International footprint T-Solar has a pipeline of 644 MWp in all its target markets world-wide, (in Spain and elsewhere). It aims to increase its current installed capacity fourfold by 2012, thereby reaching 573 MW. This will make it one of the three largest independent PV power providers world-wide. To achieve this mission, the company will be boosting its installed capacity in Spain, reinforcing its market leadership there whilst also focusing on growing its footprint in non-spanish markets that it considers strategic to its plans, such as Italy, France, the United States and India. T-Solar is constantly prospecting new business opportunities outside its priority markets. Last year, it carried out feasibility studies for photovoltaic projects in Latin America, northern Africa, the Middle East and Eastern Europe. Usa The high level of solar irradiation, in the aptly named Sun Belt from California to Texas, along with the government programmes to support and encourage the use of renewable energy sources have made the United States one of T-Solar s priority targets as it moves into the international markets. Its strategy is to roll out new projects n the context of the new Distributed Utility framework. Perú T-Solar was one of the winners of the first government tender in Peru for supplying power generated from renewable sources. It will be providing the country with 173 GWh a year, which the government has committed to buy from it for 20 years. Prior to 30th June 2012, it will be installing four 20MW PV power farms (two in a consortium with another company). 10 Press dossier 2010

Spain T-Solar is the biggest solar PV power generator in the market, with an installed capacity of MWp and a further 6.34 MWp under development. France T-Solar has a local partner for a joint venture to build PV plants with an installed capacity of 120 MWp in southern France. Since mid 2009, it has had a team working full-time to develop the market. At present, the company has a network of local partners and suppliers focusing on growing its pipeline. Italy This was the country in which T-Solar began its international operations It now has 7.3 MWp nearing completion in the Puglia region, and a pipeline of MWp. India The Indian authorities have established a target for 2020: they wish to install a total capacity of 20 GW. To achieve it, it has set up a plan called the India Solar Mission, which encourages and rewards the development of photovoltaic projects. T-Solar already has a team working in Delhi, which has identified sites in which to install 50 MWp, and has entered into partnership with the local company, SOMA Enterprise Ltd. Press dossier

Innovation Of the 1.07 bn the company has invested to the end of 2009, the construction and commissioning of the photovoltaic modules factory in Orense has accounted for 8% of the total. In this factory, T-Solar has been developing its thin-film amorphous silicon technology and enhancing the performance and efficiency of the modules. These are a key factor in making PV solar power increasingly competitive on the market. Innovation in manufacturing T-Solar has its own manufacturing plant in the Galicia technology park (Orense), for the production of large-area thin-film amorphous silicon modules. The factory, all 14,600 m 2 of it, has an integrated, automatic production line with a nominal output capacity of 45 MW a year. This is equivalent to the installation of 700,000 m 2 of photovoltaic modules. Its efficient production system enables it to put out one 5.7 m 2 module every three minutes. In the last quarter of 2009, the factory finished its ramp-up (initial operation, testing and fine tuning) and began working at full capacity 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with three back-to-back shifts. 12 Press dossier 2010

T-Solar Modules T-Solar s flexible production system enables it to manufacture two models of photovoltaic panels. The TS410 module, measuring 5.7 m 2, reaches a capacity of 410 W per unit, while the TS95 module, measuring 1.4 m 2, provides a capacity of 95 W. These modules have several competitive advantages. They cost less per square metre of surface area in each unit (0.15 grams/watt in amorphous silicon compared with 8 grams/watt in crystalline silicon), therefore offering a better energy performance than crystalline modules. (This is the time required for a thin-film solar cell to produce the same power output as was employed in manufacturing. It is approximately one year and a half, as against two and a half years in the case of crystalline silicon). They also have a higher energy performance than standard technology. (They generate between 5% and 10% more energy per power unit). They work under any atmospheric conditions (making them ideal for integration into buildings at the architectural design stage) and are more reliable as there is no soldering between cells. They are made with elements that are found in abundance on Earth (basically silicon, oxygen and light metals). Enhanced performance of the modules T-Solar has been spearheading a European research project, known as Helathis (High Efficient Very Large Area Thin Film Silicon Photovoltaic Modules). This project was presented in 2008 as part of the European Commission s Seventh Framework Programme. It is endowed with a budget of 3.1 m. The working partners in it are a German research institute, Forschungszentrum Jülich, the universities of Barcelona (Spain) and Utrecht (Netherlands) and AGC Flat Glass Europe (Belgium), the largest producer of flat glass world-wide for the construction industry and specialised industrial use. 14 New photovoltaic products Solar PV is one of the renewable energy sources best suited to urban environments. T-Solar invests heavily in R&D to turn what is traditionally wasted space in buildings into areas where clean electricity can be generated. At present, the company is developing two photovoltaic products that can be designed as an integral part of the architectural plans for roofs and façades. We are expecting them to come onto the market in Roof mounted installations T-Solar has developed innovative roof-mounted PV plants, covering a total surface area of 17,700 m 2 and providing 1.15 MWp installed capacity. It set up its pilot plant on the roof of its own factory in Orense, comprising 2,544 PV modules which are already connected to the Spanish grid. The second such plant has been placed on the roofs of 15 buildings on the Madrid university, Universidad Autónoma, and on the car-park canopies of the Cantoblanco Campus. 14 Press dossier 2010

Committed to sustainability Ever since it first started trading, T-Solar has made environmental sustainability a mainstream policy for all the company s activities. Its clean generation using photovoltaic power avoids CO 2 emissions into the air. It also develops environmentally friendly PV farms (minimising dug foundations and re-foresting its sites). Its production of photovoltaic modules uses a system that is guaranteed by several environmental certificates. Generating clean electricity Generating electricity with photovoltaic technology is clean, quiet and reduces CO 2 emissions. The clean electricity generated by T-Solar in 2009 (218.8 GWh) has avoided the emission of over 74,000 tonnes of CO 2 into the atmosphere. Press dossier

Sustainable power farm construction T-Solar photovoltaic power farms are built in accordance with environmentally friendly criteria. Pre-fabricated ballast beams are usually used to anchor the building modules for most power farms, thus eliminating the need to dig underground foundations. This makes it easier to dismantle the power farm at the end of its design life, without causing any environmental impact. Moreover, no re-casting is required by the laminated steel brackets supporting the panels, which can immediately be used again after decommissioning. T-Solar also plants native shrubs around the perimeter of its power farms and plants new forests (it has reforested over 160,000 m 2 of land). Environmental certificates The T-Solar module manufacturing system has the ISO environmental standard certificate awarded by AENOR, and the EMAS environmental management and audit accreditation, an EU voluntary standard that recognises companies that have implemented an Environmental Management System and have taken on a commitment to improve. Re-cycling photovoltaic modules T-Solar is a member of the PV Cycle Association, devoted to developing a European voluntary collection and re-cycling programme for photovoltaic modules when power farms come to the end of their design life. Membership of this group of photovoltaic panel installers and distributers guarantees T-Solar s commitment to make the photovoltaic industry doubly green by minimising the amount of waste at the end of a power farm s design life. 16 Press dossier 2010
