Covenant Presbyterian Church Building Gospel Community A congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America
Votum (PS. 124:8) The Lord s Day October 4, 2020 Leader: Our help is in the name of the Lord Congregation: Who made heaven and earth. Read and Hear God s Call to Worship: Blessed be the LORD! For he has heard the voice of my pleas for mercy. The LORD is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him. (Psalm 28:6-7) Sing - Blessed be Your Name In the land that is plentiful Where Your streams of abundance flow When I'm found in the desert place Though I walk through the wilderness Ev ry blessing You pour out I ll Turn back to praise When the darkness closes in Lord Still I will say Blessed be Your glorious name Ev ry blessing You pour out I ll Turn back to praise When the darkness closes in Lord Still I will say
Blessed be Your glorious name When the sun's shining down on me When the world's all as it should be On the road marked with suffering Though there's pain in the offering You give and take away You give and take away My heart will choose to say Lord blessed be Your name You give and take away You give and take away My heart will choose to say Lord blessed be Your name Blessed be Your glorious name Blessed be Your glorious name CCLI Song # Beth Redman Matt Redman 2002 Thankyou Music (Admin. by Capitol CMG Publishing) For use solely with the SongSelect. 4 Pray Almighty and most merciful father, we have erred and strayed from Your ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the intentions and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against Your holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; and we have done those things which we ought not to have done; and there is nothing in us to merit your favor. O, Lord, have mercy upon us who are miserable because of our sin. Forgive us, O God, as we confess our faults. Restore us, as we are penitent; according to Your promises declared unto all people in Christ Jesus our Lord. And grant, O most merciful Father, for His sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to the Glory of Your Holy name. Amen. Read and Hear God s Assurance of Pardon Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered. No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:35-39) Sing - One Thing Remains (Your Love Never Fails) Higher than the mountains that I face Stronger than the power of the grave Constant in the trial and the change One thing remains One thing remains
Your love never fails It never gives up Never runs out on me(x2) Your love On and on and on and on it goes It overwhelms and satisfies my soul And I never ever have to be afraid One thing remains One thing remains In death in life I'm confident and Cover'd by the power of Your great love My debt is paid there's nothing that Can separate my heart from Your great love(x2) Your love never fails It never gives up Never runs out on me(x2) Your love Your love never fails It never gives up Never runs out on me(x2) Your love CCLI Song # Brian Johnson Christa Black Gifford Jeremy Riddle 2010 ChristaJoy Music Publishing (Admin. by Bethel Music Publishing) Mercy / Vineyard Publishing (Admin. by Capitol CMG Publishing (Integrity Music, David C Cook)) Bethel Music Publishing For use solely with the SongSelect. 6 2- The Wonderful Cross When I survey the wondrous cross On which the Prince of Glory died My richest gain I count but loss And pour contempt on all my pride Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast save in the death of Christ My God All the vain things that charm me most I sacrifice them to his blood Bids me come and die and find That I may truly live All who gather here by grace Draw near and bless Your name See from his head his hands his feet Sorrow and love flow mingled down Did e er such love and sorrow meet or thorns compose so rich a crown Bids me come and die and find That I may truly live All who gather here by grace Draw near and bless Your name
Were the whole realm of nature mine that were an offering far too small love so amazing so divine demands my soul my life my all Bids me come and die and find That I may truly live All who gather here by grace Draw near and bless Your name CCLI Song # Chris Tomlin Isaac Watts J. Deliver me, O LORD, from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue. What shall be given to you, and what more shall be done to you, you deceitful tongue? A warrior s sharp arrows, with glowing coals of the broom tree! Woe to me, that I sojourn in Meshech, that I dwell among the tents of Kedar! Too long have I had my dwelling among those who hate peace.i am for peace, but when I speak, they are for war!
Confession of Faith - The Apostles Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. Gloria Patri Glory be to the Father And to the Son And to the Holy Ghost As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be World without end Amen Scripture Reading - Matthew 10:34-39 Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. And a person s enemies will be those of his own household. Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
Sing - Open The Eyes Of My Heart Grace of the Father before there was time, chose us in Christ by the mercy divine. Love laid the plans for our rescue to be purchased by blood for our union with thee. Humbled in flesh, O thou bright shining Son, Lord of the universe bearing our sin, long-suff ring Servant from manger to tree, thy substitution won union with thee. Raised on the third day, Destroyer of death, sent forth thy Spirit with lifegiving breath. Hearts are made new, dead eyes opened to see; life-yielding faith brings us union with thee. Filled with thy Spirit, we re led by thy Word; cross before crown is our road and reward. Dark be the path, yet in thy light we see dying is living in union with thee. Loved by the Father and bought by the Son, called by the Spirit to service and song, strangers and exiles until we receive pleasures unfading in union with thee.

WORSHIP THIS WEEK We will offer gathered worship this Sunday, October 4 at 10:30 a.m., but will continue to welcome those who are more comfortable to worship with us virtually via our Facebook page. If you can't catch us at that time, a replay will be made available on our website on Monday. Effective July 1, Seminole County requires every person to wear a mask and follow CDC social distancing guidelines while at all businesses, places of assembly, and in public. This means that all people in attendance at CPC for worship or other activities must wear a mask. There are a few relevant exceptions. You may remove your mask if you are: Outdoors and social distancing. Under the age of two years. Eating or drinking. Communicating with someone who is hearing-impaired and must see the mouth of someone wearing a mask in order to communicate. We do have a limited number of adult and child-sized masks available if you do not have one or forget yours. You will be asked to wear your mask at all times while worshiping or congregating at CPC. Further, IF YOU ARE SICK OR FEELING UNDER THE WEATHER, even if your symptoms do not indicate COVID-19, please DO NOT come to church. Stay home, rest and recover, so that you can join us again when you're feeling better. This goes for your children as well. Please consider the needs of your neighbors and community at this time and act with grace and love by complying with this executive order and our request for healthy gathering.
CHILDREN AND WORSHIP We love kids, and we are glad to have your children worshiping alongside us! Our service will include a special Bible lesson just for them. If your children need a break, parents are welcome to take them to the nursery to play. Our nursery also has a place for changing diapers, a family restroom, and a private space for nursing mothers. WORSHIP AT CPC A worship service at Covenant Presbyterian Church lasts about an hour and fifteen minutes, sometimes more and sometime less. The flow of those services, the liturgy, will typically look like this: Welcome and Announcements Song of Adoration Confession of Sin Assurance of Pardon Songs of Praise Scripture Reading Creed and Prayer Children s Lesson Scripture Reading and Sermon Lord s Supper Benediction Doxology If you don t know when to stand or sit, don t sweat it. Follow those around you. We forget sometimes, too. And if you have questions we ll be happy to attempt an answer after the service. THE LORD S SUPPER AT CPC The Lord s Supper is a joyful part of Christian worship which we celebrate weekly. If you are a Christian, we are happy to have you join with us even if you are not a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. If you have any uncertainties about whether you should partake or not, seek out the pastor or one of the elders before the service. If you are not a Christian, to partake of the Supper would be to express a faith that you do not embrace. That would not be fair to you, or good. So, feel free to stay in your seat. We do not mind. We are glad to have you as our guest. Address 1925 W. CR-419 Oviedo, Florida Mailing Address PO Box Oviedo, Florida Contact Us admin@cpcoviedo.com cpcoviedo.com
