Students will use computer based studio and audio production tools to record and produce creative music and audio tracks. VET in School (VETiS) VETiS offers you the opportunity to complete a nationally recognised qualification, while providing credit towards your VCAL, just like your other subjects. The study score can contribute directly to your ATAR score and give you access to guaranteed pathways for further study at Bendigo TAFE. Certificates Certificate programs combine theory and practical components of a subject to prepare you for a job in your chosen industry. You can learn basic to advanced skills as you move up each certificate qualification. Diplomas and advanced diplomas A diploma or advanced diploma can help you progress your career further with specialised industry specific knowledge and and gain employment at a more skilled, specialised or para-professional level. 5 Your study experience Bendigo TAFE is spread across five regional campuses throughout central Victoria and home to over 9,000 students from diverse backgrounds, ages and interests each year. Not only do you have access to purpose-built state-of-the-art facilities, but also to a range of support services. The Charleston Road Campus is a 20 minute walk from the trian station. 6 We support you through your journey We work hard to make it easy for our students to enjoy their experience at Bendigo TAFE. You can access any of our support programs when you need to throughout your time with us. TutorSpace TutorSpace is a free study session with specialist tutors to help our students write an assessment, how to begin a project, basic information technology skills or just to build your confidence in areas you need help with. These sessions run at various times and days during the week throughout the school year and are located in the Bendigo City Campus Library. Student support services team Bendigo TAFE s student support services provide free and confidential services to students across all campuses with the aim facilitating a positive learning environment for students. Employment centre One of our primary goals is to strengthen the employability of our students and help them find real jobs in their chosen industry. Our Employment Centre is specifically dedicated to helping you to develop your employability skills. Our experts can help you with job searches, one-on-one coaching, access to the weekly vacancy listing and other useful resources. 7 Paying for your course How much you pay is determined by the course you enrol in, the scheduled hours you commit to undertake, your eligibility for a government-subsidised place and any concession entitlements you might be eligible for. Health Care Card If you are eligible for a Health Care Card, make sure you apply for one through Centrelink prior to enrolling so you are eligible to pay concession fees. Find out if you are elibile for fee assistance at bendigotafe.edu.au/courses/fees-and-charges/ Study now, pay later with VET FEE-HELP VET FEE-HELP, an Australian government loan scheme, can cover all or part of your tuition fees for Diploma courses or higher. When you take out a VET FEE-HELP loan, the Government pays the loan amount directly to Bendigo TAFE. When you finish your course and start working, you will need to repay the loan. For more information, visit studyassist.gov.au Part payment plans Part payment plans are available to anyone enrolling into a certificate course. Bendigo TAFE offers eligible students the option of paying their course fees over time. Weekly or fortnightly instalment payments are set up to cover tuition, material and consumable fees. 8 How to apply Applying for a course is easy. Just follow these simple steps to get your application in. Make sure you check your course dates and apply early so we can enrol you in the next intake. Step 1. Pick the course you want to study from this course guide and go online to our website. VTAC applications VTAC handles most applications for entry into higher education and some full time TAFE courses from the certificate IV level onwards. The course guide will indicate if you need to apply through VTAC for your course. To find out how to apply via VTAC, visit vtac.edu.au Step 2. Find the course using the Find a course search option and click on Online Application. Step 3. Fill out the online application form, select your campus and hit the Submit button. Step 4. That s it. We will review your application and will contact you directly to confirm your application status. Most courses commence at the start of semesters one and two, but there are some courses which take enrolments at any time throughout the year (rolling enrolments). 14 Creative Industries Course Guide

10 Design Certificate IV in Design Diploma of Graphic Design Advanced Diploma of Building Design (Architectural) Course Code CUV40311 Application to VTAC and supplementary application to Bendigo TAFE / semester one A starting point for your design career, you will learn about design briefs, creative thinking and design solutions. Key study areas include basic design principles and elements, drawing, typography, colour theory, 2D and 3D exploration and techniques, use of design software and creative thinking skills. Individual interview. A Certificate III in Design Fundamentals or some creative and design skills are recommended. Junior design assistant. Diploma of Graphic Design. Course Code CUV50311 Direct entry / semester one This qualification reflects the role of graphic designers at the beginning of their professional careers. They combine technical, creative and conceptual skills to create designs that meet client requirements and solve a range of visual communication challenges. Assessment of folio and individual interview. Freelance designer, graphic design assistant. Upon completion of this course, you will be guaranteed a place at La Trobe University and Deakin University to undertake a Bachelor Degree. Some art and design skills. Get a guaranteed university place! Course Code 22268VIC Application to VTAC and supplementary application to Bendigo TAFE / semester one Design and document residential and commercial buildings with the ability to follow sustainable building design principles. Select building materials, present a design, conduct bushfire attack level assessments and apply to a design. Comply with building regulations and legislation, architectural project administration and small business planning. Full time: 2 years, then part time for final 1 year Individual interview. Applicants must complete a language, literacy and numeracy skills (LLN) application. Building designer, employment in the building industry, draftsperson. Architecture at university level. Hone your skills for pursuing a career in web development, film making, editing, visual effects and game development with this all-encompassing digital course. Interview. Part time: 2 years Assessment of folio and individual interview. Advertiser, corporate writer, freelance writer (fiction), journalist, poet, public relations consultant, reviewer, freelance writer (non-fiction), publisher (traditional and e-book/digital) and editor. Diploma of Professional Writing. Basic computer skills. Literacy and numeracy skills to the Australian Core Skills Framework level 3 (assessed at interview). A portfolio of three pieces of work as well as a summary of career goals in the writing and editing industry. 13 Arts Certificate IV in Visual Arts Diploma of Visual Arts Course Code CUV40111 Direct entry / semester one This qualification is designed for students working at a pre-professional level who are developing their own artistic voice. They produce work that shows proficiency with techniques in their chosen art form and are able to apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable problems. Assessment of folio and individual interview. The course is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in the diverse visual arts industry. Studio based or shared workshop environment as a painter, sculptor, printmaker or in the photographic industry. Visual arts qualifications at diploma, advanced diploma and degree levels. Some art and design skills and intermediate literacy and numeracy.
