only one goal in their three matches played. If El Tri manages to shut out the Netherlands, it will be a feat unmatched by any other opponent in tournament the Dutch have faced. Whichever team wins this match will go on to the quarterfinals stage and will be one step closer to raising the World Cup as champions. 7 PLAYER BIOS Ochoa The wall that keeps Mexico in Mexico s team performance has been nothing short of astonishing, but there has been one player that has ensured Mexico s success in the tournament, Guillermo Ochoa. The team s goalkeeper has been the wall preventing opponents from defeating Mexico and is the key to keeping them in the tournament. The 28-year-old is being praised as Saint Ochoa and definitely has the hopes of a nation riding on his back. Ochoa dominated in group play, allowing only one goal in all three games. The only goal came from Croatia late in game when Mexico was already leading by three. It was during the match against Brazil that Ochoa really impressed, along with his teammates, by ending the game in a 0-0 draw. It was in that game that Memo became a hero for the Mexican team fans, making six spectacular saves. If Ochoa continues to deliver performances like the ones seen in group play, you can be sure that Mexico will be a force to be reckoned with.

8 Van Persie The Flying Dutchman The match against Mexico marks Robin van Persie s return to the World Cup stage following a two yellow card suspension in the prior game against Chile and the Dutch are glad to have him back. In the Netherlands first match in group play this World Cup, the Dutch faced off with defending world champions, Spain. Van Persie had two goals, but none as extraordinary as his first, which earned him the nickname Flying Dutchman because he made the header soar into the net while at the same time appearing to soar, himself. Van Persie s presence in the starting line-up will bring added pressure to the already formidable pair of Robben and Sneijder against the El Tri s defense. Van Persie is the Netherlands all-time leading scorer, and continues to attempt to add to that number. The 30-year-old will be looking to break down the Mexican defense and seek every opportunity to score and, possibly, recreate his opening goal. If prior matches are any indication on what we should expect from the Flying Dutchman, then we should be in for quite a show!

9 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DePaul University FIFA Agency CONTACT: Veronica Padilla PK SEALS MEXICO S FATE DURING CONTROVERSIAL FINISH ARENA CASTELAO (June 29, 2014) The Dutch defeated Mexico two to one in dramatic fashion during a steamy World Cup quarterfinals match. During the 88th minute, Wesley Sneijder tied up the game after Mexico aimed to coast into the semifinals after scoring an early second half goal. Six minutes later, Arjen Robben earned a penalty that set up the winning penalty kick by Klaas Jan Huntelaar that sent Mexico home. Mexico coach Miguel Herrera was quick to respond to the penalty after the game blaming referee Pedro Proenca. Today it was the man with the whistle who eliminated us from the World Cup, he said. If a referee invents a penalty, you re out of the World Cup. I hope they have a look at what happened and that this gentleman goes home just like we are. However the Dutch saw the outcome of the game differently. During the second half, Netherlands coach Louis Van Gaal went to plan B and shifted his team into a formation that allowed the Dutch to control the pace of the game in the second half. The humidity was against us, but we were fresher and fitter than the Mexicans, said Van Gaal. Yes, we escaped. But we showed that we could create more chances with 4-3-3, and the players handled the shift very well. Giovani Dos Santos gave the Mexicans the lead in the 48th minute which appeared to be the winning goal until the final five minutes of the game.
