You can now spend three days with Joe and JoAnne, up close and personal. What better way to end your summer and welcome fall then to spend a weekend in the Pocono Mountains of Milford, Pennsylvania. Come out to the country, smell the mountain air, and visit the historic town of Milford. Enjoy a weekend of education and photography with Joe DiMaggio & JoAnne Kalish. Both JoAnne and Joe are internationally known photographers in the world of assignment and stock photography for over 25 years and have won numerous photographic and art director awards. Once described as a great contradistinction, the Team of DiMaggio/Kalish each approaches the art of photography from two radically different viewpoints and styles. The end result is always a fine photograph. Instructors Joe & JoAnne will take you on a journey that will put magic back into your photography whether you re a beginner or a serious advanced amateur. Their passion for what they do is paramount in not only their success but in watching you, the student, succeed. On your photographic retreat through the upper Delaware Joe and JoAnne will teach you the basics of landscape and scenic photography, shooting indoors in low light situations, time/motion studies the environmental portrait, and close-up photography. You will learn about cameras - analog versus digital, lens selection, and composition. In the classroom there will be two separate and distinct presentations along with multi-media shows. Joe and JoAnne will teach you the tricks of the trade - what took them 30 years to learn you will have an opportunity to learn in 3 short days. Saturday evening is always a special and during the course of the evening you learn how to photograph in a nightclub or theatre situation. In addition, there will be a portfolio critique of your work. This program will be one of the most

2 complete photographic adventures you will ever attend. The workshop is predicated on if we re not having a good time let s do something else. It s a student friendly photographic workshop. 3 concerned you have Joe, a bearded, boyish bear of a man with a ruddy face, an easy smile and eyes that have seen much of the world in his career as a leading action, editorial and advertising photographer. Joe's impish sense of humor and fearless nature make him an excellent traveler. His knowledge of the photographic arts is impressive. With his easy-going personality, Joe is a perfect teacher of these skills. Everything sounds easy once Joe explains it. Recently one of Joe s students commented he amazes me; he can find a great photograph in a situation where there appears to be nothing. JoAnne is an interesting contrast to Joe; also easy-going but yet understated about her own editorial and advertising work. JoAnne s reputation and experience are extremely impressive yet she tends not to get caught up with all that. Joe would say her talent is huge and her ego is so small in comparison. But yet, because of this, students easily identify with JoAnne. Her knowledge, background and skills make her an excellent teacher. She is presently working on an on-going project on Sensuality. JoAnne s work is more stylized than Joe s and she works at a different more relaxed pace. Together The Team of DiMaggio Kalish is an unbeatable combination it s something you certainly want to experience. You will come away with a big smile on your face, be a better photographer and have a greater understanding of what it s all about.

Retreat Netimus 708 Raymondskill Road Milford, PA *A Special note to our students Both JoAnne and myself are motivated by the art of photography and by communicating through photography We have always been inspired by the great photographers who proceeded us and mentored us. The business aspect of photography has probably fallen short as we have never been motivated by money. It took 3 years to conceive this workshop and we both want it to be extremely special not only to you but to us (we also are students.) The accommodations at Retreat Netimus are very basic, clean, wholesome and rustic. The rooms are on a first come first serve basis. There are 7 rooms in the main house, and 3 bathrooms down the hall. There are 3 rooms in the infirmary with two bathrooms and

5 two rooms in Cabin One with one bathroom. There are two separate rooms in another cabin. After that, there are 17 individual cabins that normally hold 10 campers with a small bathroom. Just so you know up front the 17 individual cabins are almost equivalent to camping. We will further explain by saying the housing, food transportation, music and entertainment are complimentary. If you require queen size beds, a private bathroom, a telephone, television, cable, or 4 star dining, we will be happy to assist you in finding the right accommodations but at your own additional cost. The most important factor in our decision, on doing this workshop, is sharing some great photographic and life experiences, and having a lot of fun. Because JoAnne and I truly believe in this concept we are limiting the program to 15 students per instructor. GETTING THERE & AWAY Retreat Netimus is located in Pike County, Pennsylvania. It is two miles from the scenic Delaware River, Netimus sits atop the beautiful Pocono Mountains 5 miles from Historic Milford. DRIVING/TRAIN/BUS Located in the Northeastern corner of Pennsylvania, on the Eastern border of the Poconos, Pike County is within driving time of one-third of the nation's population. Interstate 84 crosses East to West through the County, providing access to New York State and New England, and connections to Interstate 80 and 81. Often known as the Tri- State area, both New York State and New Jersey are moments way from the County Seat. Commuter bus service to New York's Port Authority and train service to Hoboken, NJ makes commuting to the metropolitan area a viable option, being approximately 75 miles from New York City.
