1. Participants Boosting EntrepreneurShip Tools FOR Migrants July, 28th 2011 MEETING MINUTES BEST FORM Partner number Institution Name P0 Sociedade Portuguesa de Inovação (SPI) André Barbosa Mette Christensen P1 Inveslan XXI S.L Federico Martire P3 Oxfam Italia Caterina Casamenti Francesco Lucioli P6 Associação de Solidariedade Internacional Vasco Soares P7 Institute for Innovation in Learning (DE) Sónia Hetzner The following partners could not attend the meeting, due to justified reasons: P2 Association of Community-Based Business Advice (ACBBA); P4 University of Lodz; P5 University of Pitesti; 2. Topics discussed 2.1. WP2 Need Analysis-Case Studies The General Case Studies Report shall be done by the end of this week; The General Need Analysis Report shall be done by the end of August; The delay on delivering both reports was due to delays on the delivery of the national reports (both case studies and need analysis) Dissemination activities Partners were asked to provide information of dissemination activities currently being undertaken. All the partners referred that the process of collecting information for the need analysis (interviews and enquiries) helped to disseminate the project; 1

BEST FORM It was noted that partners should remember to complete the dissemination template with the activities that they had performed within the needs analysis (i.e. how many s request they sent, phone calls, interviews etc.) P1 referred the participation in an European conference on entrepreneurship in Hungary, in September, in which will disseminate BEST FORM; P3 and P6 referred they will be organizing activities with immigrant-oriented associations, in which they will be disseminating BEST FORM; It was emphasized the need to have detailed information on the dissemination activities undertaken, to facilitate the preparation of future reports; Next step either P0 or P5 will send the template that should be filled in every time there is a dissemination activity WP3 Content adaptation Comments on the pilot course/modules outline The outline of the pilot course structure, prepared by P2, was commented by the partners as follows: If each partner is to be responsible for the development of one module, it is necessary to ensure consistency and coherence between the different modules. To ensure that, it was suggested constant dissemination of the work in progress among the partners. Spreadsheet for business concerns were raised on this module on whether the trainees would have the necessary skills to deal with the related tools; Spreadsheet for business linked to these concerns, some suggestions were made: o Change its name, since it is more specific and technical than all the other modules; o Include it as a part of the module Finance for Business Advisers ; o Turn it into an optional module, with an advanced-level nature. This last option was approved. Target groups concerns were raised on the need to clarify which will be the specific target group of the pilot course, since this could influence the development of contents for the support handbook: 2

o Immigrants from associations, willing to become business advisers (with interpersonal skills but lacking some hard skills); o Social and Cultural mediators, working with disadvantaged groups but with no experience or background on entrepreneurial skills. Target groups partners emphasized the need to consider the differences on the skills levels of the trainees. To address that, it would be advisable to set the minimum requirements of each module and to structure the additional information and the exercises on the interactive tool according to different levels. Road map for developing WP3 activities In order to better organize the activities for WP3 and to share the responsibilities among all the project partners, the procedures below were discussed and approved during the meeting. The implementation of these procedures is conditioned to its acceptance by the partners that could not attend the virtual conference. 1. STRUCTURE OF THE MODULES P2 will be responsible for detailing the structure of each module, as follows: o Indicating the headings under which the content development and adaptation will be undertaken; o Indicating the specific parts of the self-study manual How to be a brilliant community based business adviser which shall be adapted; o Suggesting which new contents shall be developed under each heading and which headings shall contain local content. 2. CONTENT DEVELOPMENT AND ADAPTATION each partner (except for P2) will be responsible for developing 1 module. This includes the following: o Adapting the content of the self-study manual How to be a brilliant community based business adviser, according to the outline prepared by P2; o Developing new contents, specially for the interactive tool; o Coordinating the process of collecting local content information from the other partners regarding this module. 3. DEVELOPMENT OF LOCAL CONTENT each partner shall be responsible for developing the local content related to its country for all modules, as follows: 3

o The local content shall be developed according to the structure of the modules provided by P2; o Local content means specific information that may vary from country to country. It will refer to key aspects that a business adviser must take into consideration when supporting an immigrant entrepreneurs, presented in a brief way, along with suggested sources of additional information and possible concrete examples. 4. TRANSLATION the modules shall be written in English and revised by P2 (see activity 5 below). For the pilot courses, the contents will be translated only to PT and IT, by P0/P6 and P3, respectively. The translations for the other languages of the partnership will be done after the completion of the final versions of the documents under WP4; 5. REVISION OF CONSISTENCY + ENGLISH / DISSEMINATION OF WORK IN PROGRESS P2 will enact a constant interaction with all other partners, revising the English of the documents, ensuring the consistency of the content development and adaptation being done in each module and also guaranteeing that the working in progress of each module is made available to other partners, allowing for the exchange of comments and suggestions. Activities 2 and 3 shall be undertaken considering that they will all be available in an interactive tool (moodle). Part of the content developed/adapted will be used as the Support Handbook which, by its turn, will serve as the basis for the workshops of the pilot course. Share of responsibilities for Content Development and Adaptation Each partner at the virtual meeting indicated 2 modules they would like to be responsible for. The indication of 2 modules instead of 1 was necessary to allow adjustments according to the preferences of the missing partners. The following table summarizes the partners choices: Partner P0 P1 Modules chosen P0 does not have any preferences and will assume the module that partners may not want, if this is the case. - Making business support accessible to all; - Marketing for business advisers. 4

P3 P6 P7 - Starting up in Business; - Understanding business. - Finance for Business; - Spreadsheet for Business. - Working with Clients; - Spreadsheet for Business. Next steps All partners (especially those not attending the virtual meeting) may provide comments and suggestions regarding this road map until August 12 th ; If the road map is agreed, P2 may develop the structure of each module, preferably by August 29 th ; P4 and P5 are invited to present their preferences in terms of modules they would like to be responsible for; P0 will shortly provide a detailed calendar for this road map of WP3 activities, starting on August 29 th Other issues Translations it was agreed to have the following pending translations ready until the end of August: o Brochure; o Leaflet; o Website; o Newsletter. Website it was referred the need for additional translations for the website, since part of its content was not included in the original excel sheet sent to partners. The file was already sent immediately after the virtual meeting. 5
