1 JOB PROFILE JOB TITLE TEM REPORTS TO POLITICLLY RESTRICTED Y/N DBS CHECK Y/N Business Infrastructure Support Officer ICT ICT Infrastructure Team Leader No No DTE March 2016 JOB PURPOSE To assist in the support of the network, desktop and telephone infrastructure and the provision of a robust, reliable and secure ICT Infrastructure to meet the Council s business requirements. The responsible Officer providing specialist support to Members in various locations.

2 MIN DUTIES ND RESPONSIBILITIES: ssist the Infrastructure Team Leader with ctive Directory roles and server administration and monitoring ensure system security, software policies and procedures are up to date. This also includes the Web filter, Spam filter and the XEN pp (Citrix) infrastructure. Network infrastructure ensuring that, as part of the Infrastructure team, the system is robust and fit for purpose. That is, cabling, hardware switches and firewalls that link the computers to the servers and all hardware that binds the system together including the telephone VoIP infrastructure and virtual infrastructure. Backup & Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity Responsible for ensuring the backup procedure is run on all Council systems thus ensuring that data can be restored in any circumstances. lso required to perform testing of backups and restore. Security of council systems and data assist the Infrastructure Team Leader to ensure that the system is tamper proof and not vulnerable by ensuring windows and firewall updates are applied. Ensuring that the user and no one else is in control of their data. Ensuring security arrangements including access permissions are in place and operational. Data Communications Lines responsible for maintaining and monitoring Wide rea Network (WN) communication links and peripherals to help pre-empt failure. This also includes the planned installation of a corporate wireless network. Storage rea Network (SN) assist with monitoring and maintaining the main data storage devices. assist with monitoring and maintaining the infrastructure including connected devices like smartphones, tablets and antispam/quarantine systems. To provide day to day 2nd and 3rd line support to all users of TDC according to defined priorities using the Service Desk application. To operate as a member of the ICT Team providing cover for other team members and to promote skills exchanges. Remote connection support - temporary & permanent e.g. suppliers and home/remote working. Responsible for the desktop computer build and rollout to users. Designated Officer to provide IT support to the members. Visiting members providing oneto-one training. Directly responsible and accountable for this role. Provide support to remote sites including Piper s Yard, Northam Burrows, Westcombe and Holsworthy rea Office Other duties: In order to deliver services effectively, a degree of flexibility is needed and the postholder may be required to perform work not specifically referred to above. Such duties, however, should not normally exceed those expected of an employee at that grade. Ensure that they maintain an appropriate level of knowledge and skills to enable them to fulfil their duties.

3 cknowledge that where the postholder develops, alters, or otherwise amends computer software or programs with which they come into contact in the course of their employment, any copyright in such software or programs coming into existence by reason of such development or amendment shall become the property of, and vest in Torridge District Council. Ensure that all services under the postholder s control comply with the Data Protection ct Contribute to effect risk management. May be required to respond to emergencies during unsocial hours.
