Planned, organized and managed project while working with a subject matter expert, the author and a virtual assistant. Created an online survey to analyze business needs. Designed an accessible CSS web site. Produced storyboards and illustrations. e-learning Course: Five Ways To Elevate Workforce Performance Video: What is a Noble Enterprise? Wrote the script and narrated the video. Edited video sound and visuals in Adobe Premiere. Conducted formative evaluations on pilot designs. Had users complete a summative evaluation. *Dar Gillett, of Noble Advisors, wrote about the Noble Enterprise Business Model in his book Noble Enterprise, The Commonsense Guide to Uplifting People and Profits (2008).

8 Learning Styles and Distance Education Create an instructional unit to teach a Distance Education Seminar about applying Learning Styles to instructional design. San Francisco State University Instructional Technologies (ITEC) Program course project/assignment. Instructional Designers in the ITEC Distance Learning Seminar apply one Learning Styles Theory to their own instructional design practice. Learning Styles and Distance Education Module Worked with a team of four designers to manage the project. Designed and developed the web site. Contributed to the course development. Created the graphic design for the Overview, the Learning Paths and the Assessment. Responded to forum comments and questions. Organized the Glossary and Resource Sections. Participated in the formative and summative assessments.

9 Celebrating Abilities. Creating Possibilities. Design an instructional video with captions. Blind Babies Foundation (BBF) Donors and others who work with BBF describe the work Vision Impairment Specialists do with families and children. Planned, organized and managed the project while working with the BBF Executive Director, two subject matter experts (SMEs) and office support. Created storyboards, time lines, & test versions for video. Shot video footage at BBF community events. Celebrating Abilities. Creating Possibilities. Video about Blind Babies Foundation Interviewed a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and used the interview as part of the instruction. Wrote the script and narrated most of the video. Edited sound and film clips in Adobe Premiere. Color corrected and adjusted miscellaneous photos and video from other sources to create visual unity. Created synchronized captions for hearing impaired audience.

10 Moodle s Instructional Features Design training to teach college faculty how to create a learning activity using the Moodle Learning Management System (LMS). Santa Rosa Junior College Computer Studies Department. This was created during an internship. Santa Rosa Junior College faculty members create a learning activity using Moodle. Worked with a supervisor to create a needs assessment. Wrote the script for the instruction. Moodle s Instructional Features Additional video: Creating a Moodle Course Used Camtasia for screen capture and editing. Narrated the instruction.

11 Program in Visual Impairments Design an accessible web site that is also an editable template. San Francisco State University Program in Visual Impairments. Prospective students and instructors learn about course offerings and get program information either by reading this web site or using a screen reader. Planned, organized and managed the project while working with the Program in Visual Impairments department head. Worked with a SME to learn about editable templates. Created the web site using Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). Program in Visual Impairments Web Site Built in features to help people with vision impairments. Worked with a vision-impaired instructor on formative and summative evaluations.

12 Designing Courses with Accessibility and Usability in Mind Create an acccessible web site to teach about designing for accessiblity. Use the web site to make a video. This was a practice project Santa Rosa Junior College Computer Studies Department. This was created during an internship. Web site is the backdrop for a screencasting video. It is used as a back-up to ensure accessibility. The video needs editing. It not shown here. Researched all topics. Worked with a supervisor who was also an instructor. Wrote all instructional content unless noted on site. Designing Courses with Accessibility and Usability in Mind Designed CSSweb site with assistance from supervisor.

13 Creating Accessible PDFs using InDesign 3 and Acrobat 9 Create a tutorial and a training manual to teach instructors how to make accessible PDFs. San Francisco State University (SFSU) Disability Programs and Resource Center and SFSU Access. Instructors and graphic designers at San Francisco State University create accessible PDFs using Adobe InDesign CS3 and Acrobat 9. Worked with a supervisor. Created a development web site with resources. Designed an accessible pdf training manual to help with transfer of skills. Download Training Manual to Create Accessible PDFs Download InDesign CS3 Tutorial Designed a tutorial using Adobe InDesign to give the learner experience practicing. Conducted a formative evaluation with a graphic designer using the tutorial.

14 Template Mock-up for San Francisco s NENu University Create a template that can be used by neighborhood leaders to design courses. City of San Francisco Neighborhood leaders design courses for the San Francisco s Neighborhood Empowerment Network (NENu) University using the NENu e-learning Center. Completed project with a team of four designers. Co-managed development site with other team members. Attended meetings at City Hall with SMEs. Researched other city models of neighborhood universities. NENu e-learning Center Navigating City Hall: Playground Restoration Module (shown above) Researched principles for NENu e-learning Center. Designed an interview template and interviewed a SME. Co-designed an instructional scenario. Assisted with the production of the template mock-up. Created charts and illustrations.
