4 The Building 3 From 1869 to 2013 Notre Dame was situated on Everton Valley in Liverpool 4. It underwent many changes: from a grammar school to a comprehensive after the 1983 reorganisation of Catholic schools in the city. In July 2013 the college packed up and moved to its new state-of-the-art building situated on Great Homer Street. The final day of the 2013 term ended with staff and students enjoying the summer heatwave, relaxing in the college grounds while the Performing Arts Department entertained the gathering. 3 P a g e

6 The Chapel Notre Dame Hall 5 Notre Dame Hall was the convent chapel when the Sisters lived here in Everton Valley. The Sisters lived in the convent until Notre Dame Hall had a multi-purpose use in the college. It was often the venue for external examinations but was used more regularly for morning assembly. The annual Carols by Candlelight absorbed the atmosphere of Notre Dame Hall, as did the joy of results day each August! The atmosphere created in the hall provided a special place for the students. 5 P a g e

7 Headteachers 6 On the occasion of the final Mass in the college, three headteachers were present. 10 St Julie Resource Centre 9 Originally an assembly hall in the college, the then St Julie Hall was refurbished in the late 1990s to become a resource centre. It provided the ideal setting for sixth form private study or even for being interviewed by Granada TV for a news bulletin! Exhibitions of students work were often on display. 9 P a g e

11 Former Staff 10 A final closing Mass was held in Notre Dame Hall on Friday 19 April 2013, when many former staff returned to the college. Bishop Tom Williams celebrated the Mass with Fr Graeme Dunne (St Anthony s parish) and Fr Michael Fitzsimons (St John s parish).
